We went to the Office of Business licensing and found out that Mr. Froemming did not have a license and had pulled no permit to perform the work. The inspector came to our house and looked the closet over. We showed him the paperwork And he stated that there was no more than $500 worth of material there. We had also contacted two different contractors and they both said that the work they saw was work and materials were worth around $1500 to $2000 tops. and since Mr Froemming had done the electrical work without any license, that was a violation.. Currently, the building inspector is investigating. Here's a list of items: 1) Made promises of what he would do on the proposal and never did them. 2) He placed plastic and masking tape in the area where he was working and used masking tape to hold the plastic in place. When we removed the plastic from the carpet, there were stains from the masking tape that we could not remove no matter what we did to it. 3) We gave him plenty of time to make things right but he never did. He asked for our door key so he could have entry while we were away. This was unacceptable since we have two teenager girls in the house. 4) The price was in excess of what other contractors would charge and then he acted like he gave us a great deal, 5) We left messages with him to meet and discuss but he never responded. The building inspector was going to visit him and make him change the electrical to code. He said that he was also going to let him know that his prices were much higher than they should have been. The bottom line is that I would not use this person again. Also, it appears that his business address had changed to 505 West Gulf Blvd, Panama City Beach Florida.. In order to bring this matter back to a win/win situation, we feel that the company should refund at least half of the cost ($3500) so we could hire a real licensed contractor to complete the coffee bar and the other projects that were on the list. Mr Froemming should be ashamed for passing himself off as a fully licensed contractor. Don't get caught like we did. At the beginning, everything is, Sure, sure, we can do that no problem. Then towards the end, he needs the balance of the money so he can go purchase supplies and such. All the paint a tools he purchased with our money, we never saw anything again. He bought several gallons of paint (one being the wrong shade) and we asked him for the remainder of OUR paint and he never answered us. Please save yourself sleepless nights and go with some one else. The last time he was here, he made it a point to avoid us and tip toed out and left.
Description of Work: He was hired to build two simple closets in the master bedroom and a coffee bar in the kitchen. He came over several times and took measurements and my wife was in Florida while I tied up loose ends in Alabama. The intent was for the construction work to be completed before I arrived in late July. I met him in late July and didn't see him again until October. We kept contacting him and he would ask "How is next week's schedule looking for you?" He said he would show up but never did. My wife kept talking to him and he would make appointments and never keep them. He said that he had other jobs that he was working on before ours and needed to finish them also. We made him aware that we were not happy with the money we paid and what we were getting. We lived with a large hole in our bedroom for several months. He told us that the closet doors were all handmade by him from scratch and the drawers were also going to be totally handmade. Our "Proposal" said that the drawers were to be made just like the existing drawers. When he brought them over in October, they were simple drawers with no designs. These are items that could be bought at Lowes or Home Depot. He said that the design (which was a simple line across the drawer face) was too hard to do. We sat down with him and let him know that we were not happy with the work and felt that $7000 was too much to pay. (he was already paid in full back in July). He tried to justify that he used the best materials and the drawers would have cost us $2400 anywhere else but he wanted to help us so he did it for $1600 and said that he wasn't making any money from this job. He went to the back bedroom to do some work and before we knew it, he had snuck out and left. He would not answer our calls or texts. He also said that the $7000 DID NOT include the coffee bar.
