Small Time Movers

Had an appointment for a quote that I left work early to make sure I was in time for. No one showed up. No one called. When I called to ask where they were Leandro (not the original person I spoke with, that was Gabriel) had no knowledge of my appointment and Gabriel was "busy doing something but could get back to me in about an hour". I can't risk that kind of nonchalant attitude when moving day comes.

It went wonderfully, this was a complicated process as I moved to another city after everything was in storage, but they were willing to continue working with me and deliver my goods when the new house closed.
I have moved many, many times (over 20) and believe me, this is the best moving crew I have every had the pleasure to work with.  I was dreading the ususal hassels and wondering what would be broken and/or missing.  Due to their care, only one item out of an entire 10x20 packed storeage room even had a chip.  That is extradorinary.

Don't let the name of the company fool you: Small Time Movers aren't small time by any means: this company is big time in every way!
The 3-man team was scheduled for 8:30 am and arrived at 8:25. FANTASTIC! (Anyone whose hired contractors in South Florida knows how rare it is for them to arrive on time.) Unfortunately, my old condo association did not let them enter the premises until 9 AM. Did they get upset? Not at all. Nelson, the gentleman leading the team, was patient and understanding. They waited patiently across the street in the public parking lot until 9 AM came, and began work immediately.
When they came upstairs to begin, Nelson explained what they were going to do, step by step. As he explained, his crew, Leo and Edinson, began moving our belongings. Shortly thereafter, they were off and running. We sat aside and even had breakfast while they worked, and boy did they work. They moved fast, all while taking incredible care not to break, damage, dent, tear, or destroy any of our belongings. For example, many of our boxes were labeled "FRAGILE". The guys were extremely respectful of those labels, and treated those boxes with care, communicating with each other when they had a fragile-labeled box that was being passed from one guy to another, ensuring that everyone was aware of what they were handling. They were incredible. They wrapped up our furniture very securely, making sure to take extra care to ensure nothing could or would be damaged in transit. 
As for getting our things down to their truck, only one elevator was working in the building that day, so they had to share the elevator with other tenants in the building. They were still able to get everything downstairs with a couple of hours. Again, these guys are fast. They recognize that the customers' cost increases with each passing hour, and do their absolute best to move quickly and safely to ensure you get the lowest cost and best service.
Once everything was in the truck, they drove straight over to our new condo and began moving our belongings upstairs immediately. No lunch break, even though they deserved it. (In retrospect, had I known they were going to skip lunch, I would've bought it for them. It would've been a small price to pay for how hard they were working.) Again, the guys got to work, and we just sat by and watched them work. Now, this is where things get really good. Every time they brought new stuff upstairs, not only did they ask where the items should go so that they could place them in their correct spots, but they even placed the furniture in its proper place within each room. Our bed? Against the wall that faces the ocean in the master bedroom. Nightstands? Clearly next to the bed. Couch? In the den, also against the correct wall. They made sure everything was in its proper place, saving us the hassle of having to move boxes and furniture again later.
Once they were done, Nelson took the time to explain the details of the costs. There were no surprises. They were clear about what they charged and why. Best of all, even though I requested they be there at 8:30, and they weren't allowed to start until 9, they only charged me from 9 AM on. How great is that? They didn't have to lose out on a half hour of billing, but it was kind of them to not charge me for that extra 30 minutes. Nelson was well within his right to charge me, but chose not to.
A few points to consider when you hire this company:
1. Things go faster if you stay out of their way. Don't hover over them. Don't bother them. Trust them, give them space, stay out of their way, and they'll get the job done fast. We did, and it was fantastic.
2. Make sure to have everything packed up, because they charge by the hour. If they have to wait for you to pack anything, or if they have to pack it for you, that adds time to the process and money to your final bill. Furniture doesn't need to be packed up; they'll handle that. But do pack everything else that fits in a box. Again, we had everything ready to go, and it seemed to make their job easier and my bill cheaper.
3. If possible, have beverages available to them. It allows them to rehydrate when necessary and keep working fast to move your stuff quickly and safely.
Overall, I am ecstatic with their work and will certainly use them again; no question about it. My sister, who was there to help me with the move, was so impressed that she's already stated that she'll use them during her next move. I also have other family who are planning to move to Miami Beach, and when they do, I'll make sure they use Small Time Movers.
Thank you to Nelson, Leo and Edinson. You 3 made the start to our new lives in our new home a fantastic one. Thank you so much for taking care of our belongings like they were your own. I'm looking forward to continued business with you in the future.

