Furniture - Sales
$2,500
Sectional recliner broke in two weeks. Waiting 6 months for replacement. Customer Service number +60 minutes on hold. Must have a lot of unhappy customers. Had to go to store where they can't do anything in store but they have magic phone number to talk to someone I guess. Avoid this place, it's a money pit!

My wife selected a new living room set, couch, love seat, coffee table and two end tables, for our soon to be retiled living room. We paid for the entire set IN FULL, at the beginning of October. The sales person was informed that we would not need delivery until the beginning of November and we would call to set the final date. No problem was what we we're told.
Now, the beginning of November comes and the only thing in stock are the end tables. I would take an additional week for the love seat too be delivered. However, the couch and coffee table will not be delivered until AFTER CHRISTMAS!
When I contacted City Furniture about this matter, they were very unresponsive and smug acting like they have no responsibility in this matter. The best they could do was refund the deliver charge, even though they have a perfectly good floor model that could be delivered. But, this isn't possible, because they can't have a show room without a couch, but I can have a living room for the holidays without one.  I will never use City Furniture again.
I have tried several times to contact City Furniture to see what could be done to correct this matter and they are not interested.

I filed the paperwork and pictures for the claim,  a couple days later I received a call from the contracted repair facility to set up an appointment.  The repair person came out looked at the couch and determined the reclining mechanism in the couch was defective.  He told me he would put in his report and City Furniture would call me to inform me how we were going to proceed.  I received a call that night(July 14) and was informed they would repair the couch and the parts needed to be ordered.  They would be in in approximately 6-8 weeks.

This seemed a little long to me so I wrote and email to City Furniture on their website and received a call where they apologized that I felt the repair was taking to long.  So whatever, I waited the 8 weeks, called the warranty number multiple times trying to find out when the parts would be in and kept receiving different info.  I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told "the supervisor sees the same information that I do, so they will be giving you the same info, I said ok i still want a supervisor.  I was put on hold for a very long time and hung up before anyone came to the phone.I was given a couple different dates, I think the total time till parts came in was almost 10 weeks.  The last phone call I made to the Warranty line I was told the parts were in but were in a container and I could not schedule the repair until they were unpacked.  I was told it takes 2-3 days to unpack.  At this point what was a couple more days.
I called the salesperson that sold me the furniture and the warranty to ask her for help.  She apologized profusely and said she had never heard of anyone having this big of an issue.  She the proceeded to  tell me she would love to help me, but every time sales calls on behalf of a customer, they are told the customer has to call.  So basically no help there either.
Got the call from the repair tech again scheduled the repair appointment to find out he did not have all the parts.  Only the reclining mechanism came in the foot rest or the arm.  He repaired the mechanism but I still have wood hanging out of the foot rest  and the hole in the inside of the arm.  Not to mention now the other side of the couch is difficult to close.  He put in a workorder for the original arm and foot, and now the reclining mechanism for the other side.
I called the Warranty line to she how long this was going to take this time and I was told 10-12 weeks as the parts need to ship from over seas.  The last repair appointment was October 10, 2014 so still waiting.
The repair tech was nice and on time, but this is taking way too long.  Original complaint June 28.  It is now Nov 18 and the couch is still not repaired.
