"This is a great example of why you should not work for friends. This homeowner called us before hurricane Ian was even over to come and fix his damaged house. We jumped right on it even when our own house was flooded. We even repaired a family heirloom to help with his pain from his flooded home. He added additional work on top of the damage to take advantage of the insurance money he thought he was going to get. We gave him a rough cost for the work and continued to work even when his insurance money had not come in yet and he was behind on his draws because he was a friend and we trusted that he would pay us. Formal proposals were given and receipts were also given for his insurance company. When he didn't get as much money as he thought he was going to get from his insurance claim he began to back peddle on the cost and his budget got tight, but we had already demoed and re-framed his bathroom. As we got to the end of the job we tried to come to an agreement and when we showed up to do the work we were told that we would not get paid until the job was complete which was a change to the earlier agreement that we had. We left until a new agreement could be reached. No new agreement could be reached."
"All of the items we are being accused of not doing did in fact get done. This homeowner wanted above and beyond what would be considered normal construction and was above what was in his contract and what was allowed in his city. At the start of the job we tried to accommodate his requests and absorb the extra costs, but when he refused to pay a change order for extra electrical work, we felt it was in our best interest to stop his job until an agreement could be met. We sent a certified letter to the homeowner which he refused to accept and an email stating we would finish his job within the budgeted price but he had to pay his change order. The homeowner did not send us a response. The homeowner then closed out our permit and finished the job himself before sending us a reply of termination."
"We are sorry to see in this review that you were not happy with the product that we provided. We would be happy to come back and fix it, please call our office and we will send someone back. - Bret Jones"
"We full-filled our contractual obligations to this homeowner, but he felt that we owed him more than what we were contracted for. Therefore; he wrote this review and his accusations are untrue."
"We were contracted to design and build an addition. We had numerous meetings with the city and brought in a plansman who started working on this project. In the meantime, the homeowner was having issues with a roof leak and we sent people to try and find the leak and to do a quick patch as they wanted to rent out their house for Air BnB. We spent time and material to attempt to complete this, and after we initially sent workers, the homeowner discovered another leak at another area of the house, but were unsuccessful in the limited amount of time prior to hurricane Ian to locate and fix the leaks. The homeowner then asked to put the remodel on hold, keep any money we used for the repairs and hold the remainder for the future addition when they were ready to start again. We didn't hear from this homeowner for several months until we received a nasty message saying we stole her money. She then filed a dispute on her credit card and toke all the money back including anything owed to us for the work we completed. Her attempt to hurt our company is unwarranted,, unfair, unkind, and false."
"This homeowner used us for his flood insurance. His remaining deposit was returned."
