$600
Mr. Appliance of Tampa Bay came out to fix our fridge/freezer combo. I was quoted nearly $600 by the tech; he said only ONE thing was wrong and only ONE part needed to be replaced. We agreed. Less than 2 weeks after his repair, we woke up to water leaking everywhere and called the company back. The company sent the same tech back to our home. Tech said another part is now broken (supposedly). How very convenient. He proceeded to say that he now recommends we get a new fridge/freezer. I called & emailed Mr. Appliance back and requested a refund of the $600 (or at least a portion of the moneys). Mary advised me via telephone that would absolutely not be happening. I've reported them to the BBB due to their very shady, and unethical, business practices. I strongly urge you to reconsider doing business with them. You've been warned. Yikes. I can't believe companies like this exist.

My Asko washing machine died. Mr. Appliance could not repair it and made efforts to find the parts to fix it. The cost to fix the machine was $999+. Obviously, as much as I liked my Asko, I could buy a new machine for the price to repair mine. I understand the machine was made in Sweden and that it was 15 years old but - and I may be totally unreasonable here - I think if you advertise that you can fix something, that you should be able to do it with out the upfront service charges and several days of "yes we found the parts"; "no we didn't"; yes we did but...". I have already found that my Asko was much, much cheaper to run than the American made one I replaced it with. My Asko used cold water and heated it as needed. My new GE uses hot water and resulted in a $500 electric bill. Not Mr. Appliances fault but I wish I knew all this up front.
Response from Mr. Appliance of Tampa Bay

"[Member Name Removed], Please call our office at 813 657 3499. I do not see any work order for you in our system this year. I see older tickets from years ago but no recent work done. We do not work on Asko washers as well and you should have been advised this when you called in if you advised our office. More importantly I do not see any service orders for this job at all. I did attempt calling the last phone number on file. There was no option to leave a message. I look forward to speaking with you. Thanks, Jim"

"Mr. Appliance of Tampa Bay" called me first thing Monday morning (July 31st) to schedule the appointment. They told me that the technician would arrive between 3pm and 6pm on Thursday afternoon --- And on Wednesday afternoon, they sent me a reminder email with a reduced 2-hour window (3pm to 5pm) for the technician's arrival. The technician, "Saul", arrived on time and called me around 15 or 20 minutes before to let me know he was on his way. Saul quickly noticed that we were getting very low water pressure from the unit and recommended we call a plumber. He said that may or may not fix the ice maker problem, but it was at the very least, step 1 in the process of getting our ice maker working again. I used Angie's List to find a plumber and made an appointment for Saturday, August 5th; The plumber came out as scheduled and fixed the water pressure problem for us. On Monday morning (August 7th), I called "Mr. Appliance of Tampa Bay" again and setup a follow-up appointment with them for Wednesday morning. I received a reminder email the night before with a 2-hour window (8:30am to 10:30am) for the technician's arrival. Saul once again arrived on time and called me around 15 or 20 minutes before to let me know he was on his way. Saul replaced the ice maker and repaired the fill tube --- And our ice maker is now working properly. The $89 deal that I purchased in advance from Angie's List was applied as credit toward the overall cost of the repair. Saul was very professional and did a great job!

Quick work that fixed the problem. Cost was a little more than I would have liked, but then, isn't it always. Worker was prompt, efficient, and courteous.

They took an enormous amount of lint/dirt out of our dryer's vent shaft and showed us the real problem which is how our vent is "built to fail" because of its extreme length. Gave us recommendations. Spent a LOT of time getting everything just right..

Easily scheduled an appointment time. Got information about our refrigerator in advance to make sure he had the necessary parts or a replacement. Quirk was Dunne quickly and for the price discussed in advance. Would certainly use them again.

Overall it went fine. I had laundry trapped in the washing machine. I asked the tech about removing it. He said my husband could try draining the washer with a wet/dry vac. The part took time to come in. My laundry was stuck for five days in dirty water. But when the tech came to fix it the first thing he did was drain it. When he was finished I asked why he didn't do that for me the previous week. He said the job was too big to break into smaller parts and went on to talk about parts he said my washer didn't have that would have made the job more difficult. Perhaps to avoid the question? The washer works fine now and he went into detail how to prevent this issue in the future which I appreciated. However, taking the time to remove my laundry on his first visit would have been much appreciated. After sitting it dirty water for so long there is still a lingering smell even after several washings.

They were coming to do some warranty work presumably. When they got here, they decided that it wasn't warranty work, that it was something wrong. When my husband came home, he debunked that theory. It is actually kind of still up in the air, it hasn't been completely fixed yet. We are kind of in the middle with that.

I was given a 1-5pm timeframe. He called to let me know he'd be early, I couldn't reach him back in time (I tried twice) He showed up at my house at 12:10. Someone was able to let him in, not the owner (me). I was able to talk to him about the dishwasher not draining, he said he would check it out. 20+mins later I call back he tells me the problem was actually a new garbage disposal we had installed a couple weeks ago, apparently something needed to be knocked out of it in order for t to work with the dishwasher properly, he already performed the work without asking me. This service cost me $125 (more than the garbage disposal itself and not a lowes product). He then proceeds to tell me there is something wrong with my fridge. I tell him I'll be home in minutes, just get a check from the person in the house (I don't want him looking at anything else, he was only meant to be there for the dishwasher, which the visit would have been free and I could have gone to my guy about the garbage disposal... as he would have fixed it cheaper than $125). I get home and he is taking my fridge apart, telling me to look at how messed up certain parts of the fridge are. He stated refrigerators don't last more than 5-8 years these days and that my refrigerator is going to die soon (note: it is 5 years old). Tells me he doesn't have the part I need on the truck, logs a bunch of information and then puts it back together again and leaves. Well, it's the next day ... and guess what doesn't work? My refrigerator. ... so now I am screwed out of a fridge, out of time at work, out of my little free time, out of all the food I am losing in my freezer, out of my sanity?!? All I wanted the guy to do was look at the dishwasher!
