Responding to an advertisement from Sears for appliance repair $75 plus parts I called for a reservation and was told the charge would be $75. But upon arrival the cost was more than double. Here is my followup email correspondence.
Thank you for contacting Sears. We appreciate hearing from you.
We apologize for any confusion however we are unable to give quotes over the telephone. All we are able to tell you is that if you decline the repair you will be responsible for a $75 trip fee. If you accept the repair you will not have to pay the trip fee only parts and labor. We have reviewed your service order and you were charged correctly.
We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused you. Thank you for shopping at Sears. We appreciate your business.
Sincerely,
Sears Holdings Corporation

Now explain why I was told $75 plus parts when I made the reservation and when he arrived I was charged $151 plus parts
The service guy, Louie came out. The first thing he said when he opened the cover was that we needed a new A/C unit. He barely looked at it. He said there was rust in the pipes which had caused a hole in the pipe and the Freon leaked out. We didn't believe him since copper does not rust. I called Sears back, in the mean time he called the MPP people, and when the lady on my phone asked to talk to him he hung up my phone, said he had them on the line but would not let me talk to them. He was extremely rude and belligerent. When we said we were going to call back he stormed off, not closing the unit, and leaving a big mess behind himself. We later found out that the service people get extra incentives for recommending/selling new units, and his numbers are very high compared to other service people. SEARS HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. Beware!
