On this particular call, I placed a call to the company stating my air conditioning was out for the 2nd time in six weeks. I was told they could have someone out to my house between 5 pm and 7 pm that same day. No one showed up at my house or called me to tell me they would not be able to make it that day. Early the next morning I called again, got the same story, we can have someone out between the hours of 5 & 7 pm. I have a membership that states an appointment within 24 hrs. I said that is not going to work. I have been sitting in a house that is in the 90's. I need someone today. A young man showed up around middle of the afternoon. He told me he believed there had been a power surge and that it blew my fan motor. He strongly suggested that I purchase a surge protector. I said if you can fix my air today I will let you do the job. He had to go and pick up a fan motor, came back, put it on and I purchased the surge protector. A total cost of for that day was $597. I must expand on this story because this is not about one visit. I bought this unit in October of 2013. I paid $6,086 for a 2 ton, 13 seer Goodman. I have read all of the reviews on your website regarding this company, and some of them have been told the same things I have been told. The reason I purchased a new air unit was I had been using this company for maintenance, and at first everything was fine, then they started telling me the capacitor was bad. I was told by Derek he thought my compressor was going bad, but the company would not replace it unless it actually went bad. That air conditioner was purchased through another company. I trusted them to install a good unit. I was not told that had other units. This heat pump/air conditioner is not even two years old and this is the 2nd time this company has been out to my house to work on it. The first time I was told the coil had gone bad. Fortunately the coil was under warranty, the labor was not. I was told that would be approximately $1,000. Initially I paid $6,086 for the unit, $550 for the labor on the coil, only after complaining, and now another $597. So I have actually paid $7,233 so far. I have lost all trust in this company. I am sick over this. I would not be writing this now if it wasn't for the fact it has already broken down twice, and from other reviews I have read probably won't be the last time. I will never use them again. Please learn from my mistake and do your research.

This review is way overdue, but I will keep it brief. Air Rescue (then called Sheppard Air) installed a pair of 19 SEER Lennox heat pumps and air handlers in our home in 2006, replacing the builder-grade 10 SEER units that had come with the house. The installers pieced together a PVC drainage system for the new air handlers that backed up repeatedly, saturating the duct work and at one point causing a large chunk of the ceiling to collapse. In 2009, we hired an environmental engineering firm to inspect the system. They found significant mold and dust in the air handlers and ducts, caused by a combination of the dampness and the use of the wrong size filters (which allowed the air to go around the filters instead of through them). The report attributed the frequent clogging and overflows to an insufficient pitch in the drain line. We appealed to the owner of Air Rescue, who ignored our correspondence. Instead, the company repeatedly had its technicians try to sell us on buying expensive UV light systems to treat the mold problem. Last year, we finally hired another company to completely remove and replace both units. The only reason I'm giving the company a "D" instead of an "F" is that their technicians were generally professional and sympathetic to our problems with the units.

Air Recue installed the air conditioner on day 1, and day 2 it did not work! After that, it took more than three months, 7 technicians and an infinite number of calls to this company to get a brand new air conditioner to work, it was a nightmare!!

Called air rescue at 10:15am and was told the manager (Dan) no longer works for the company. Air rescue failed to show up for three (3) scheduled appointments and only gives excuse "I'm sorry". I paid for the silver membership and want a total refund. I WILL NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND AIR RESCUE TO ANYONE! I should have learned from the first time air rescue failed to show up for scheduled appointment. Air Rescue phone number is 1-800-NEVER WAIT, should be ALWAYS WAIT. I will also be making complaint withe BBB. Stay far away from Air Rescue, not dependable at all, don't care about the customer or the customers time and all you get is excuses!

My Air Conditioning has been performing great for the past year. I saw the Air Rescue commercial on TV for the $39.95 service. So I decided to schedule an appointment. My air handler and A-Coil are more than 10 years old and it shows. My outdoor condensing unit was replaced with new 2 years ago. In the process of cleaning the air handler the technician broke off 2 copper fittings on the A-Coil and lost all the freon. $560 dollars later, I still have a more than 10 year old air handler. The technician should have left the old system alone and advised replacement! I am now contacting another firm to replace the air handler. Warning: once Air Rescue comes through your door be prepared for a hard sell on a maintenance plan and also UV-c light systems for your A/C system. If you decline these, be prepared to be penalized and pay higher tiered rates for your service and repair. The UV-c light anti microbial system they offer can be installed locally for 1/3 the cost. Be prepared for scare tactics and a hard sell! Also be advised that a UV-c light system will void your air handler warranty and service contract as it deteriorates internal plastic parts of the handler.

