"Thank you Mr [Member Name Removed] for taking your personal time to send a review. We appreciate your business and look forward to a long lasting relationship together. Have a great afternoon."
I can't trust their word. They said if I was not pleased, they would refund charges. Well, they didn't.
I would not recommend anyone hire them.
In terms of fertilizing the lawn they are fine however when it came to controlling weeds their service was flat out bad. It seems about all they did was to apply micro nutrients, fertilizers, etc for the six months or so that I employed their service. At the time of hiring them I stated clearly that I wanted them to help control weeds in the flower beds as well as in the lawn as I had just replaced almost the entire yard with new Zoysia grass. Their price was about $20 more a month that their competitors however it seemed like they would be doing more as they would come out once a month as opposed to every two months like the other companies that quoted.
In the contract they charged extra for 2 times per year for applying pre emergent in the flower beds to control weeds and the sales person assured me this would do the majority of the work in terms of controlling weeds. Upon their first visit when I asked the operations people about weeds in the flower beds they said they didn't have this service and would need to ask the office staff. This was at the end of the growing season around Oct. 2014 when weeds were not a problem and they said at the time that they would apply a pre emergent later as the plants in the beds were only a couple of months old and they didn't want to damage them. I asked them about spraying for weeds in the flower beds multiple times and their reply was lets wait until the plants are older or until the spring.
Fast forward mid March 2015 and there were weeds everywhere in the beds as well as the lawn. I literally spent hours hand pulling weeds thinking this was the only thing that can be done as the lawn and plants were too new. When I called to complain asking why weeds were all over the lawn they sent someone out within a week or so to kill the broadleaf weeds. After two plus weeks from spraying maybe 30 percent of the weeds in the lawn had died and the others were taking over. In the flower beds there was more weeds than plants in places. Finally I had enough of no results and quit the service. During one of their visits they even pulled their hoses over 3 plants and killed them which they promised to replace and never did.
At the end I changed to another company. The other company (Paul's Pest Control) came out and in one visit got all of the weeds under control in the yard and in the flower beds. Paul's charged me a one off fee of $225.00 to spend half a day spraying for weeds as they were everywhere. They mentioned that if I had went with them 6 months prior I could have avoided this fee as they would have never let it get this bad.
Massey was courteous in terms of the staff that came out to my house however their results left much to be desired.
Then in March I receive a bill for another $80.00. When I tried to contact them about it the office girl insists that it is a quarterly bill from OCTOBER!!! What?! She said I had to speak to David to have the problem resolved. I called again and got the manager who said David would be in on the following Monday. No call returned. I asked my daughter to try to reach him during the day while I was at work. She attempted on five separate occasions to get David to return her call. No return call. We left messages with the office staff every time we called.
Then in April, I receive another bill for $80.00. I called the Orlando office this time and complained about the above problems and David's refusal to call us back. They said they would leave a message for him to call me back on Monday, 4/28. On Wednesday, 4/30 I finally received a very disgruntled call-back from David. I was at work and could not talk, so I told him we would call him right back. My daughter (adult) then called him to express how difficult it was to deal with their service and the problematic billing for services not rendered.
The conversation went like this (and I quote my daughter):
" I told him I was not going to pay anymore money to the company because the billing is incorrect. He told me he would "find someone to pay the balance on the account and we will go our separate ways". I feel that he never wanted our business in the first place and was looking for a way out. So, he didn't fix the billing issues and didn't apologizing for the poor service from his staff. At this point, it is my understanding that I no longer have an account with Massey's services. I owe them no money and they owe me no service."
He also did not refund any of the upfront money that was given by contracting for 5 consecutive treatments.
I would advise EVERYONE to RUN away from this poorly run company. Everything from the contract to the billing is messed up and they do not appear willing to fix any of their poor services. Their reputation stands at unreliable at best.
That Massey would have inspected my house several times and also treated the perimeter soil without having suggested that soil be re-graded next to portions of the slab is, in my opinion, incompetence. I canceled my contract with them. Why pay $175 for an inspection in which the inspector is just going through the motions and cannot even see all the vertical face of the slab to check whether termite tubes are present.
I probably would not have written a review except for the fact that after I cancelled the contract Massey managers called me twice, once under false pretenses, to badger me into renewing. In these calls, they asked me to renew, but they never offered to send someone competent out to suggest how and where to reconfigure the soil near the house. They were interested in my money, but not in my problem.
if we see something we have issues with they send someone that day or the same week......very pleased with service...
