I called Jim on a Monday morning and he said he could come over immediately. He diagnosed the problem and told us we would need a new agitator. He ordered the agitator and when it came in two days later he replaced it immediately. He was very friendly and extremely reliable. I would definitely use him again.

Jim was very straight forward and arrived earlier than expected which was ok because I wanted it fixed as soon as possible. He was very professional and explained exactly what was wrong and had it fixed within 20 minutes. His price was also half of what I had previously paid for the same repair.

My washing machine stopped working, and I called Jim's Appliance after consulting Angie's List. I left a message and Jim called me back right away to set an appointment to do the repairs. Unfortunately, Jim was an hour late, and did not call me until I called him to find out where he was. When he came to my house, though, he quickly figured out what was wrong with the washer and repaired it. He apologized for being late and knocked 10% off the price. He did a very good job, and I would hire him again even though I was annoyed by his tardiness.

My 7 yr old Whirlpool refrigerator stopped cooling. Jim came out the next day and immediately diagnosed the problem and replaced the relay switch. He was very prompt and courteous.

I called Jim on a Saturday morning. He tried to help me by phone through Q&A, but couldn't correct the problem. He could schedule me for Tuesday, which was fine in this case. Jim arrived on time, checked the dryer, and found a simple, manual fix. He said that the alternative was a motor replacement costing several hundred dollars, but that this work-around would probably serve for a long time. Obviously, I chose the manual method. Jim refused to take any money for the service call. I very much appreciated his punctuality and professionalism. I will call him again when or if I need his services.

I called Jim and left a voice mail; which was promptly returned by Jim; After discussing my needs Jim informed that he did not perform the work that I needed, but he gave me a number of contacts that would probably work for me. I am very thankful to Jim for his punctuality and honesty

Jim came over on a Sunday morning within 30 minutes of my phone call. I was desperate due to the fact I had to catch a plane in a few hours. He was very courteous, punctual and professional. I could not tell you if the $150 price tag is good, bad or what. However, I found it to be a small price to pay on short notice, quality and professionalism. Joe South Tampa

We called Jim and he responded the same day, within a few hours. He showed up on time and performed the work. He was pleasant and professional. We had told him we suspect the lid switch was broken, so "diagnosis" was not really needed. He replaced the lid switch, which took less than 5 minutes. He reattached the new switch using wire nuts and tucked the wire back up into the housing, outside the basket. This seems odd, when the lid switch has an actual plug on it, the wire for which likely should have been run up into the back panel of the machine and plugged in (ie, rather than having an exposed wire juncture fastened with wire nuts in the housing of the machine, but outside the basket itself, where it seems it could be exposed to water). In fairness, this was the way it was on the old switch, so Jim simply followed the previous repair person's suspect methods. My big gripe is the cost. The service call ($40) should have easily covered the less than 5 minutes it took to replace the switch. I found the part itself on the Internet for $26.13. Jim charged $70 for "replace lid switch." Is this part cost + labor? Labor? It seems the less than 5 minutes it took should have been covered under the $40 service call, so maybe it was all part cost? I understand his need to charge more for the part than what he paid for it (eg, shipping, storage, etc), but nearly triple the cost of what I found available to the average Joe? Serious price gouge is all I can say to describe it.

He came the next day a few minutes late and was very professional. Come to find out, he didn't have my ice maker on his truck, laughed, and said he would have to reschedule. Mind you, I had already rearranged my schedule for this trip and was not happy about it being rescheduled again. He made it for Friday at 11 AM, I gave him my cell phone number, and that was that. Friday arrived and I did things around the house indoors so I would not miss his call or arrival. When it became noon, I was becoming concerned. I called his number around 12:30 pm. He returned my call and scolded me, telling me that he had called my cell phone 3 times and left messages. He also told me that he was now in South Tampa and couldn't get back into my area on Friday. I told him fine and forget it and hung up. Upon checking my cell phone messages, there were only 2 calls made, not 3........and he was not pleasant on the 2nd one at all. He sounded like a dad mad at his kid for not calling. On his first call, he said it was close to 11 and that he could "work me in" at that time. HUH? How do you tell someone that you can "work them in" when that was the time they quoted you for their arrival? My ice maker still isn't working, and I don't know why all of these other people had such good luck and I didn't. Guess I will just wait until summer and then find someone to repair it then when I am off work. Until then, I will just purchase ice at the store and be done with it. I am very unhappy and now have received a bill for a $65 service charge............for what? Driving to my house and laughing about not having the correct ice maker on board? Why wouldn't you have all that you had in stock? They don't take up that much room. I am disgusted!