In the 5 years since I purchased the unit, I have called them back 30 different times to service it for various reasons. Once the fan motor needed replaced, once the compressor was replaced. They have also replaced the main coil. There is nothing in that machine that they haven't replaced. I couldn't believe how many problems I had with this unit. The deal I bought included a check on the unit twice a year. I bought a surge protector on one visit. I spoke with my electric company and they stated that there is a surge protector on my main pole outside and I do not need one for my A/C unit. They were always trying to sell me something each time they came for service. They stated these were aftermarket items that were required for the unit. They charged me $11 per month for maintenance but they still tried to charge me every time they came out. They recently told me I need to replace all my duct work and wanted to charge me $6,000 to do this. Another technician from a different company looked at it and stated the only problem is with my cold air return because Rescue Air didn't do it properly. They fixed the duct work for $200. He stated that the AC unit I have is the cheapest brand and the worst AC unit on the market and it normally runs for $4,000. I recently had a special light installed to purify the air in my house. The bulbs are supposed to last 3 years and mine burnt out after a year. The service man for the light fixture stated there was water standing under my air conditioner and I am trying to get another service call to fix this issue. Also, in the past, the company has paid me $50 on two occasions to remove bad reviews from Angie's List.
Description of Work: They installed what was supposed to be a new 3000 ton air conditioner unit in my home. After they left, I went outside to look and could clearly see it was a used unit. The drain pipe was rusted. I called them back and they stated it was only 2 months old. I paid for a new one and demanded a new unit. They came back within a few days and installed a new one.

All of the providers they sent were very punctual, professional, and responsive. Very clean and very polite. They took their time with the "tune-up". Any repairs I requested outside the normal service time were quickly handled. However, I came to not trust them. Each time they came, they would identify a few preventative services like "your capacitor is a little low, should change it" or up sells from surge protectors to pan treatments to other things. At first (for the first several years) I viewed these as a benefit, maintaining my unit. But I did notice that I would agree to change the capacitor, and within 5 minutes the work would be done and I would have paid $250-300, some times on more than one unit. Then one of the capacitors went out about 2 months after it had been "replaced". Then other problems began to occur shortly after the inspection, leading me to feel that the inspections were not helping. I ended my service contract with them recently after a problem with the fan being out of alignment occurred and burned out the fan motor within months of my inspection. The rep who came out quoted me $1000 worth of repairs and encouraged me to replace all three units. I called an independent provider who came out and did the same work for $300. This was all a couple months ago. Today, had a problem with a unit and called the same independent who came and replaced an obviously blown capacitor. One that had been replaced in the not distance past by Air Rescue for $300. He charged me $100. It made me realize I did not need to join a club to get good, fast service. I did not to pay for a service contract to receive a "discount" on prices that were still significantly higher than I need to pay for the same services. It made me feel foolish for all the money that I am sure I wasted over the years. So I wrote this review.
Description of Work: We were Silver members in their service club for several years. They came twice a year to clean and inspect our 3 AC units. However, each time they would try to convince me to purchase something, either preventative or "add-on". Eventually, I came to feel that I was being taken advantage of.

We've had Air Rescue servicing our A/C for almost 2 years. Our most recent diagnostic with them revealed the need to replace a coil (a very costly repair). The initial estimate from Air Rescue was $1300. Since replacing a coil seemed like a pretty big job we did some more research and my husband was able to talk them down to $1000. We did more research and called for other estimates. After bringing another company out (reputable based on several reviews, on several websites) the new company found that Air Rescue had NOT be doing the basic maintenance we'd be paying them for. They showed my husband several "basics" that are included in maintenance work/AC check-ups that were not completed. Needless to say we won't be using Air Rescue ever again and wouldn't recommend anyone else to them either.

Five days before I had the new system installed - my air conditioner had a freon leak. Air rescue came out and added freon and ran diagnostics. Even though I had a visible leak the technician added Freon and charged me for it. I called for service again and it was determined the cost of repairing my system was not economical so I determined that I would replace my unit. There seems to be a lack of communication between the service techs and the upper management. I was told that I had to pay for the Freon because if I had called a certain person in the company the Freon would not have been added to a visibly leaking unit. The story always seemed different depending on who you spoke to. Overall I have always had good service from Air Rescue.

