They were polite
Description of Work: I called for an appointment for a free estimate and was given a date and time almost two weeks out. It was scheduled between 1 and 5. At 4, i called the office informing them i hadn't heard anything and would they still be able to come. After checking with workman, was told hung up on job and would be there after 5.. I waited til some time later when i got a call that it would be 7:30. By that time I no longer wished to wait or reschedule. I cancelled , I understand jobs can run longer than expected but i should have been called and informed of time and given the option to reschedule or not.

We had just had our home burglarized on a Thursday. The entry point was through the sliding glass doors and something seemed out of line after the forced entry. After finding them on Angie's list and seeing that they were rather close, we gave this company a call. The owner was able to come by on Saturday morning to adjust the frame. Really, I felt kind of silly because all that was done was this: he used a hammer to bend the frame back. I kind of wish I had tried that myself but you live and learn. He hit it with a hammer and it was fixed and we were content. Kind of bummed though that we were charged the full $80 for a 3 minute job.
Description of Work: After a burglary, the frame was bent and needed adjusted for security purposes and so the door could close and lock properly. A hammer was used to realign the piece: A very, very quick and simple repair.

We used this company for a very simple repair two months prior. After having a small amount of water enter the track after a rainstorm, we decided to call them again. We received an approximate appointment. The repair ended up being done 2 weeks after the initial call. On repair day, the two repair men stated that they could lower the door to prevent the water from coming in. They warned us that the stationary door would then be more difficult to open once lowered. We were okay with that since it was not the door we opened. The problem was they lowered it COMPLETELY down. It was so low that from the outside, I was able to easily pop the door off out of its track since it barely met the top frame. We were burglarized 2 months prior and this left us extremely vulnerable to thieves again. Regarding the function, prior to them coming out, I could easily use one hand to open my door. After they lowered the one stationary door, it then affected the door that we use to open. Literally it took two hands and all my strength to open it and it scratched and scraped the whole way. We called the owner and he seemed confused as to what the problem was. He did eventually say that they should have been lowered in tandem (together), not just one door. I explained to him that they just lowered one and was disappointed in the condition they were left in- they were worse off than before. He was nonchalant and said they may be able to come out the next day but was wishy washy on confirming. I ended up taking a screw driver and raised and lowered them over and over until they both were aligned again to where we were before they even touched them. We called the owner to let him know we fixed them back and asked if there were any other options (such as weather stripping) to keep water from leaking in. He said no, there were no other options and all he had to offer was to lower it down again.
Description of Work: After a very heavy rainstorm, the stationary side of our sliding glass doors allowed some water to leak into the track. 2 men from the company lowered the one door flush with the track, thus affecting the function of the moving door. Also, it was so low, that it almost fell out of the top frame.

Service tech showed up on time and told me some wood jamb trim was binding and needed to be cut back. Said I should fix it myself or have a trim carpenter do it. My trim carpenter questioned the recommended solution and suggested I call in an Andersen rep. The Andersen tech immediately saw that (1) the jamb trim which A Sliding Door Repair said was the root of the problem had been installed backwards and upside down, but this was an appearance issue only, and (b) the original GC had failed to install some other parts (I suppose he assumed they were duplicates and disposed of them). I paid for Andersen to supply and install the missing pieces. I am astounded that A Sliding Door Repair apparently knows nothing about how sliding doors operate.
Description of Work: Called to diagnose and repair some Andersen sliding french doors which were sticking. These had been installed a few years ago by a general contractor as part of a larger remodel.

I called this company on Saturday morning and they answered the phone. After describing the problem, I was told they'd come in on Monday morning between 9 and 10. Based on that I expected to be a couple of hours late for work. No one showed up at 9:00 or 10:00, so I started to get the feeling that they were not coming. About 10:15 I got a call from Michael saying he was running late because of the rain and asked if I would be home in 15 minutes. Since I already wasted 2 hours of work time waiting for him, I decided to wait a little longer. Unfortunately though Michael did not show up until 11:00 AM. What really sucked about this is the type of repair performed. Michael looked at the door and asked if I found a big screw. When I said no, he went to his truck and got a screw. He used a mallet to put the aluminum piece back in place and then used a power screwdriver to put in the screw in an existing hole. This entire repair process took less than one minute! When I asked him how much he wanted for this work, he said $80. So I wasted 2 hours of my time and paid $80 for replacing a screw! Since they were late and the job was so easy, I expected them to offer some discount, but they did not. I was disappointed and felt a little 'screwed'.
Description of Work: Sliding door aluminum panel was separating. This turned out to be caused by a missing screw at the bottom of the door. They simply replaced the screw and the door was fixed.

Employee was prompt and courteous. He explained my options and did not try to oversell. However, I am disappointed at the remaining wind noise.
Description of Work: 3-door sliding door was hard to slide. Employee removed one door and replaced rollers with lower profile rollers. Door slides freely. However, now I notice that the slightest wind whistles around the frame. Did not previously have that problem.

Diagnosed problem quickly and installed double wheeled track rollers that had the door sliding smoothly in less that 1/2 hour. had to call back after he left as the door would not close properly. He came back later that day, made adjustments and we are very happy with the job. Previous repair by another company was short lived and not as professional.

After a false start on the appointment time we made the correct time and he got right to work. gave an estimate and using the BG DEAL from Angies list the proce was OKed and the work started. Remoced the doors and screen and cut the track off. Mesured for a new track and rivited it in place, reassembled the doors and screen cleaned up and like a good camper left no foot print that he was here.
Description of Work: Replaced the sliding door track and rollers excellent service and hopefully the doors will work for many more years. Professional service on time and clean up afterwards would use the service again for other doors as I know he will not need to come back for this one

I tried to hire this company twice to help fix my sliding glass doors. Both times I was told that they would get back to me right away, and both times I was left with no response. I talked to the owner of the company and informed him that I had contacted him over a month ago to get some work done, and he replied that it must have been someone else at his company that I talked to. Later in the conversation he acquiesed that he did, in fact, remember me and my door issues, but that he didn't know if he could get the part he needed. Instead of coming out to ever take a look to see if it was something he could fix or remedy, he asked if I could take pictures and send them to him. I emailed pictures of the problem, and again, after two weeks, have heard no response from this company.

I had called Michael back in the spring and he said he could do the job I was requesting. However, things in our lives took a different turn throughout spring and summer and here it is mid September. I called Michael on Monday, (9/20/2010) and he said he could be out to replace the rollers in our sliding door on Tuesday (9/21/2010). He showed up on time, was very friendly and professional. He set to work, discussing an option to replace the rollers or simply clean them and we concluded that replacement was the best idea. He finished the work in about a half an hour and charged us a very reasonable price. He was careful, neat about his work and did a superb job. As we tested the door, I was quite grateful that we had opted to replace the rollers. The door works better now than it did when this house was new (five years ago). It is smoother rolling and much more quiet than before. I would highly recommend Michael for any door work and will absolutely use him in the future.

The sliding glass doors, which were oversize, were difficult to open or close; moved with bumps and difficulty, stopping in several places along the track. We thought we would have to replace them, which was an extra expense, along with the labor, that we didn't want to do. Our Handyman thought they could be repaired. We called and spoke with Michael Kibler, owner, who said they could be there the next day at noon. They arrived on time, professional, and repaired the sliding glass doors (along with the screen) within the hour. After they repaired the doors, they moved smoothly and were easy to open and shut. Very happy we didn't have to replace the sliding glass doors.
Description of Work: They repaired the sliding glass doors, oversize, (along with the screen) which go from the family room to the back porch.
