Eddie showed up a bit late due to traffic (certainly not his fault) and gave a concise and informative presentation. His no nonsense, up front, this-is-what-we-do type of approach resonated with me. His guys showed up on time, were very concerned with doing a great job and worked very hard. I'm so impressed with their diligence, attention to detail and professionalism.
Everything Eddie described in the presentation came true....well mostly. He said they would have the roof done in 3 days...it took them about 2.5 days. Not bad, boys, not bad at all. There were no last minute surprises, all the paperwork was done on time, inspections completed. We could not be more pleased.
"While it was absolutely regrettable that the project took as long as it did it should not have come as a surprise to the customer. The sole reason the project took as long as it did was that the custom cabinets that we ordered were delayed by almost three whole months. We explained this as soon as we were notified and the homeowners asked us to begin work anyway, against our advice. We work directly with a custom cabinet shop but do not own it, and therefore can only install cabinets which they provide to us. As noted once the cabinets were fabricated the homeowner was very happy with the quality and craftsmanship of every aspect of our work. The timeline was absolutely uncharacteristic of our projects and frankly of the cabinet manufacturer as well. To make up for this shortcoming the homeowner received quite literally thousands of dollars worth of upgrades and add-ons for free, even after he had agreed to pay a portion of them. While regrettable that the project took longer than anticipated as noted in the review the workmanship was great, all employees were courteous and professional and the homeowner was happy with the finished product."
Well, things went downhill from there. I discovered that the company that had done my roof repairs (costing over $11K) over a few years, was the same company. I called the office after leaving several messages for Eddie, and was asked to fax in the repair receipt, which I did. I wanted to understand what the plans were for the flat part of my roof better, and to make sure the drywall was included, also to find out what the payment would be on the financing. I got a call from Mr. Sanchez who said he wanted to come by and discuss my roof. He came the next day and informed me that the person who did the roof repairs was a former employee working on his own and he couldn't honor the warranty. Imagine my surprise. He said he couldn't give me any credit because it would admit guilt, but that he would do as good for me as possible, and promised to come back Friday morning, after having one of his mangers look at my roof to make sure what had been quoted was the best plan for my house (which has low slope sections).
Well, Friday came and went. Emails, calls, txts went unanswered. Then, surprise, surprise, surprise, almost a week later Eddie calls me back and says the price has gone up...it was a 'math error' he made. REALLY? I asked him to put it all in writing and nearly a week later...nothing.
My instincts are telling me this is a questionable bunch. If they won't take your call before they do the work, imagine if there are issues after the fact!?
"I am truly sorry to hear your displeasure with our service, however many of you statements are factually incorrect. You had never previously done business with our company. As explained to you at the meeting you had with the owner of Certified Roofers you had done business with a company that fraudulently used our license numbers. Through your own admission you had never met any representative of our company, and aside from the license number and logo all other information was different. You even provided a copy of the previous contract and it was a different contract than ours. In regards to the price increase you were issued an estimate for roof replacement at your initial consultation and self admittedly it was under bid. You knew it was under bid as well and that is why you alerted me personally on the phone that it was half the price of another contractor's quote. We made a mistake and apologized for the error all while attending to it as quickly as possible. My sincere belief is that when we were not willing to be strong armed into discounting our work for previous work that we did not perform and were not paid for, you had written us off. I would have liked nothing more than to provide a roof replacement for you at a fair rate. I wish you luck going forward and regret we could not work things out."
This is a review of the service response after the job completion (8 years); I did not hire this contractor, just trying to get some information.
November 5, left message please call me back.
November 6, I called again and spoke with Alex ( I think he said he was owner's son). I wanted to confirm what work was performed on the roof. Alex said he would look for the records on this roof but, they typically discard them after 5 years (2010), and might not be available. He asked what was wrong, I told him a failure in the flat roof area, he said that area is good for 10 (2015) years and being 8 years, this is approaching life expectancy. Alex said he would call me back either way.
December 03, 2013 have not received a call back and does not look like I will.
"I did speak with [member name removed] and advised him that all records are discarded once they pass warranty period as there is no further reason to keep them. [member name removed] may have misunderstood what I said but what I told him was that if I found anything of use I would call and let him know. A simple phone call back to me would have satisfied his inquiry, but as he states he did not call back and it has been more than a month. I would like to believe that if he really wanted an answer he would have at least attempted to call me back once again. I believe he simply did not like the answer he received as the roof is not under warranty and has not been for many years. In my eyes the issue was dead as I never held a contract, warranty or expectation of service to [member name removed] whom I have never met and simply shared a brief phone call with. If his expectation was a return phone call then that differs from my recollection of the conversation, but as he states he was made aware that there would be no records of a job that was done almost a decade ago."
Trash in yard
Soffits damaged and I had to call many times to get them to come out and fix them
Scheduling- A little loose. They just appeared when they were ready. Never scheduled with me.
Communications ? They never once answered messages left on their phone,I talked to several of them but they never responded, despite their promises, until I called the office several times.
Bottom line: I got a new clean, well built roof!
The workers came early and stayed until early evening. There was a Supervisor/Foreman on the job at all times for the 2 days it took to finish the job. The Foreman made sure we were satisfied with a walk around on all the work before he released his workers to go home. They cleaned up pretty good as well. I would highly reccomend doing business with this company.
