My mother could no longer stay in her home and had to go to Assisted Living/Memory Care. I had been her primary caregiver for the last 6 months of her stay in her home. She went to Assisted Living on July 27th. Since I am not from the area, I used Angie's List to find reputable Estate Sale companies. I was overwhelmed by the whole experience and could not possibly have handled a garage sale on my own. Clutter to Cash is owned and run by Earl and Mary Bridgewater. They visited me at my mother's home, on August 7 and explained their service and the business arrangements, if I chose to use them. I toured them around the house, showing closets, garage and pointing out a few of the more interesting items. Their fee would be 35% of the proceeds and they would organize the items, price them using online resources and their own experience, and conduct the sale. I would receive a check. If I wanted, I could pay a minimum cost for them to arrange donation for the items that did not sell. I was desperate and they were so very nice, I happily signed the contract on Mary's iPad and received my confirmation instantly. I have not regretted that decision for one second. We agreed on a sale weekend, Sept 12-13. In the weeks leading up to that weekend, they organized items, staged displays, and priced everything. They got the house ready for the sale. Behind the scenes, they sent email to their mailing list and advertised the sale in multiple online locations. I didn't attend the sale -- too difficult. But I know they only let in a few people at a time and had a security person standing by. It was rainy, messy weekend and they were disappointed with the result. They suggested they having another day for the sale... the Sunday of the following weekend. And they did that. No additional cost. I didn't ultimately choose to have them remove the remaining items, but they met me at the house the day after the sale and we "debriefed." The Cashier's Check was cut on September 25th, after all the credit cards had cleared. I could not be happier with their service or the compassionate and kind way they handled my situation. My mother's Alzheimers, my subsequent months of care and her placement in a memory care facility made me very, very sad. The disposal of my mother's personal items was heartbreaking. Earl and Mary were as understanding as they were efficient. I highly recommend them.

This review details the quality of the actual estate sale and not the activities between the home owner and company. The sale itself was not very organized with many of the items not priced. Everything was WAY overpriced and not aligned with what other companies in the area are charging. For example, $15.00 for an old dictionary?!?! Also, knick knank-type items were priced as if they were priceless antiques. Again, this review is based on the company's sale that they were performing.

Response from Clutter To Cash Liquidation Services
Wow.! This is bar far the most ridiculous and random review of service I've seen. Sir we cannot possibly price ever price the thousands of items that maybe in a sale. But the majority are pricedWe price all collectible and popular items . All others like clothes and dollar items are priced with index cards or reference sheet pricing that buyers can refer to. And we are always open to negotiate . By the way way the Random dictionary that you referred to was an older 1st edition that you would have gotten for half price as we were discounting at 1/2 price at that point. The other 175 people who attended and shopped our sale were quite happy with our pricing and processes. We received multiple compliments and referrals yesterday as we always do at our sales. Thanks for your cheap shot though, I'm sure we won't see you at any of our future sales since you don't like the way we do business. Or better yet you should try running sales yourself since you're knowledgeable in the manner estate sales should be run.

I previously gave Clutter To Cash an A rating for services performed in May 2014. I am the reviewer whose mom had passed away and I needed to do an estate sale to liquidate a house full of furniture and belongings. I was very pleased and grateful in the beginning. They tried to conduct the sale but the homeowner's association wouldn't allow it. After all the hard work of tagging all items and advertising, there were limited results that were not the fault of Clutter To Cash. They suggested the items be moved to their warehouse so they could sell them at auction. I again was very appreciative and grateful because I had to clear out my mom's house for new owners and I was too emotional to conduct the sale on my own. They did sell a few items the following month at very, very low prices. Again, I was still ok with it. Then I stopped hearing from them. They still had furniture and other items belonging to my mom. I have called and emailed several times and have not heard back. I just want an accounting of the furniture and items. If they couldn't sell them, I would have given them to friends and to charity. I should have been told so that it would have been my choice. I don't understand why I was consulted on what was happening with my mom's furniture. Very, very disappointing after all the good things I had to say.

They changed the dates on us multiple times and claimed I missed one appointment when I knew I would never have made it for that day since I already had plans. They were going to charge 35% of final auction price. As the date came up, 2 days prior to the event, they notified me that they had not advertised for my auction and wanted to change the date back to the 8th and wanted my key to my storage unit 5 days prior. They could not give me a reason for wanting my key 5 days prior to the auction. After cancelling the whole auction, I was threatened and told they were going to make sure no one would work with me because I threatened to contact Angie's List to leave a review.
Description of Work: We had a contract with them to have my unit sold by September 3rd.

