Response from Heritage Pest Elimination

"You are not a customer of ours. Please contact the correct company. We have only done business for a few accounts in your area and have had to file suit against the owners. we were sub-contracted by another business owner and have notbeen paid. I don't know you or of your account after googling you. I am sorry if you we're included in the situation of canceled accounts due to non-payment."

I signed up with Heritage in April 2014 and cancelled them the first week September 2014. In April 2014 Heritage came out and sprayed fertilizer and bug control application, started cutting my new lawn once a week, all for $105 per month. From April 2014 - July 2014 my lawn looked great. Then in August I noticed it started not looking the way it did April - July, but I figured they were coming once a week if their was a problem they would have noticed and would have taken action, but they did not. The other issue I complained to one of the owner's was when they cut my lawn they were blowing the clippings in my plant/shrub beds and after a few cuts all I saw in the beds was dead grass, could not see my mulch anymore and also blown against my house where after they came I would have to go around my house with a broom to clean it off, and this is a brand new house !!! The last time they mowed they ran over and crushed the end of my brand new down spout, I called and told them , and they did not know about it because it was not reported, so I called the office and all I got was an apology, did not even offer to pay for it. This past week I called the office (2 weeks after I cancelled my account) to ask if I was going to receive a refund(which owner has not gotten to yet) because a I pay a month in advance and happen to get the owner who told me he was out at my house because of my complaint about the lawn clippings and gave me a lame excuse about why it happens, but did not say one thing about why my lawn being a mess (from insects). I now have a new company cutting, trimming and edging my lawn and they don't seem to have a problem with keeping it neat. My lawn itself is on the mend, but it will take time.

Response from Heritage Pest Elimination

"As the owner of Heritage Pest Elimination I take pride in this company and the customer satisfaction as well. I personally inspected this lawn and issues that were complained about. Issue 1 we were blowing clippings in the mulch beds. (the mulch beds are so close together that you are either going to blow into one bed or the other. the bahia grass grows so fast in summer and becomes very long quickly making it more difficult to blow out of the beds without removing the mulch also. we worked hard at trying to please customer with this issue. Issue 2 we were blowing clippings onto the side of the house. at the end of each service we would go behind with the blower and blow off the side of his house, with that being said there were a few times where areas were missed or not up to this customers satisfaction, but still looked good.(we tried very hard to please this customer ).3rd Issue we ran over his down spout on the new gutter. the technicians turn in a report of the day at the end of the day. I had not yet seen the report for the day. ( customer called within a couple hours of service and we hadn't even finished the route for the day yet. this is why I hadn't seen the report yet. After finding out I offered to pay for it as I always do when we break something. customer said he would handle it and wanted to cancel. 4th issue refund we offered to continue his service for the prepaid amount of time and customer refused. We have a 30 day contract cancellation notice required to stop service without penalty. 5th issue lawn bug issues were never complained about and were never present.Customer received a lawn spray for fertilizer weed control fungus control and insecticide on a 2 month rotation with monthly follow-ups all documented in his account. (no issues reported). As for the broken downspout I will offer again to replace something we damaged. (please contact to collect). As for the refund we stopped service on the second service for the month Wednesday the 10th of September 2014. This is not a 30 day cancellation notice. We are terribly sorry we could not please you as customer and were grateful for the time we had your business. Heritage Pest Elimination John McLoughlin ."

I was with this company for a couple of years. I purchased new sod to replace sod that had been destroyed by chinch bugs. This last year, all of my sod was looking bad. This company did not live up to expetations. The new sod I had replaced got destroyed by chinch bugs. Nothing this company did stopped the damage my lawn received. The last straw was when I contacted the owners, John and Jeremy. Neither one would come to my home to look at the damage done to my lawn. Instead they sent one of their service techs who could only say and quot;I'm sorryand quot;and and quot;I understand how you feeland quot;. I told the service tech, If the owner can't come out to my house and see the damage done to my lawn for the company's lack of properly spraying, then I'm done with his company. Since that day, I have never heard from either one of the owners.

I would not endorse this company for any lawn maintenance.

It was $90 for two hours and $35 an hour if he needs to come back. He was in my attic which is not easy to crawl around in, for two hours. He sprayed inside and out and got rid of our ant problem.

We were informed by one of our neighbors that the lawn was dying - Heritage never contacted us about any problem. We made numerous phone calls and emails asking over and over from June to the end of August WHY the yard was dying, WHY the bushes were not trimmed and why there were weeds growing in the drive way. We even sent pictures taken by our neighbors to John on email. Our neighbors reported how bad the lawn looked to us on a weekly basis as we were out of town during most of the summer. John knew this from the beginning and he agreed to keep the yard in good shape knowing full well we would be gone during the summer. John and his partner blamed this on our home owners association because they turned the water off in the irrigation system for 4 days during a short drought in Florida this past summer. At his suggestion in May we bought a hose and sprinkler he said they would turn on and move around if there was a drought. He has refused to take any responsibility for the condition of our yard and he refuses to make good his 100% CUSTOMER SATISFACTION that appears on his web site. Also we had no lawn to mow from June until the present and he continued to send us the mowing part of the bill each month. He also said he would continue to "service our lawn" for the agreed upon price even knowing we are very unhappy with his quality of work. We had another lawn company look at it and they determined that someone sprayed our Zoysia lawn with a weed killer that should not be used on a Zoysia lawn and that is what killed to lawn. Heritage Pest Elimination says that did not happen. He continues to say we just need to wait and water and the lawn will "comeback" . Simply not true, the lawn is dead. The only thing you can rely 100% on with this company is that if anything goes wrong they will claim it is 100% someone else's fault.

It went just as expected. They come regularly and on time. The owner gave us a good explanation of what he offers and allowed us to choose just the services we needed without having to take a "package deal". We pay $25 per cutting and we are billed monthly. We are very happy with this service.
