After 3 different estimates and 2 meetings with Paradise Exteriors, we went with this company. Their rep Bill S. was very friendly professional and gave us all the information we needed.

From start to finish the job was a complete fiasco.....The first quote was aprox $1,400 00. I asked them to please take out the permit, and they quoted me another $650 00 additional for this. !!!! I contacted the City of Pompano Beach Permit Dept, and was informed that the permit cost for my job would be around $44. 00, but as they had a minimum, it would be $60. 00. !!!!. I got back to Home Depot with this info, and they told me that was what they charged...........I refused to pay this, and offered them $300 00 for this service and they agreed. They had a couple of foreign 'Bruisers' tear out the old tiles.....these men also tore out most of the baseboards, and tore off some of the wallpaper around the base of the doorframes, which I photographed.... In the middle of removing the old tiles, they suddenly produces a long level, place it on my kitchen floor from which they had not cleaned the debris, and informed me that the floor was uneven, and that I should contact the store. I did this, and was informed that to level off the floor. would be another $750. 00. additional to the original quote and obtaining the permit. I refused, as the previous tile job looked fine. I did chip off a couple of small concrete hi spots with a concrete hammer, checked the floor for level, and all appeared O.K.

Subsequently, I called Home Depot, and told them I was ready for the installation. The tile man arrived, and I asked him if he was to re-hang my louvered doors etc, which the previous wreckers had removed when they tore out the tiles, prior to his commencement ? .....His comment to me was "Did'nt I have a handyman that could do that ? I told him to come back the following day, and rehung the doors, and repaired the door frames, baseboards, and torn wallpaper myself.

The very next day the installer started, bringing the supplies etc. He did a good job with the tiles, but when he had finished, he dropped a tool and cracked a tile in the center of the kitchen floor, and had to return the following day to replace same with new. Having finally finished, I saw that he had a couple of boxes of tile, and two bags of setting cement over, so I said to him, that I hoped he was going to take this overage with him when he left.......He retorted, that he did not do this, and that I would have to return these things to the store myself for a refund !!!!........I subsequently did slep these articals back to the store........I was mad at having to do this, and had several words with the Service Desk relative to their manner of completing and closing out an installation contract.......This whole scenario was very distressful to me, as I had expected a much more professional job from a large company. Finally for my aggravation, they gave me a Gift Certificate of $100. 00.

I had much correspondence with a Mr. Frank Blake. Chairman and CEO of the company, at his Atlanta, GA office, and also with sundry other individuals of the company, which I would be most happy to furnish upon your request. In closing, I can only say that I would never, ever use these people again, particularly with regard to the price gouging that is apparent, and I would caution any other prospective customers to keep their eyes open.

I Remain, Sincerely Yours, Captain: A. J. Gibbons. Thanking You.

To start, the sale guy never came to the first appointment. He's called and said he had car problems but failed to reschedule. I made another appointment and they showed up and for some unknown reason I trusted them and signed the contract. Apparently I had to pick the time when the company decided to centralize operations out of Atlanta and I somehow got screwed. I had to be in charge of communicating to make sure evening would be done and on time. Fact is that they e-mailed me that they where ready to tart the project after the sub-contractors had already wrapped up there first day.

From that point, I thought the roof was sealed and a rain storm came. My living room now had small ponds on the floor. The local store manager was great and gave me buckets and a tarp. A few phone calls later, I was told the roofer would be back out to take a look and the project manager would stop by. They all came and got the drips to stop. Hopefully the rest of this project goes smoothly.....lets we what Home Depot does to rectify the issue. I mean, my couch did get wet, I had to move the furniture and I had to clean up they mess. I got an apology, but that doesn't not make me so sure about using them for future projects. Maybe I should try Lowes!

UPDATE: It is now a few months since the project was done. I have had Home Depot come back out twice for leaks and was promised that I would not have anymore issues. Well, a rain storm came through yesterday and another one today. It was no surprise that I see water coming down my wall and dripping from the roof. I called the customer service line ad was told someone would be out by Thursday. I apologized to the call taker and told her that this is unacceptable service and that I should not be having these problems. She responded by saying the last issue was closed out and was not deemed a roof issue. I asked how could water coming in from the roof not be a roof issue. She claimed that a plumbing line could be leaking. I didn't want to make her feel stupid but I would first have to have plumbing lines in that section of the house, in which there are none, and it would be odd that a plumbing line would only leak in the rain.

Well, she took all my information and then asked me another stupid question. She wanted to know if I still lived at the same location. I wanted to tell her I moved to a new house and wanted them to fix the new roof, but she might take me seriously. I doubt anyone from Home Depot will read this nor will they care, but at least someone else might be able to sae stress and pick another vendor.

I spent quite a bit there. I have shopped at a number of stores in the area; some are newer and some are older but they all are about the same. Their pricing is competitive with other big box home improvement store retailers.

They're clean, orderly, friendly and helpful. The price is good. They do everything. They've got great parking lots. They're convenient. You can just get in and get out without problems. There were always lots of aisles to get in. Even when they check you, they check you so quickly that you're not even waiting.

Their subcontractor did the installation. The job was good. We had a little problem on getting together on when they were going to do it. It was a little pricey. They did a good job. They were very cordial. They were fine. They were very professional.

We went to Home Depot after receiving quotes from 2 other companies expecting them to be higher but just to check. They took our name and contact info and told us they would give the info to the contractor they use. The next day Joe from "Air America" called and introduced himself. He said they were the contractor for Home Depot and came that same afternoon to give the quote. We were surprised that his quote was only a hundred dollars more than our other quotes we received. He explained we not only get the warranty from Air America but Home Depot also stands behind the product, installation and service. Then there were some extras needed like insulation and a dryer on the line that they would do at no extra cost. He also pointed out that at this time Home Depot had a promotion of no interest financing if paid off in 24 months. This was a big savings as all other companies including Air America only offered 12 month no interest financing if bought through them. He said he would split the difference of the $100 they were over and gave me $50 off the price. He electronically put the order in right there in my Home on my Home Depot Credit Card. The next morning 2 polite professional technicians came out at 8 AM to begin work. By 3 PM I had a new unit completely installed. They also will service the unit at 6 months and again at 1 year. I coldn't be happier with the service from Home Depot and Air America.

Home Depot contracted another company to do this work for me. They were very professional and did a very good job correcting the previous company's error. I am sorry, but I don't have the invoice and don't remember the price.
