First they did not show up as scheduled and when I called after waiting 15 minutes, I was told that I was not "penciled" in due to parenting issues. We re-scheduled for the next day-Saturday.
Second on Saturday the estimator showed up an hour early(7am) but did wait outside the house. Since I was awake we started the job estimate earlier that planned. He seemed to be experienced, explained the repair process well, and shared many valuable points with me-for which I am grateful.
Third after waiting one week I have not received my proposal.
I would not use this company as dependability is important to me and my free time is limited as it is.

decided to go with Gulf Coast, contacted the company and the salesman scheduled an appointment to review the contract, sign and give them the down payment. Salesman arrived on the scheduled day and on time. We contacted the salesman
several times throughout the process and he was very responsive and communicated without delay. We were told that the job would be started within 10 working days of signing the contract and that Gulf Coast would contact us the day before they would be on site to begin the job. The company was on site within 10 working days of signing the contract.
Day 0: Got call from dumpster company (Rent-A-Dump) that they would be delivering the dumpster within 20 minutes (which they did with very little disruption and they did not block off our entire driveway; I was happy about that). No prior call from Gulf
Coast Roofing indicating that they would be on site the next day. Called Office # and left message, then called Representative ? left message. Representative returned the call promptly and agreed to contact Galen Lohmeyer (owner). I received a call from Galen, with apologies, indicating that the crew would be on site the next day. I also got a call (assumed it was the crew chief), at
9:30PM indicating that they would be on site by 8 ? 8:15AM the next day.
Day 1: Crew arrived on time and immediately went to work. Materials were delivered, half of roof was torn off, dry in completed and clean-up was done by 1PM. Crew indicated that they would be back at 8AM the next day with the permit (they had pulled the permit but did not have it with them when they started the work on Day 1).
Day 2: NO SHOW ? NO CALL. At 10:45AM I left a message on the Office phone. No response from Gulf Coast as of 12 noon;
attempted to call cell number and was unable to leave a message because the message box was full. Contacted Representative to explain that we have a partial roof job started and no permit on site; he agreed to contact Galen. Crew chief showed up at 12:23PM with permit and guaranteed that work would be done in time for inspections on Monday (1/28/13). I explained to him that I don?t have a problem with delays that may arise, but that I did expect some communication when that occurred and that I was concerned about the work being done without the permit on site. Galen called just after 1PM to apologize and assure me that the work would be completed as indicated and that he would make sure I was notified should there be any further delays, etc. The crew left about 2:45PM and promised to be back at 8AM. I spoke briefly with the crew chief again and felt much better about the communication concern.
Day 3-5: Crew arrived on time and immediately began work. I am impressed with how the crew works; I?ve not observed anyone wasting time or being less productive than everyone else. They start work right away and work consistently to complete the
day?s tasks.
Issue with invoice: On Feb 12th I received the invoice via email, it was incorrect. I responded the same day but received no corrected invoice nor a call. After a couple of days, and because they start charging interest after 10 days, I sent a check (and supporting documentation) for the correct amount; which has since cleared my account. As of today (2/26) I've still not gotten confirmation from the company that they agreed with the corrected amount other than that they cashed the check.
Overall Impression: Other than the issue with communication, we are very happy with the work. I was impressed with the way the crew worked steadily while they were on site. It took a little longer than expected due to a insufficient materials on site, but the delay was minimal and was not disruptive.
The true test of the quality of a roof is time, but I?m convinced that the work was done well. We did have a wind mitigation inspection following the completion of the roof and we are happy with the result. It has since rained a few times and no leaks. I would use this company again because of the quality of workmanship and I did recommend them to my daughter.
Notes about having a roof replaced (not specifically related to Gulf Coast Roofing): Just so you know, there will be some clean up that you have to do after the job is done. We've found an occasional roofing nail and small pieces of old roofing, but that is to be expected. I have no problem with the clean up job that Gulf Coast did as it's virtually impossible to get every single nail or old roof piece. This is just an FYI, if you've never been through the process. One other thing, it's really noisy - again this is to be expected.

They installed a new roof cover for my mother's mobile home. Once we agreed on the contract, they immediately put a temporary covering on the roof before rains came and then scheduled the work within a 10 days.
It's been a year and things seem to be OK. My mother reported some concern so they are going to provide an inspection per their excellent warranty.

I email several local roofers with "A" rating on this List
Doug with Gulf Coast responded the next day. All others responded (if at all) a couple of days later.
Throughout the sale process he was prompt, courteous and very comfortable with me asking a lot of questions.
We worked through the price and reached a gentleman's agreement on the spot which he never wavered from.
Very refreshing.
I was in no hurry and in exchange for doing a great job, I said they could schedule when convenient.
They came out a couple of weeks later.
Dropped off the materials the afternoon before.
Showed up and got right to work the next morning.
No loud music, no bad behavior at all.
Small crew and took three days but they worked well and seemed to be caring about their work.
The last day they cleaned up every scrap and nail in the yard..we couldn't find any!
The next morning the dumpster was removed.
Three days of no trouble and I had a beautiful new roof.
The final bill came in only $38 in additional charges (it was clearly listed that way...nice) for replacing some rotted trim. I think they replaced more but that;s all he charged me.
Overall, I am extremely pleased and I highly recommend them.

"Member, I am sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the estimate you had. I do not personally remember speaking with you, but I may have. I speak to approximately 100 customers a month and I can not remember all. We always treat our customers fair and I wish we could have done business. The confusion probably came about because your house living square footage is different from your roof square footage. All things such as slope, valleys, hips, ridges, vents and how cut up the roof is all need to be taken into consideration for your total ROOF square footage. I do not think it fair of you to judge my company when you truly do not know all the facts about your roof size. It is obvious that we were willing to help you from the statement you made in your report when you called our office, but you chose not too because you wanted us to give you something for nothing.