I have never talked to a service provider on the phone who appeared to put everything else aside and focus on who he was speaking with at the time. He addressed all my concerns and gave me all the time I felt I needed. And no money to be made, as this was all over the phone. This is the type of person you will remember the next time a problem comes up and the type of person you highly recommend to other Angie's List members. Jim's Appliance Repair is a step above the rest.

Cold water was leaking into my front-loading washing machine when it was not in an active cycle. Jim diagnosed the problem by phone. Came out and replaced the solenoid. Very professional, quick service, good value.

I called and left a message for Jim. He returned my call in about 1 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, Jim told me that he doesn't repair gas appliances. He did say he would take care of mechanical parts(e.g. belt)on a gas dryer but he couldn't help with my problem. Jim did however, refer me to a company which does work on gas appliances and I was very appreciative for the reference.

I called Jim because he was the first person to pop up on our Angie's list inquiry, he also had the most positive comments. I didn't get in touch with him right away so I left message and called the second person on our inquiry. It was a Friday morning and our refrigerator and freezer were out so I really wanted to have someone here before the weekend. The second person I called said he would come out to diagnose for $30 and he would call before he came. Then Jim called back. He said that based on the description I had given him it sounded like the relay on the compressor. He was so honest and helpful over the telephone that I was ready to cancel the other appointment and have Jim come over. I tried to call and cancel the other appointment but got no answer and when the guy called to give me a heads up on his arrival he said he would be here in 5 minutes so I let him go ahead and come over. According to this guy it was the compressor which was under warranty. He said I should call the Maytag Repair dept and let them look at it because he didn't want to charge me $600 for a compressor if it was under warranty and then he said to call him back if I still needed him and he would credit the $30 toward a repair if necessary. I called Maytag and the compressor is under warranty but they wanted $75 to diagnose it and couldn't come until Monday. Since Jim was so nice the first time I spoke with him I decided to call him back and see what he thought about the other person's advice. He said he felt sure it was not the compressor and that it was just the relay and asked that I go ahead and let him take a look at it. I happily agreed. He was at the house within an hour and...HE WAS RIGHT! He replaced the relay and the fridge came right on! He didn't even complain about the dust behind my fridge. Thanks Jim for the excellent service, you can bet that we will call you in the future for any appliance work!

I called Jim on a Sunday when the fridge wasn't cooling. He called me back the same day and talked through the problem with me. By the time we ended the phone call, he was pretty sure what the problem was (a fuse). He came on time the next day, replaced the part, and the fridge is back in action.

He was very nice. We called on a holiday weekend and he told me how busy he was and gave me other possibilities for other reputable companies that could help me quicker. I appreciated his honesty and we decided just to stick with him. We would absolutely use him again.

I called the day after Christmas and Jim was able to come approximately 1.5 hours after my call! He fixed the dryer quickly for a reasonable price. He left the two broken parts for me to inspect. He was very polite and efficient. I would use him again, definitely!

Was asked to check on broken refrigerator, looked at the problem made cursory repairs and assured us it would work fine. He told us to call him if it wasn't fixed. His fix didn't work resulting in loss of 2 fridge loads of food. After multiple phone calls he finally came back 2 days later & said a new part was needed & he would check out where he could get it. At that time he disconnected the thermostat regulation system so it would work until he returned with the part. When my husband called to check on when he would complete the job he told my husband no new part was required and if it was cooling it was fixed, contrary to what he had told me. When confronted with this lie he told us he couldn't fix it as it was too complicated and we should call Whirlpool directly. 10 days later our refrigerator is still not working correctly and now we will have an additional bill from Whirlpool/Kenmore when they come. He was chosen for high rating he no longer deserves.

When I called Jim and described how the refrigerator was acting; he explained what was causing the problem. He went out of his way to come out and repair the problem the same day; saving us the cost and inconvenience of a lot of spoiled food. He was at our home within an hour, and made the repair. Jim was very courteous and professional; I highly recommend him.

I called Jim on a Sunday when it was clear there was something wrong with the frig. I left a message stating that I understood it was a weekend and would like a call back on Monday to set up an appointment. Jim called back that Sunday afternoon and we spoke about the problem and set up an appointment. He arrived on Monday on time, quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. The cost was very reasonable, but most important, he didn't waste our time waiting around for him to arrive and had the part with him. He provided terrific service! I'll call him again.
