Got that issue straightened out when I told them they would need to leave.
The damage they did was excessive. Most of it was negligent and very little was caused by an accident. For example
They tried to force my refrigerators through and opening that was to small and scratched and dented them. They dropped one completely. They folded my mattress in half to get it through the door. Damaged the beds inner workings.. The bed is now defective.
There was a safe opening at the back of the house which was wide enough. They were too lazy to use it. Excessive breaks and texting and telephone use displayed during the move
In addition they drug my white bedding on the ground. They partially wrapped the bottom of one after I complained. They put their dirty heads and bodies on my bedding as a result of it not being covered. Gross.
The owner refused to come out and investigate. They concealed other damage from me as well. The owner refused to supply me with Insurance certificates and workers comp certificates. The owner appeared he could care less as the state has an insurance policy of some sort that he must use. This policy appears to protect him from the negligent actions of his crews so he has no motivation to get involved
I had to hire another moving company to finish the job. Hired repair men to fix some of the damages. some are not fixable and some are too expensive to fix. He sent me a check for a fraction of the cost of damages and no apologies.
"Though we do dispute several of the items listed by customer, in an effort to satisfy customer we did offer the customer $474.58 which the customer accepted by cashing check and has already received these funds."
"This customer was given a flat price for up to a 26' Truck which is what we provided. Customer asked when job was booked what would happen if it did not fit and was told that if it did not fit that we could do a partial shipment at a reduced cost for the overflow. This is exactly what took place in this situation. The packing charge which was included in the original estimate, was a flat rate for labor and we included packing materials as needed at no additional cost. Customer did not pay extra for materials. As we flat rated the packing we did use used boxes to keep costs down and to help the environment these materials were in perfectly usable condition or we would not have used them. We used 5-10 lbs boxes of new paper, 1 wardrobe full and 2 dish boxes full of fill paper for packing. This is not an unusual amount of paper to be used for packing and certainly not enough to stop the move from having overflow as overflow took another 1/4 to 1/3 of a truck. We have no reason to use more materials then needed as this was a flat rate pack meaning extra materials were costing us not the customer. Too much paper is much better then damage for not using enough. When customer called about oil on driveway, I mailed a check the same day for $75 to help pay for cleaning of driveway. This was returned to me and I resent the entire returned envelope so customer could see that it had been mailed and returned. Customer has never made mention to this company of any damage at any time other then the driveway. The first mention of any other damage was 12 days later (table was in the first shipment delivered 12-17-10), on Angie's List not to our company not the first time but the second time information was supplied to Angie's List by customer. This job had an itemized inventory that was checked and signed off by customer at delivery ensuring no new damage had occurred I am sure if damage from the move occurred to a $10,000 table we would have been hearing about this at this point. Also on the inventory signed by customer at the pickup location it was documented that dining room table and 2 leafs were already scratched on the top before being moved."
