Jeff Spears was the saleperson who came out and was a complete professional, providing a layout of the installation with all details spelled out. Three other vendors were contacted; one declined to come out because they don't work outside of 8 to 5, Monday through Friday, one provided an estimate 2.5 weeks later, and the other just scribbled a price on his business card. The others were also rude and condescending and criticized a previous install. Since the fence was extra tall it had to go through the HOA but Mossy Oak was patient waiting for the approval. Once it came, the 2-man crew was very professional, removed all the old fencing and did a great job on the install. New fence looks great and we are very happy.
Installation took multiple days when it should have take only take one. Had to call to get them to come out and finish work as they did not call to tell me that the next day meant the next week.
Only reasonable person that I worked with was the sales rep. Everyone else blamed others, made excuses and passed the buck.
Team arrived on the new day and I was very satisfied with them. Quick, efficient ,and professional. They answered all my questions. I was very happy with them/
Update on June 16, 2015
Mossy Oak did come out to repair the lock so I have revised my review from an overall "D" to an overall "B." The reason it's not an "A" is because it still took longer than I feel is acceptable to leave a customer with a defective lock and they stood me up on a couple of appointments. Also, I think the reason why it finally got fixed was because they read my review and decided to take action to fix this problem. Someone from the company called me to discuss this review and then next thing I know they came out to fix the gate. I'm glad it's fixed, but I wish it would have been done quicker and without me having to leave a negative review.
I got in touch with Mossy Oak through their website. I filled out their online form and was immediately contacted back the same day by email wanting to set up a time for someone to come out and give an estimate. I told them I had already received a couple of estimates and had the type of fencing, footage and pictures I could email them.
Nicole contacted me back and said that would be great. She would take a look at the pictures, the other estimate and the footage and would give me an estimate based on that. If it seemed reasonable, she would schedule a time for someone to come out and just look over the project and sign a contract to perform the work.
This was on Thursday (5/21/15). I received an email from Nicole on 5/22/15 apologizing for the delay but they would be closed on Monday (Memorial Day) and she would have my quote to me on Tuesday (5/26/15).
That was the last contact I had with Mossy Oak - No quote, no follow up, nothing. I checked through my email - junk and spam folders just to make sure I had not missed anything but as of today (6/1/15) I still have heard nothing.
As I was also laying new sod, I asked Mossy Oak if they were able to do the the fence installation on one day, get my landscaper to then lay the sod, and then get Mossy Oak to come back and install the gates as this approach would have given me the best quality solution for both the new sod and the fence. I expected Mossy Oak to charge a nominal fee for having to make two visits, but when they told me they would charge $150, I told them this was way too high so forget it.
When the installers turned up to install the fence, they started to dig the posts in completely the wrong locations. I had not yet moved into the property at this time, so I was very lucky that I went round to the property early that morning, as no one from Mossy Oak had contacted to me to advise me that their people were on site or to confirm with me what needed doing before commencing work. Once I had showed them the correct post locations (as per the approved plan that was submitted to obtain the fence permit), I noticed that the way they were installing the posts and fence panels meant that in some places, there were gaps of around 8 inches from the ground level to the bottom of the fence panel. My property is on relatively flat ground, so I was bemused as to why the gaps were so high in some areas. I had to call the person that did the quote for me, to get him to explain to the installers what my concerns were, as they didn't seem understand what I was trying to explain to them, even though I was trying to communicate to them in a very plain and basic way what my concerns were.
Eventually, they seemed to finally understand what my concerns were, and mainly rectified the problem, even though there were still quite a few areas where the gaps between the ground and the base of the fence were large enough for animals/rodents to enter.
Finally, when the installers finished, they just upped and left without informing me, and did not walk through the finished fence with me, or go through the sign-off sheet that they had earlier given to me. I decided that although I was not completely happy with the fence, I would get another company to come and do the remaining work I wanted, as I was very disappointed and annoyed with my experience with Mossy Oak.
No-one from the company called me subsequent to the fence installation, even though they would not have received the completed sign-off sheet from me. The last correspondence I received from Mossy Oak was when they mailed the fence permit to me a week or so later.
Overall, I was very disappointed with the level of customer service, competency and professionalism I received from Mossy Oak. They have lots of positive reviews on Angie's List, and that's one of the factors that influenced my initial decision to go with them, but my experience with both their admin/office staff and their installers has been very poor.
