The owner was able to come to my home the day I called which was very convenient. Once he inspected the water heater, he told me that it was not an issue with the water heater at all, but an electrical issue. He repeated that information a couple of times and he spent about 10 minutes total at my home. He did no work at all because it required an electrician. His regular rate is $85 an hour and he charged me $75 (a $10 discount because he couldn't do anything.) I have given him low ratings here because in my opinion, driving to a job and spending 10 minutes to diagnose an issue but not work on it is not worth $75. I felt ripped off and I wouldn't hire him again, nor recommend him.

"I am sorry that this Gentleman feels this way. I arrived on time. I did diagnostic trouble shooting on the water heater and found no power. I am limited by the scope of my licence and could not legally help further. I informed the Lady of the house of my findings. Installed two panels back on the water heater that were removed by the owner so as to leave the water heater safe from electrical hazard. I discounted my charge. I also informed the Lady I would return free of charge if my diagnosis was incorrect. This all did take a little longer than 10 minutes, however I was not there long enough to meet the Gentleman of the house. On a follow up call to the lady of the house she confirmed a electrical wiring problem that was fixed by a Electrician and the water heater was working."

As first time homeowners, it takes time to find a reliable, trustworthy plumber, contractor, electrician, etc. For plumbing needs, we've used the larger companies, but thought they were overcharging. By luck, we came across Adelphi Plumbing. He changed our water heater for a fair amount, and have been clients ever since.
Recently, John came out and fixed a leak on a main water pipe on time, professional, and again, a fair price. I would highly recommend him to anyone. And if the job is too big, he'll recommend another company.
