Overall, I was happy with the work and would not hesitate to recommend this company to others or use them again myself.
"99% of my customers are honest people... Over a month passed between the time I met with the homeowner and she called us back to coat her roof. Most of my customers work during the day , so it is common for us to start a job with a verbal agreement. All the rotten wood was replaced, the new wood was coated with kilz white primer, not "paint". In the process a termite infestation was discovered, obviously not rot...The roof was double coated and personaly inspected by me at 4:30 that afternoon (dry as a bone). No mention was made of the extra work done (wood trim around the garage door frame, a leak in the flat portion of the roof... I asked for no deposit on this job, and have received not a cent...I am certain this has happened to other contractors who have work for this person, and I am taking her to court to be made whole...Patrick Hamilton"
Latex coating on barrel tile: terrible over spray. They sprayed lawn chairs then turned them over so I couldn't see. They broke one of the straps on the chairs. They killed a 65 year old orchid and got over spray on all plants near house. Over spray on widows doors, and out door birdcage. They came back twice but did not clean properly. I do not know if the tiles were correctly secured as I cannot get on the roof.
I have called and sent several emails. Mr. Hamilton will not return my calls or emails. I joined Angies List just to be able to make this complaint. Thank you
"I was very surprised to read this report since I had not heard from this Member since we completed the work. This job was done 2 years ago. Regarding the birdstop – we replicated the cement to the best of our abilities. It is nearly impossible to match birdstops identically to a pre-existing roof which is original. More often than not these days, birdstops are manufactured using either metal or rubber. Obviously these materials would not look right on a 62 year old house. As to the overspray on lawn furniture of the rubberized roofing materials; we are very careful when we spray, and after close inspection – it appeared that what was on the furniture was house paint and not roofing compound. We attempted to help the homeowner remove it with our 4000 P.S.I. pressure washer, but it was soon clear that it had been setting for quite some time and our equipment did not budge it. As to your 65 year old orchid tree, this is the first I’ve heard of a 65 year old orchid (oddly 3 years older than the house. I’m not sure what it’s life expectancy is; but I’m sorry that it died. We try very hard to please all of our customers, but sometimes all are not pleased. Please accept our apologies."
"November 3, 2010 Pursuant to the letter submitted by the member on Oct. 17, 2010. Contracted with the member to apply Acrylux per The contractual agreement never was a leak mentioned as I would have absolutely corrected any/all leaks prior to coating. Upon completion as is customary with all my jobs visually inspected roof again didn’t notice any leaks or problematic areas. The member expressed his approval in A job well done he never articulated any issues, as a matter of fact he was so pleased he even offered me a beer!. Several weeks passed and during that interim South Florida had a major tropical storm, as such the member again contacted me to advice of a leak. Revisited his residence determined the leak was a result of the tropical storm offered to fix the leak for a predetermined low price as a professional courtesy, the member initially accepted offer subsequently called back and declined, as well as, having his daughter call to once again decline. Absolutely the member was extended the 20% discount on the Acrylux application as stated in my ad in The Miami Herald. I think my impeccable reviews on Angles list are very reflective of the level of service and integrity extended to all my customers. Additionally my reputation and professionalism are paramount to my business hence if in anyway I caused a leak I would have Corrected the leak without any charge I simply was not responsible for the leak As such, declined repairing something that was an act of nature. It’s very perplexing to me that the member was so pleased initially And then after the fact voiced his disapproval Patrick Hamilton Hamilton Bros Roofing"
