Purchased sofa and 2 recliners from Kanes. Was told repeatedly the covering, "bonded leather" was durable. I was told repeatedly the furniture was guaranteed for life. I was also told that if we had ANY problems with the furniture, just call, Kanes would make it right. Furniture was delivered DEc., 2011. We used it three months, and then six months when we returned to Florida the following November. So in total it has been used about 10 months. We are an elderly couple, husband is handicapped, no little children using the furniture and yet.........the bonded leather is falling off one of the recliners. It is on the back portion of the front, and of course, very noticeable. I have called Kanes about the situation and tried to be very nice about it. It was a total waste of my time. The store manager told me it was too bad! My warranty period was over. Not a darned thing he could do. Tried to explain we are snowbirds, furniture had been lightly used. Frankly, he was as unconcerned as he could be. It's no wonder this furniture store has gotten so many complaints, but had I read them before I bought my furniture, I never, never would have considered them for my furniture purchase. Needless to say, I warn all friends and neighbors. Before you buy....read reviews on the BBB website and Consumer Report. I wish I had!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE: After complaint to the BBB they finally called me. Sent a rep to look at the furniture and take pictures. They called to tell me the replacement parts had been ordered and would be here about Feb. 12. I've called repeatedly to tell them the parts were NOT shipped to my home. I stopped in the store and talked to the manager. She said the parts were not shipped due to the Chinese New Year. Seriously? Have since called three times. absolutely NO RESPONSE. Have reported them to the BBB again. I just want a refund so I don't have to EVER deal with these deadbeats again!!!!!!!! Totally false advertising!!!!!

Our experience was so different from the prior 2 reviews that we felt we needed to leave a review. We visited the Kane's Furniture in Ocala in May, 2013. We dealt with Diana. We found what we thought was the perfect dining room set and accessories for a new sunroom we were adding onto our home. We put down a deposit and were told to call when the room was nearing completion. At that time we thought it would be about 5 weeks. As the project progressed we re-designed the room and changed the goals for the room, all of which took additional time. I received 2 calls from Diana asking how everything was going and reminding me to contact her when we were close to completion. In the end, we so totally changed what we were doing that the furniture which was perfect in May, was no longer perfect come early August. We made 1 call to Diana to explain the situation. She agreed that the furniture would not work with the revisions we made and within 2-3 days, a refund of our deposit posted to our account. We consider that fantastic service. We would use Kane's again and definitely would use Diana.

I had to stand my ground in order to get them to deliver a replacement that was undamaged. They acted like I was unreasonable when I demanded a replacement. For crying out loud, one of the shelves wouldn't fit because the hole for the bracket was in the wrong place.
Description of Work: They delivered 2 expensive wood filecabinet shelving combos they were scratched up. They sent a repairman to my house with crayons to try to cover damage. Also, One of the shelves didn't lay flat. This was the second bad experiance in 2 years that I have had with them. Back in 2010 I purchased a bedroom suite from them for my mom's assisted living. It arrived scratched in several places and they failed to attach the mirror to the dresser right. I will never buy another piece of furniture from Kane's again.

Our overall experience has been HORRIBLE to say the least. We work hard and we spent a large chunk of money on a furniture set that we thought was a good purchase. Turned out to be the worst purchase we'd ever made. Waiting 10 months for service or staff that cares is absolutely unacceptable. I finally had to file a claim with the Better Business Bureau. The day after I filed the complaint, a woman called me from Kanes (of course). She was unbelievably rude! She actually attempted to tell me that they were working with us as a COURTESY and really weren't supposed to have ordered the arm repair materials to begin with. Um....What?????? She was one of the store's MANAGERS, talking to me like I was scum. She continued to be rude and argue with me. I insisted that she let me explain what has been happening in the past 10 months since she was new and obviously didn't know the history. She didn't listen to a word I said and I believe she held the phone away from her head until I was done talking. She then got back on the phone and said..."ok, can I talk now??" as sarcastically as she possibly could. I simply said "don't bother" and I had to hang up. I am enraged by this company's complete lack of care or interest in quality and customer satisfaction. I am posting my story every where that I can to let everyone know what could happen to them if they shop at Kanes. I have found 100's of reviews that are stating similar stories of bad products with even worse customer service.
Description of Work: We purchased a sofa and loveseat from Kane's in Ocala in December of 2010. We were impressed with the Quality so Good it's for Life slogan. The sales associate was nice (of course...she was trying to sell something). We purchased the replacement insurance on the pieces thinking that would be even more protection in case something should happen. Within the first few months the plastic piping that fills the edging detail of the furniture started to pop through the fabric. In MANY places. No problem, we thought. We called Kanes and they sent a technician out to hand sew the material back together. Then we noticed that the legs of the furniture were cracked and some were actually broken. We called Kane's and they sent us new legs to put on the furniture ourselves. Some of those were damaged as well. Then the piping started coming through in all kinds of NEW places. We called Kanes and they sent the technician back AGAIN to hand sew the items. Finally in October of 2011 the once full arms of the loveseat began to collapse completely. By November they were completely CONCAVE. We felt around the furniture and noticed that was NO batting in the arms. Just wood, cardboard covering in a rounded shape, and then the furniture fabric. It was a shock to feel how poorly made the piece was. It actually hurts to rest your arms on the loveseat. The couches arms were made completely differently. We called Kane's YET AGAIN. The tech that came out examined the items and said that it was from extreme use and not manufacturing that the caused the damage. Extreme use???? You mean actually sitting on furniture is extreme? Were we supposed to just look at it but not touch? After we convinced him that the couches arms were completely different he put an order in for all of the replacement items needed to repair the arms. And so we waited.....and waited........In a couple months we started receiving pieces and parts. One box here, another box there. One would contain metal buttons, another had some various parts in it. Each time I would get a box I would call Kane's myself to let them know. Each time I was told...."just call us when the fabric gets in" Fine....I can be patient. So we waited and waited some more. I made a few more calls to the store after than checking on the status of our fabric, since no one at the store would bother to call us about anything. All I heard was the same.. "call us when the fabric gets there."It is now September 2012. I still have NO fabric. I still have NO ONE at Kane's that cares.
