Description of Work: Ron Harvely, the owner, made two separate calls to the house. He completely rebuilt two toilet tanks, replaced two bathroom faucet sets including supply lines, rebuilt two shower faucets, and replaced the hot water heater drain valve. These fixtures had not been operated in over 2 years and were leaky or immovable. Although a risky repair, Ron was careful not to cause any more problems than he found. He does excellent work at an excellent price, congenial and respectful of property. He is the only plumber I would call on.

It went fantastically! Ron cut a square opening in the drywall surrounding the old valve. He then cut the old pipes, replaced with a new ball valve, and soldered everything back up. I have to patch the drywall, which I am fine doing that. :) Looks very pro and finished. Overall, Ron got here around 10:50am, and was done at 11:20am. Then we talked about other tasks to do in my garage, such as re-piping a sink and mentally getting ready to change the water heater that's getting old. (that's $600...).
Description of Work: The main water shut-off valve was a gate. The gate broke off a year ago, so it was impossible to shut-off the water from the house, unless you shut it off from the street valve (not practical)! I called to have the valve replaced entirely.

Very professional and thorough. Tradesman called me shortly after 8 AM (as requested in my email). Set appointment. Tradesman was on time and very cooperative. He opened the wall and modified the copper tubing routing to obtain the desired result. Our hose bib is now securely mounted (won't budge even when you pull on it) and flush with the exterior wall. The job done right the first time.
Description of Work: Wall opened on pool deck to access hose bib plumbing which was not flush with exterior wall. Plumbing repaired to align hose bib with exterior wall. New hose bib installed and secured to house framing.

I had done some preliminary excavation in my attempt to pinpoint the source of the water line break. When Mr. Harvley arrived he investigated and did some more excavation in order to find the up and down stream points where new piping could be spliced in with minimal expense. At that point I indicated I could do the required additional excavation and laying of new pipe which I would purchase at a local supply house. Mr. Harvley agreed that this would be the most economical alternative and refused to take payment for the agreed minimum of one hour labor. I was able to get the repairs done and my water back on that evening. It is refreshing in today's economy to have a professional like Mr. Harvley analyze a problem, give advice, and be satisfied with potential referrals as adequate compensation.
Description of Work: Mr. Harvley responded same day to my water line break between the water meter and my house.

Ron the owner quoted me over the phone $198.00 to install a water heater that I had purchased elsewhere. He showed up on time, was very professional, and took out the existing water and installed my new one. Although his quote was higher than every other quote that I got on the phone for an installation only job, I still hired him based only on the good reviews here on Angie's List. Yes, I could have had done it for $58 less at $140, but I'll never know how that would have gone. I believe you get what you pay for and I chose to have this plumber do my job so that I wouldn't have any horror stories later on. My heater was installed by someone who knew exactly what he was doing, was very pleasant, on time, and I had no problems afterward. I highly suggest that people should shop not only price when having important work done. I'm satisfied, and would recommend Ron and his company in a minute. I also believe that these recommendations on Angie's List go a long way in helping you find a great professional to do the job at hand.

If you decide to use this company, be very sure you know all of the charges up front.
Description of Work: One positive -- after leaving a message with the answering service, I was called back within 2 hours and told they could come out the following morning. Based on the other Angie's List reviews, I had contacted this firm by phone wanting to have a shower-head installed and a minor faucet drip repaired in the utility sink in my garage. Since I was having exactly the same kind of shower-head I have now just replaced by a more water-efficient one (not much more than placing the plumber's tape around the pipe, really) and replacing a washer in the sink faucet, any qualified plumber should be able to do these tasks very quickly. I asked if there would be any problem completing these 2 items in an hour, and was told it could well be an hour and a half. At that point, I was told there would also be a trip charge, which had not been mentioned previously even though I had given my home address up front. Does anything I've described sound like it would be worth more than $170??? Folks, I don't care how "nice" someone is -- these prices are way out of line for this kind of minor repairs. I can only assume the positive reviews are by seniors or uninformed homeowners who don't know what these services should cost. I was able to have the same work done by another Angie's List service company for $40.00.

