My realtor was quite upset with the lack of responsiveness during the whole process of buying and closing and wrote his own protest to LandCastle Title Company. I had no basis for comparison but often felt like I did not know or understand what was going on. My closing was scheduled for June 28, 2013, and all parties were prepared and ready to attend (bank, realtor, HOA, buyer, notary). That morning the rep at LandCastle discovered that she was missing one minor paper from the HOA. That paper could have been obtained two weeks earlier, but the closing could not happen without the paper. On June 28 LandCastle dangled all parties all day about whether there would be a closing. In the end there was no closing, but LandCastle did not notify any of the parties involved that the closing was canceled and delayed to a later date. I had emergency surgery during the process of buying and closing. All parties involved agreed to come to my current address for the closing so that I could be there and not have to ride in a car for a long distance. Instead LandCastle sent a notary to my home on the evening of July 1, 2013, to do all the closing paperwork, but none of the other parties involved were able to attend because the notary came to me after business hours. On July 2 LandCastle wanted to know how I was going to get my money to them. The whole plan was for my banker to bring my money to the closing. Since my banker was not invited by LandCastle to the closing, my money did not arrive. Therefore, even though I was post-surgical, I had to make a 25-mile round trip in the car to go to the bank to do what was necessary to get my money wired to LandCastle. That was a painful process for me and not wise for my health status. Because I now had to pay for the wiring of the money, LandCastle did reduce their fee by $50. That did not compensate me for my inconvenience, but it did pay the $25 wire fee and the $25 I had to pay for someone to drive me to the bank. After the fiasco on June 28, my rep was removed from my case and a new person was assigned to me. The new person obviously did not understand the parameters of my closing. I did receive a nice, written apology from my original LandCastle rep.
Description of Work: The provider acted as the title company during the purchase of my new home. They were responsible for gathering the information and paperwork for the closing and for scheduling the closing.
