We recently moved to the area, and already had chosen some of the furniture we wanted. We had priced the items with a NC store where the prices are supposed to be the best, but Livingston's prices were the same and the delivery was $1000 less. Livingston's also recommended some manufacturers for items we had not yet chosen, and we were able to find things we are really happy with.
We also were surprised to get the furniture in only 4 weeks, since we did not order from their floor samples. Their delivery crew placed the items where we wanted them and set things up for us.
This was a good furniture purchasing experience. If you are looking for good high quality furniture, we recommend a stop at Livingston's. They carry many manufacturers and prices are reasonable.
When the couch was about due to arrive, I called for status. It was going to be delayed another month because they didn't even have the leather yet and that we should eat more beef - a completely cavalier attitude. After another month, I called again for status and was told it would be another 2 or 3 months. And note: they knew this information when I called but did not take the time to keep me informed. We finally spoke to someone higher in the organization who called the factory and sped the process.
The couch is gorgeous and well made. No one contacted us to be sure it was all right or if we were happy with it. I got a drop of water on it and it soaked in rather than beading up and rolling off. I called to ask how the leather had been treated and was told it hadn't been. When I asked for documentation that we refused treatment, he said that he sold it to us with a "?" in the space confirming treatment! No apologies were offered, no "how can I make this right". He said he'd get some wipes from the warehouse that we could pick up ourselves, pay $35 for, and treat the couch ourselves. Oh, and that it wouldn't be under warranty. A $10,000 untreated couch not under warranty. Really?
A week later after no word, I called yet again. He didn't get wipes. He referred me to a website where I could order them.
This is probably the most outrageous customer service experience I've ever had. Make the sale, take the commission, see ya' later.