Response from Certified Plumbing Services Inc
I only spoke with her on the phone. She insisted that we quote her a total price over the phone for services that she said she had parts for. She also requested a spray hose added to her faucet at the laundry sink and did we have parts for that. I told her that we would be able to install her other requests but the faucet at the laundry would possibly need changed to accept a spray hose. She insisted that it should only take an hour and that any plumber could do it 15 minutes. I responded by telling her that it may take the hour service call or being we haven't seen her particular situation, I could not make that determination over the phone. I never gave her a total price and offered to schedule the service call at our normal hourly service rates. She declined and said she would be noting that on Angie's List. I was very nice to this woman and did explain our rates thoroughly. She did respond with her review on Angie's List and even noted that she thought we had ripped off other customers. She has since changed that statement from her review. We have never had a bad review before and we do have concerns when we never did any work for her. Only a service request over the phone that she declined. I work very hard to give all our customers prompt, professional services and feel confident that we would have performed the services to her satisfaction. On some service calls (and with the nature of plumbing situations) we cannot always give exact time frames (over the phone) of how long a service call will take. If it turned out to be an easy service call, I'm sure our price would have reflected that. We are very sorry she felt the need to give us a bad review with just a phone conversation, but we stand by our reputation as a quality Plumbing Company. Thank-you Ron Harvley -Owner.

Our water heater went out the day we were leaving on a trip. I found this company on AL and they agreed to come out the next day, with my neighbor giving them access to my house. I also asked them to re-seat our master bath toilet, which had wobbled since our tile was installed a couple years ago. The company's owner, Ron, was very professional, communicative, and sounded knowledgeable and organized. He gave me an estimate of around $900 and stayed under that figure. My neighbor called the next morning after the job was finished and said everything went well. When we came back from vacation, everything was done as Ron had described, and as we expected. He had removed the old 40-gallon heater, which had become corroded and flooded with water, and replaced it with a taller, thinner model, also 40 gallons. Without prompting, he replaced all the piping from the wall and added a drain pan. The toilet, which I had tried to re-seat 3 times myself, was done. Ron did said it was very difficult and it took him a while, but we were very satisfied with the result. Overall we feel this was a positive experience and I would recommend this company to family and friends. Plumber is one of those professions that, if you get the wrong person or company, can really screw things up badly. I think we lucked out this time.

Certified was able to set an appointment for the following day, which was fine. Then they called back and said they could stop by that day, which was even better. The plumber called just before arriving which I always appreciate. He was able to replace the handle within 10 minutes. He offered to check any other issues I had since he was going to have to charge me the minimum 1 hour rate anyway, so I had him check out the other toilet which required you to hold the handle down longer than usual. He replaced a part there too. He also recommended replacing the very rusty tank bolts as they could begin leaking. He also looked at the water heater as a courtesy and recommended that be replaced within 6 or so months. He showed me the year of manufacture and said it was probably close to it's limit. He also pointed out rust spots that had clearly been painted over at some point. I was very pleased with the service and the helpful advice on the bolts and water heater. The plumber was very courteous and personable, and clearly knew his stuff.

My toilets were wasting water, my tubs were not draining properly and my kitchen sick whined a high pitched noise while on full blast. Overall the help was good; Wayne was the technician, we showed him all of the issues and he estimated about 1.5 hours at $95/hr. He also told me about how much all of the parts were going to cost. We started with the acid wash, then replaced all of the toilet parts needed replacing. He gave good tips along the way about how to keep your toilet part lasting longer. Then we got to the kitchen, it was able to stop the high pitched noise that I was complaining about; however, by doing so hie notably changed the flow of water while he was there, but neglected to do much about it. He was here for 1 hour from start to finish, then he went to get the paper work out of his truck. He spent about 5 minutes finishing the paperwork then came back with a bill of $382, $110 in materials and $142 in labor, plus a $40 trip charge. After thinking about it for a couple minutes, I noted the $100 discrepancy and asked him to make the change; which he did gladly. A day later, all is well. I am happy about the toilets and the drains. However, the work done at the sink was not worth it, the noise is back and I'm not happy about the varied water pressure. At the end of the day, that was at the bottom of the list, so it's not that big of a deal. I also thought that the extra 30 mins was a bit much, 1 hour and 15 would have been enough to cover his work and the extra time spent during payment. All of that said, I would hire them again.
Description of Work: Two tubs drains were acid washed; Three toilet flappers were replaced Two toilet Fill Valves were replaced; One spring in my kitchen faucet was replaced.

I was very happy with this company. They were very friendly and made an effort to explain everything to me. They were a little pricey but the work was great. They cleaned up neatly and took their time do it right. The quality of their work is excellent and I would use them in the future again.
Description of Work: I called them up to fix the water heater in my home. There were some heating elements they had to replace; it took them around an hour to finish the repairs.