Response from Clutter To Cash Liquidation Services
Received a phone call from prospective client's daughter to set up a consult to possibly help liquidate her hoarder" mother's storage unit. Met with prospective client and her son for initial consult. Never met with or contracted with daughter who is filing this review. Showed us a 12 X 50 RV/boat storage unit full of boxes and miscellaneous furniture pieces. Prospect indicated she needed unit cleared out by 9/12 but would take a buyout on the spot. We declined. After photographing & video recording parent content of unit we proposed to do a 1 x onsite silent auction for a proposed date. Stated we would forward contract outlining terms of the sale and that we need to see current condition of unit as prospect stated she wanted to remove a few items and he rooster Collectibles prior to sale. Emailed unsigned contract to prospects son as she did not have email access with prospective sale date of 9/3. Received phone call from prospect that she would be signing contracting & wanted to fax. Advised I could not receive faxes ( fax line only sends cannot receive) so please fax. Prospect advised would have son do it. Did not hear from prospect again till midweek stating she wanted to fax contract. Advised again could not receive faxes the that this point we should meet that Friday to sign contract, get a final look at the sale sites, get current pictures to accurately depict sale, and get access keys. Prospect stated she was still getting things out bit we could meet. This was Labor Day weekend. We never had an appointment for Monday (labor day) as we were going to the beach for the weekend. Left Saturday am . Returned Monday evening. No contact from prospect till 9:30 Monday am. Stating that she thought we were meeting on Monday but she had other plans. I advised prospect at that time we had appointment for prior Friday. Still was prepared to work with her at this point even though alarm bells were going off. She asked if we would be moving forward with prospective sale date of Wedn 9/3. Stated I believe we could but I would need to call her back after I discussed it with my business partner, husband. After discussing we made the decision that we could not in good faith do a sale on such short notice, without seeing the current condition of the unit , and no contract. Contacted prospect and advised her that we would be moving the sale to following Monday and we could meet the following day to view the unit, photograph, get contract signed, and get keys for access. Prospect insisted that she never intended to meet on Friday but still wanted to move forward. Five minutes later I received a phone call from clients daughter asking who would have access to the unit and what items would be sold. Stated per your mother all remaining contents in unit were to be sold and no one but myself & my husband would have access. But we needed to seethe unit as is to accurately portray the sale in advertising. Daughter asked if we could move the viewing till that Friday as her mother was STILL removing items and her brother could not get off from work to help with the the removal of more items till after Wednesday hen we supposed to meet. I stated we could not move forward till we were able to view the current state of the unit and photograph it for advertising as is. Daughter stated I will have to make it work. My Mom will be there. More alarm bells were definitely going off now. It was quite apparent to us that the client would be removing all salable items and possibly leaving us with a stripped or nearly empty unit. After discussing it with my husband we decided it was best to pull out if this potentially sticky situation. We did not have a signed contract, had not yet advertised as we did not have photos of current state of storage unit, and it appeared as if the client was attempting to pull a scam of sorts by portraying a full unit to be sold and then removing the majority of anything if sellable. Called and advised prospect that we would not be doing business and she should look for someone else to assist with her liquidation.Minutes later I received an email from prospect's daughter threatening to leave a bad reviewAngie's list and other sites. That we were attempting to steal the contents of the unit. And she did not understand why we needed keys prior to the sale. Please take note that prior to this we had not had any complaint about gaining access. Additionally prospect had initially offered keys in initial consult to start process. We declined as we did not have a signed contract yet.Advised daughter that she could do what she thought she should but at no time did we intend to remove anything from the unit. Furthermore it is our policy to obtain access to a sale to prepare. And the end all be all to our decision was that we just felt that this situation was becoming to problematic for our taste. In addition I would be advising follow peoples the liquidation community of the apparent "bait and switch" that they appeared to be perpetrating. I received several more insulting text messages from prospects daughter in which she continued threaten to slander our business reputation. I finally stated we did not have a contract , we were not going to be threatened into doing business with them, and that the truth would come to light and that I was done with this matter. A few days later I received a text that they had received a buyout and we're very happy. I did not reply. I have copies of all email and texts regarding this messy potential transaction. Would have no problem sharing with Angie's list. I also have pictures of the unit as it was presented to us. I'm really disappointed that this situation ended in a malicious review but I am grateful that our company avoided a potentially disastrous estate liquidation scam. Our reputation as a company with integrity stands for itself. Reps from Angie's list should feel free to contact me to view my pictures, text messages, and videos regarding this matter.

My mom passed away suddenly and I needed to sell and entire house of furniture and her other belongings. I could have attempted to sell it all on my own but it would have taken an enormous amount of time and would have been extremely emotional watching strangers sort through her belongings. On the day of the Estate Sale, the homeowner's association would not allow the sale. Clutter to Cash had spent a great deal of time and effort marketing the sale, tagging all the items, etc. Instead of being angry, Clutter to Cash came up with another option. I had to clear out the house because new owners were taking possession. They removed all of the items to a warehouse where they are now consigning the items and having warehouse sales. They are professional, knowledgeable, compassionate and very hard working. I could not have done this on my own. I would highly recommend them if you are looking to do an estate sale or help with selling furniture before a move. They have the resources and network necessary to get the job done.