They are associated with Brandon Air Co. He did a good job was very thorough but when he got to the price there was some added fees and some items that he said needed to be done. One item was that my air conditioner needed to be level. The price for that was really high. I've not ever been told in the last 10 years that that was a problem and it will not be done. Other than that the young man did a good job.

They sent on 4 different days 4 service men to determine what the problem with our system was. After determining that it would not be cost effective to repair the system, the company sent another repairman to show me my options of units. Since the law requires that if you replace the air conditioner you must also get a new air handler. Of the four options shown to me I choose the second unit. They began on one day and finished at 2:00am the next morning. They worked hard and had found difficulties when the new system was larger and would not fit and needed quite a bit of revamping to make it fit. The system was an Amana brand and should have worked well but the motor in the air handler died after one day. But they sent a repairman out quickly to determine the problem. A new motor was there on the next day and all has been well now for 3 weeks. Their employees were very knowledgeable and courteous. Having spoken to others about the price for what I got seemed to be in the ballpark of other neighbors who had similar work done! As a side issue, when the inspector for the township came, he went up in the attic to inspect the work and proceeded to turn of the unit and never turned it on. When I found that the conditioner was not working again I was mad and called the office of Air Rescue to complain about the unit, thinking that it had failed twice in 1 week. They sent a repairman within 3 hours only to find that the inspector had turned off the switch. Thankfully all is running well now.

As agreed per my membership ($12 per month), every 6 months, a scheduled full system diag was completed. Issues: Every six month visit had a new tech who took the time to do a complete check of the system, including cleaning of the external and internal units , checked freon etc.. I had a weekend emergency last year and called for service on a Saturday. Since I was a club member, service tech arrived quickly and resolved the issue. Overall, happy with the service however, as my unit is over 10 years old, every visit was accompanied with a pitch to add or repalce certain items to maintain my system in top shape. This included a suggestion to replace the entire system since I would spend much more repairing it as components failed. I agree with this concept. The longer I waited the higher the risk for costly repair. My beef: When the techs started the pitch on how much I needed to replace/repair things, I presented them with the companies past visit paperwork showng him I was well aware of the issues and to no avail, I had to listen to the pitch over and over again every visit by every tech. I cancelled my club membership and service agreement only because I did not want to hear the same speech every six months. Yes, they want to keep your system in top shape ,however, after awhile, I started to become concerned. I was the " customer" and even though I may have disagreed with them on the immediate replacement of my system, adding or upgrading existing components etc. , they appeared to filter out what they are not wanting to hear.Overall, satisfied with the service I received and staff appears well trained in the AC system business.

[member name removed], Respectfully I do believe there should be a time limit in regards to services due to the fact that companies change ownership and policies that could be in resolution to what the customer is upest about to begin with. After researching this for you I was able to find your account under another address since the one listed is not one we have ever serviced before. We have not called you in a year. We have not been to your home in 2 years. We have changed so many things about our company since we have last been there that the only thing you would probably recognize would be our uniforms. We have a new general manager and out of all the technicians that have been to your home there is only one that has stayed with our company and that is due to the amount of compliments and requests he receives from our customers. We have a great Angie's list rating and Better Business Rating now. I believe back when we serviced your account we had very low scores and we made it our goal to turn things around and as you can see the results show we have changed. I apologize if you are still upset about things that happened in the past and if there is anything we can do please let us know so we can forgive and move forward. We do not want you to continue to hold ill thoughts of our company and again if there is something we can do to fix your concerns with us please contact our office and we would be happy to oblige. Thank you for your time.

The name is a joke. They are never going to rescue you. They don't take responsibility for their service at all. You cannot reach a service manager and instead have to talk to a woman who talks in circles. She lies, she makes up stories, and refuses to take responsibility for their service. They tried to blame me for not putting in the part the first time but this is not our fault - I have a history of responding whenever they tell me I need a part. They have cost us a bunch of money not to mention the heat in the house the last few days. We also have two long haired dogs that cannot and should not be exposed to this kind of heat - it's not safe for them.
Description of Work: A technician could have put in a part for $160 and fixed our system. He did not tell us that this was an emergency situation. As a result, our compressor is totally shot and needs to be replaced for over $1500. This amount is several hundred dollars more than what it should.

