First off, they were very eager to obtain the b - it was called in on a Saturday. They performed the service, charged the system and the personnel sent out said they would send the bill in the mail. He said he works in the commercial department of the company and did not know what the cost of the service would be.  He stated he charged the system with 3 pounds of freon, that there was a leak in the system and this needed to be checked out on another date. 
I received a bill for $330, without itemization of cost. Sticker shock!!!! I started saving up the money to pay this amount. They sent me another bills, again, no itemization of the bill. The second bill was sent and I did not pay since I was saving up the money to pay. In a time span of 4 weeks, the third bill can with the threat to sue me for the cost of the service if I did not pay. The third bill was sent by certified mail and an Attorney's name was used to further threaten me to pay or get sued ,
I wrote back the owner of this company and advised him that he violated my right to get an estimate for the job he performed, therefore I did not make an informed decision as to whether to have them perform the service. Had I know the cost of service call and freon, I would not have asked for them to com out. 
I sent him a check for $330 and sent him a certified letter and  cc his attorney as well to inform them that they violated my right as a customer to receive an estimate for work. I also have a right to get an itemized breakdown of my bill. 
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY TO DO ANY WORK FOR YOU. THEY ARE A TOTAL RIP OFF AND I do not know why this company is still on Angie's List, which begs the question - it Angie's List really a trustworthy list or do these company simply pay her to be on her list. This company is Shady, and that is an understatement. 
Again, DO NOT call Shaw for any repair service. I stand behind my word. 
Needless to say, I am calling another company to come it today to check out the A/C - I hope this is not going to be another nightmare company.
Shaw's score - a definite F overall.

We seek to make all customers happy and with more communication we would have tried to correct any issues that you felt were unfair. Although, we do not officially offer financing, we have worked with many customers in the past to make paying easier. We are a local company that has been in business for 15 years. The majority of our customers are repeat customers due to our high level of customer service. We are happy to correct any issues that we know about."

I have used Shaw 3 previous times in the past 2 years for the same A/C related issues.  This was the 4th time.  The previous visits were in 09/2014, 08/2015, & 09/2015.  It is the same issue with the unit freezing up in the coils.  They had run a leak check previously and said they couldn't find anything last year.  Tech arrived today and said it was a leak issue but he wouldn't have time to do it today (too late in the day).  So I called the office to schedule a leak detection follow up visit again on Monday.  The tech told me he would refill the coolant today.  He did that and after being here an hour the price was $427.  The previous visits for the same issue (which is still unresolved) ranged from $125-160 per visit.  I asked why the incredible increase in price and he said the coolant cost has increased.  By 300% in 6 months?  He then said they have changed their pricing structure.  I attempted to use a coupon I had received from the last visit which had no expiration date on it for a $69.95 service call, but he said that was no longer accepted?!?  Not only am I out the $427 for something that should have been diagnosed correctly on any of the 3 previous visits, but I am also on the hook for $160+ visit on Monday for the leak detection!  $427 for an hour of work to add coolant.  After the leak detection visit on Monday, I will never be using them again.

We needed to have our 12 year old heat pump and compressor replaced.  From the research I did, I knew that installation was every bit as important as the unit itself so I wanted to make sure we chose a reputable company. In addition, my husband is nearing retirement, so every dollar we spend has to count, so we were looking for not only a company we could trust, but a company that wouldn't gouge us on the price.  After much research and deliberation we chose Shaw Mechanical Heat & Air Conditioning.  Our first contact person was Steve Hamilton.  He came out to our house the next day and spent lots of time going over every question we had, making sure we understood what our options were and how the process worked.  By the end of the day Steve had emailed us detailed quotes on two Carrier units (different SEER ratings).  At no time did he try to pressure us into a more expensive unit, either in person or with his emails or phone calls.  I had several follow up questions when we received the quotes, so I sent a quick email back to Steve.  He immediately called me back, answered my questions and even offered to come back to the house if we wanted to discuss things in more detail (we didn't).  Once we decided which unit we wanted we set up an installation date and they were able to accommodate the installation to work best with our schedule.  On the day of installation, Angel, the lead installer, and his partner, Anthony, showed up promptly and got to work.  They were always friendly and courteous and worked diligently all day, completing the installation at about 6:30 pm.  Angel and Anthony cleaned up everything in their work area before they left.
I had the occasion to call the office the following day to ask a question about one of the forms I needed for the Duke Energy rebate and the young lady I spoke to (Kristina) was friendly and efficient, answering my questions thoroughly.
I can't begin to tell you how pleased we are with our experience with Shaw Mechanical.  I would recommend them in a heart beat and expect to use them for any and all future HVAC needs.

I called Shaw and requested a tech to repair my AC unit.

They scheduled an appointment and called me just prior to that time to confirm.

Angle arrive and went right to work...he had his tool belt when he rang the door bell.

He inspected the thermostat and found there was no power to it.

He then went into the attic to check the air handler....must have been 140 degrees in that attic.

Angle ran some checks and found the float switch for the condensate drain was the issue.

He cleaned it out and reinstalled the switch and presto it was running again.

He was courteous, knowledgeable and he is my new A/C technician.

Yes I will call Shaw Mechanical again!

Arrived very late. Rushed around so he could get to another call. I had to show him where everything was including where the drain was located. Made no attempt to clean the air filter. Told me that the inside coils were getting clogged but made no attempt to clean. Suggested that I should replace ny whole system. Unit is still working despite this service. He was here a total of 45 minutes. Extremely expensive for the level and quality of service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ! The were very good last time. I don't know why they have gotten so bad.

Your sales representative Raymond Tossi sold me on your company by continuously providing superior customer service both prior to the sale and afterward. He is to be highly commended for his friendly, accurate and responsive character wherein he strives to meet the customers every need.  I have an extremely high regard for his professional services, and I look forward to a continuing relationship. The installation of my Carrier Infinity 8 Zone A/C System was conducted between 13 and 15 October 2014 by Supervisor Shareef Ynglada and Techs Herb Tudor and David Morton.  Their professional demeanor was evident from the very begining as they arrived on time, neatly dressed in their Shaw uniforms with clean and up to date Shaw service vehicles. Over the next 3 days they worked diligently as a team, ensuring every facet of the installation was done with care and accuracy.  And at the end of each day the entire work area was left clean and neat. Their attention to detail combined with their willingness and desire to satisfy the customer was exemplary!  Overall, it was a textbook installation. I've used this company twice. First time for a check-up and this time for repair of the fan. The staff is responsive and professional. The service tech was prompt, professional, informative and helpful. The office team was responsive and thorough with the estimate for work performed.
