Upon moving in we soon discovered that the windows were installed improperly. We had an inspector come to our home who indicated that one of our windows was leaking with moisture in the wall and mold. We hired another company to eradicate the mold, and they too confirmed that the water was coming from the leaking window as it was not installed properly. The water also ruined our new hardwood floors. The company advised us to contact Sun Air Windows to have them correct the problems with the windows. I spoke to Erik Diaz, who came out to the house to assess the problem. When we mentioned the damage to our floors, he immediately became defensive and stated that the mold eradication company must have "messed" with the windows and that they were installed properly. He then proceeded to try and cover-up the bad installation by quickly trying to tighten the screws in the windows and wipe up the water. My husband asked him to stop so that we could first take photos of the damage so that we could submit it to his insurance carrier to pay for the damage to our floors. He continued to try to cover up the faulty installation. After he left, the mold eradication company checked the other windows for leaks and found 2 other windows were also installed improperly and leaking with similar damage to our floors. When I called Erik to tell him about the other windows, he said he was with a client and would try to call me back that day. He didn't. I then called numerous times the following day only to be told by his employees that he was still with another client. When I pointed out to this employee that I believed Erik was just blowing me off, and asked him if Erik really was with another client, he replied he didn't know anything about that. I said I wanted to speak with the owner, and Erik picked up the call. He told me he was the owner---apparently this is a family run business. He kept telling me that the damage to our floors was due to our sprinklers. When I said it shouldn't matter the water source, the fact is the windows are leaking, he told me i don't know anything about windows or window installation. I replied that may be, but i know they aren't supposed to leak! Erik told me if i wanted the issue to be resolved, i should have the mold eradication company call him. The contractor/owner of the mold eradication company called Erik, and Erik tried to get him to fix the windows, to which the owner replied he would so long as Erik would put in writing that that wouldn't void our warranty. Erik then reluctantly agreed to come out and repair the windows. He came out, and allegedly repaired the windows. However, he did not test them to see if they were still leaking. Before leaving, my husband asked how he wanted to handle the damage to our floors. Erik replied that he wouldn't as the damage was due to our sprinklers. When I called Erik, he refused to answer the phone or return my call. I called the company main # and spoke to Erik's father who was equally rude and unprofessional. He started to tell me how great his company was and how they have never had any customer complaints. PS I looked them up on BBB where they are also rated "F" with 3 complaints for poor work performance and product. The father also refused to pay for the damage to our floors. The next day the mold eradication company tested the windows, and 2 out of the three still leaked! The mo,d eradication company further told me that Erik used an inferior sealant on the window screws, so even the one window that he did fix would not last long. These people are horrible and unprofessional. I would not use them.

They ordered 2 of the same kind of windows, put them in backwards and upside down, and they don't open. They still want their money. I'm taking them to court.

We signed a contract with Sun Air to install impact windows. They required 50% down, which was $5,400, which we have paid. He included (in the total cost of $10,800) $1000 as he told us to cover the cost of the permit. They were supposed to pull the necessary permit and start work and they have not done so. We paid them on February 11th and they have yet to get a permit. They told us they are licensed in both the city of North Miami Beach as well as in Dade County, but I have found out they are licensed in neither. I have made several calls, only to be told that they are going down to pull the permit and blaming it on their insurance company. My daughter called for me and didn't even identify herself, but they somehow knew exactly who she was talking about and told her they never said they would get a permit.
Description of Work: Installation of impact windows (20 windows).