[member name removed], We have it documented on several invoices that we informed you that a specific part was going bad and needed to be replaced. It was initialed and signed that you declined to do the repair. The 2nd to last time we came out before this breakdown you are referring too, we had received a call from you stating you didnt want us to sell you items just to do your maintenance because you felt they were trying to sell too much. We have that documented and we made notations to the file to not go into detail about work needed but to mention it to you as we have too and note it to the invoice. The part that was failing caused stress on the compressor and it did fail. I spoke with you and your husband myself and the only thing I could do to resolve the concern was to give you the compressor at no charge which we could not do as that is not fair on our end. We did not cause the part to fail. The part that was failing in yoru system caused it to fail. A part that we had informed you about several times prior to it happening. A concern you had was that we didnt stress the importance of the failure by telling you if you didnt replace the part that it was going to cause your compressor to fail. That is something that we couldnt predict was going to happen. If we had informed you that if you didnt purchase the part that the compressor could fail then you would have felt we were trying to sell as we had been told prior relating to your account. Anything we suggest to you could ultimately save you money later by buying a less expensive part now to prolong the life of the more expensive parts. Again we can specifically state to any of our customers if you do not purchase an item then it will cause something else to fail because that is misinformation because we cannot predict that for certain. We even agreed to discount the part even though it was not our fault we did try to prevent it from failing by offering a part we saw was under specifications numerous times because we are a good company. At this time since you have been unhappy with the service and upset that we didn't do work that we informed you about that needed to be done that was declined at the time of the services, our hands are tied/ It would be understandable if we never mentioned it or even one time. On 3 service calls we mentioned there was an issue waiting to happen and it did and the finger is still being pointed at our company. We always offer to to help our customers and correct issues as you can see from all of the other commentaries on this website or any other review websites. In this situation we would like to apologize that you are having to deal with this large expense because that is unfortunate for anybody to have to deal with but we cannot put our self at risk as we now see that this has tried to be turned into a liability issue and thankfully we have all of our records straight. We wish you well and hope you are able to find someone to help you take care of this for you easily and as reasonably priced as possible.

I was very pleased with them. They were hardworking, quiet, and unobtrusive. They've come back several times to correct things with no charge.
Description of Work: The provider installed all new duct work for me. He somehow made it through a crawlspace of 6 inches.

The air handler is an off brand model. Later I realized that I needed to get air filters and the local stores do not carry this brand and I can only get them from this company. Their prices are very high. When you call to ask a question, no matter what the question is, they always want to send out a representative instead of helping me over the phone.
Description of Work: They put in a new air handler and a new AC in on the outside.

(deleted member name), When we give an estimate on a new system, as we do with all of our customers if they have had a unit replaced with us, there are choices in the system that is going to be installed. The comfort advisor sits down with our customers and designs a unit specifically for you based on your requests and your budget for your air conditioning system. The unit installed in your home is not the most advertised, but it is not an off brand unit. It is not one of the more expensive units that we sell to our customers, not because it is of less quality but because they do not advertise like a few of the well known manufacturers do. The more advertising a company does the higher the prices for their services to pay for that advertisement. You still have warranty on the unit and in the 3 years it has been installed we have not had to come out to your home except to do the routine maintenance on the system. If the unit is having issues that we have not been informed of please do not hesitate to call. If it is a simple thermostat question we can definitely walk you through over the phone, but if any questions you have with concerns of the unit we will have to send someone to your home to protect you and our company. Just for example if a customer calls our company saying that their unit is vibrating or making a noise. There are a dozen of things that could cause that so anything we tell them would be a guess. If we guess that the issue is one that is not a big deal and do not advise you to have someone out, we will be at fault for our customer going without air if something major breaks. We are trying to do the best thing for our customers and not assume potential problems for the unit by offering to come out and evaluate it for your home comfort and safety. The filters are special order filters. We are not the only air conditioning company you can get them from though they are not sold in stores. We have adjusted your membership to include 6 filters for you in the place of one of your $79 cleanings. So your cost for them is equivelant to approximately $13 each which is actually a little less than what we purchase them for. We did that for you because you said there was a concern with the filters that you were unaware they were special order when you purchased the unit. When we make mistakes we do try to rectify them for our clients even if it comes out of our pocket because we are a good company. When we offered to modify the membership for you to take care of that concern, you said you accepted that and agreed that would take care of that issue. We have not had any concerns from you expressed to our company to give us the chance to discuss and resolve them for you except for this post. Our goal is to make you happy and if you are not please tell us so we have the opportunity to fix it. There are several concerns here that you have expressed but our question to you that is not listed is how can we make you happy with your purchase? That is our goal and if you will allow us we will work together with you to accomplish that.
