Hardrock Landcape Services, Inc.

I started receiving services from Hardrock in January 2019. They did a decent job, and it simplified things having fertilizer and mowing all through one company. The weed control wasn’t perfect, but we’ve received worse from other specialty companies. In July, we bought a new house. I informed Rob Brooklyn, the owner, of our plan to sell the house he was taking care of to give him the courtesy of a heads up of our plans so he could be prepared for adjustments to his scheduling. I told him we’d like to keep him on the lawn until the house sold. He hesitated but agreed to continue services. Within a week or two it became clear he had already moved on to a new schedule. He hadn’t touched our lawn for 2 weeks when I called to ask about what was going on. He sent someone out later that day and told me they were considerably behind schedule because of the rain. Anyone who’s lived in FL more than a year or two has seen lawn care folks out in CAT 1 storms doing their thing, so for Rob to tell me they were a full week behind schedule because of rain insults not only MY intelligence but his as well. Eight days passed following that mowing with no sign of his crew once again. I left a very irate message, already having been blatantly lied to once and now being clearly blown off again. It’s fine if he needed to move on to better opportunities, but DON’T cash my checks for a full month worth of services and only deliver half a product! He returned my voice message to tell me to “**** off” and to never call him again. This time he went as far as to claim he was stuck in the hospital with his wife who had just been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. I have no idea whether that story is true or not. If it is, my heart goes out to him and his family, but given what I’ve seen of how this guy operates over the past couple months, I’m VERY skeptical. There must be hundreds of lawn maintenance companies in Tampa. You can certainly find better than this one.

I contacted Hardrock Landscaping on Monday, January 21st in order to obtain an estimate for sod replacement after completion on my pool installation and some possible landscaping. There was no answer so I left a message. Later in the day, and quot;Roband quot; called and spoke to my wife. He agreed to come out the next day, Tuesday between 3 and 4 in the afternoon. He never showed and has not called.

He came out and gave me a plan to alleviate the water coming into my lanai. His plan used PCV solid drainage pipes instead of the slotted flexible pipes. He had an excellent plan, but it was too extensive for my needs and budget. I informed him at the time that I would think about it, but was honest that it was a larger solution than I had planned. He was very polite and very knowledgable.

Their price was good and that made us choose them. They charged about $1500 twice. They were excellent and did a good job.

Rob Brooklyn (owner) came to my residence and took measurements. We discussed different types of turf and mutually decided on the best type for my yard. Once the appointment was made, his team showed up promptly and completed the work as expected. They cleaned up before they left. Rob then came back on two ocassions to follow up and see how the grass was doing.

Their price was reasonable and they did a good job.
