I called them back this week and scheduled my pick-up. The driver - Tom - called me when they were about 15 minutes from my house. Tom and Richie arrived within the window of time I had been given. They were neatly dressed, friendly, and introduced themselves with firm handshakes. I showed them what I wanted moved and Tom once again explained how the pricing works. They worked very quickly and efficiently and allowed me to add on some items that I found (I could see them once the junk had been removed!). When they finished Tom explained the amount that I owed (no surprises) and emailed me a receipt.
I would absolutely use this company again!

The gentleman that arrived were in uniform. They were very careful of my walls, staircase

We value your patronage and recent review, but we do not agree with your characterization of our service in your review. Since you were not on site, it is important to clarify the events that transpired during the service and we hope this information will give you a clearer understanding. The coupon that you purchased was for a $100 credit ($49 paid by client) toward junk removal service which translates into an 1/8 of a truck load of items. Our truck is a 2 ton, dual rear wheel dump truck with approximately 14 cubic yard of bed space. This is not a small truck. The refrigerator/freezer we removed from the basement filled an 1/8 truck load of space. When the client asked if we could also take away a table, we informed her that we could, but it would exceed the value of the coupon and would push her into the 1/4 truck load size which has a cost of $150.00. This would increase her cost by $50.00. She was fine with that, so we removed the table along with the refrigerator. Her final service cost was $99 (including the $49.00 coupon cost) for a service which would have cost $150. She had a total savings of $51.00. The city of Chapel Hill does provide a limited bulk trash removal service. However, these item must be placed on the curb as the city employees will not enter your home. They will haul away up to 3 items for $15 and each additional item being $5.00 more (items in boxes are counted individually). Also, this service must be prepaid and they cannot provide same day service. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us by phone or email. The people who were sent out did not know about the prepayment and discount and had to call the office to get instructions.
Before the appointment:
- Scheduling process was efficient and easy.
- Questions I emailed about my upcoming service were answered almost immediately.
- Reminders for the appointment were sent by email and text (with my permission that they asked for in advance).
- Arrived during the promised time window and called about 30 minutes in advance to notify me they were on the way.
- Four polite , friendly young men greeted me and introduced themselves and seemed eager to get to work.
- Even though they were picking up junk, they all wore nice matching shirts, khaki pants/shorts and work shoes.
- One man was the team leader but participated in the work, and the others were respectful and responsive to his direction. They were all very professional, and I felt comfortable to have them in my home.
- The team leader looked at the items to hauled away so we could agree on the total cost before starting the work. Junk Patrol charges by the volume of junk to be hauled away, which you can estimate yourself with a cool pricing tool at http://www.junk-patrol.com/pricing.html. He wanted to confirm my rough estimates I gave him when I scheduled the appointment were accurate.
- They took great care to avoid causing any marking or damage to my home when carrying out the items I identified.
- They closed doors and gates behind themselves, even when I might have had it open for them.
- They take credit cards, checks or cash as soon as the job is completed and provide a receipt.
- The team leader let me know that Junk Patrol will also provide services other than hauling away junk. They can offer pricing to move heavy things around the home, carry things into onsite storage containers (like Pods), help load and unload local moves or load rental trucks for people who are moving out of town.
Nice guys, came on time, did finish the job.
