"please give myself (brian) or Harold a call to review. I don't understand the situation. 407-389-1400 Thanks!!"
Whole experience was very good however as you can see it is impossible to buy complete windows installed for $189 ea.
Their ad says *see details, below are the quoted costs of my window installation.
4ea) standard double pane insulated windows @ $189ea = $756
4ea) Prep to Code/Trim Kit @ $75ea = $300
2ea) Mull to Form Multi-Unit, @ $65ea = $130
4ea) half screens @ $15ea = $60 (optional)
4ea) Argon Gas between panes, @ $15ea = $60 (optional) I choose NOT to have this done. No regrets.
4ea) Solar Zone Low E Glass,(optional) @ $45ea = $180 I choose NOT to have this done. No regrets.
Setup and disposal fee $100
Total permitting fees came to $259. The permit cost $59 and Window World charged me $200 to submit the paperwork.
My bill initially came to $1845 I chose not to go with the optional Argon Gas or E Glass, and they graciously removed the disposal fee which dropped my bill $340 to a final total of $1505.
As you can there's no way the windows can be installed at the $189 advertised price. The most expensive extra parts were those plastic trim and mull pieces $430. The installation would have looked incomplete without them, why they're not part of the $189 windows baffles me?
As it worked out in my case the $189 x 4 = $756 then doubled it = approx. $1500 Total cost
In my opinion windows are just windows, not worth all that extra fluff technology they offer today, they are simply replacing single pane windows with double pane windows, that is enough. Don't buy into the E-Glass or Argon Gas, save your money.
I am pleased with service I received from Window World. They did the work timely, professionally and at a price I could afford, even though they could not honor the advertised $189 per window installed price.
Called for quote on 3-4-14. It took two weeks to get a salesman to arrive, measure, and estimate on 3-18-14.
Order was made same day and it took almost eight weeks to get the custom sized impact rated windows.
During that time, a couple of emails to the salesman asking for status updates were not returned.
I felt ignored but much later down the line, the salesman told me he had changed phones recently causing an email interruption.
The installers arrived on 5-12-14 and had all 11 openings changed out by the end of the day on 5-13-14. The installer went above and beyond on one of the windows that had some framing issues. Much thanks to him for not leaving me hanging on that issue and taking care of it. However, the first soaking rain that came resulted in a leaking front window where the arch window meets the double hung windows. Upon inspection, I found the stick-on trim piece between the arch and double hung had cracked caulking, if any at all. I felt it would take way too long for the company to respond to this and that it would come many more storms before they could come out to fix it, so I caulked it myself. This helped but during the next storm, I found that it did not correct all of the leaking probelms. I had to remove the inside trim piece and pull the inuslated foam out and test with a water hose to find where it was coming from. I later had to remove some siding and found that the rubber-gutter piece around the arch came down and met cracks about 1/8 inch big on both sides. My first attempt of caulking and closing the holes only fixed one side. I had to repeat the process again with filler and lots more caulk. And of course, I had to wait on the foam to dry out, test again the next day, and recaulk the trim piece back in place. It was a real pain having to work on this new stuff.
Also, I ended up having to recaulk the inside window seals and some windows all around -- for some reason, the caulking they did cracked down the middle of the caulk line. I really feel that for the amount of money I spent, I shouldn't have had to do all of this stuff... but I didn't want to use up my vacation time from work to wait and wait for someone to come back. Who knows how many visits it would have taken to get the leak fixed?
At the completion of the install, the installers were missing the screen door for the sliding door and one screen for a small window. They told me it would be two weeks to get it. At the end of those two weeks, I was told they were in the warehouse and just needed to be scheduled for install. It was another three weeks and two days before they were installed. And luckily, I was at home when the installer arrived.... because he didn't even know about the missing sliding door screen. He said it wasn't on his paperwork. But he "luckily" had one on his vehicle. If I was not at home, it would not have been installed and the wait would have started over again.
Now, on to the administration issue from their head office... When I tried to get my insurance discount applied, the insurance agency requested I get a letter with the company letterhead on it stating they installed the impact windows. I requested this from J.S. in the head office on 5-22-14 and she refused to provide this simple request. She said I could have my agent call her and I arranged that only to find out later that she would not establish communication with the agent. I finally got the insurance discount applied without the letter but this refusal to assist in such a simple matter really left a negative impression on me.
I did not have any problem getting the form filled out for the energy rebate from the electric company. It was filled out by somebody at the warehouse. I showed up there in person and they promptly filled it out and sent it back to me in the mail for signature.
Reason for ratings:
Price: B - Not sure about it, it's a lot of money, but they are double pane, argon filled, impact rated, custom fit to size. I should have done my homework better to know for sure.
Quality: B - Some windows needed spray lubricant right after install, installer mentioned springs break on them, and caulking developed cracks down the middle of caulk line
Responsiveness: C - Due to ignored message to sales in beginning, wait on scheduling and completion of missing items, and refusal of J.S. in admin to help.
Punctuality: A - When a schedule was finally made, they showed up around the time they said they would
Professionalism: B - This is a mixture involving communication & follow up... I feel it's lacking too much to be an A but most were polite and respectful. If I could rate the experience with head admin office - it would be a D.