They stuck to the price and finished on time. The only problem was they were 20 minutes late, they attributed this to traffic, however there is always traffic in Miami, so they should have planned accordingly, since my condo association gave us a 3 hours to move out. Overall everyone  did a good job and I would hire them again in a heartbeat!

Small Time Movers was by far the best moving company that we have ever used. The team was respectful and caring of all our things (nothing was broken, scratched or dented). They took extra care and helped us immensely by padding all the furniture before it was ever moved into our new home that had brand new floors. They went above and beyond our expectations in organizing our new home. We will certainly be using them again for any future moving needs.

Nelson Molano was excellent he gave us a great price and a straight forward quote. Nelson and Leandro were very efficient, took great care of our things and moved us VERY quickly. They are very respectful and genuinely nice guys. I would recommend them to anyone moving in Miami. Ask for Nelson.

We would absolutely use them again!

They did not handle very well an expensive and NEW mattress - as a result - it got dirty and one of the handles got damaged. |I also was expecting a lot more from them (based on Angie's list reviews) - They have a rep (Gabriel) who was nice but I was surprised to see that he does not even have an e-mail address with the name of the company - which does not look professional - in the website, there is a telephone and a contact (Edson - who is the owner?) - no one ever answers this phone or return calls. Overall disappointing experience, considering I did not even get a phone call to check my satisfaction - especially in regards to the materess.

Gabriel and his team were amazing.  I have never had such great experience with any moving company.  They were professional, courteous, efficient, prompt, and hard working.  I moved half of my house back in August and will definitely use Small Time Movers again when we are ready to move the rest of the furniture and boxes.  Gabriel and team, you guys rock!!! Thank you. 

Gabriel did a fantastic job. They moved some heavy equipment for us which is not a norm for them.  Had to use some of our equipment to help with the move as they are not equipped for such a task. So in short, as long as you have the means to assist with a heavy equipment move they can provide the labor and truck to haul it.



Showed up on time, very clean looking truck, inside and out. Very easy to work with. Will use again...

Nelson, Leandro and Alex showed up on time on the moving date. They did a fantastic job. Nothing was broken or lost. All furniture were covered, protected, dissembled and reassembled at the new location. Great company at a great price. Will use again. Thanks.    

The job was in two phases: in March they picked up our furniture and boxes for storage where the items remain. In January we will have them delivered to our residence. (Note: I wanted to wait until the whole job was finished to do the review but persistent emails led me to respond now.)

It went well. They did what was expected of them. They were a little late arriving but called to notify me that they would be late. As a result and due to apt building and elevator restrictions they ran out of time. However they negotiated with the building to get the extra time . They were very polite and professional which is rare in Miami .

Small Time Movers was able to take a job on short notice. They moved everything flawlessly, were punctual and very professional

They were prompt, professional, and extremely pleasant and upbeat throughout the move day.  The estimate done a week earlier was very close to the final price.  It did end up being more than quoted but that was due to the unload up the narrow staircase took a little longer with the bigger furniture.  Even with this overage, their price was extremely fair and significantly below the two other Angie's Recommended providers we got moving quotes from.
We packed everything so all they had to do was move.  There were a few art pieces we asked them to pack last minute, which they did but it was not the same level of packing we did on our own.  We had one framed picture glass break.  However, given everything they moved that seemed pretty minor.  I do recommend, however, that if you have very fragile or items you are really concerned about that you go ahead pack and transport those yourself for your own peace of mind. 
By the end of the move day, we couldn't believe the entire crew was still smiling and joking.  This is an experienced crew that clearly worked very well together.
I definitely recommend them for any local move!

Small Time Movers did an amazing job. Very professional and courteous. We were extremely pleased with their service and would use again. Arrived on time and moved my whole home in 6-7 hours.

Mauricio and his team did an excellent job of moving all of my furniture and boxes to my new apartment. The move even included a challenging over the balcony furniture drop which the team handled with ease. All were very nice and professional. I would recommend them all day every day.

Our move was based on an hourly rate of $85, plus $85 for the truck and gas.  This was to include 3 people, but 4 showed up, which was great since the move went faster than expected. Nelson, his wife, a nephew and another young man showed up right on the agreed upon time and got to work.  They worked well together and the truck was loaded and on its way in 1 hour.  He explained my options of wrapping all the furniture or not, I choose not to. Nothing was damaged and they were very careful each step of the move.  At the North Miami destination, they unloaded the truck and asked where I wanted each piece as they entered the condo.  It went very smoothly and they completed this part of the job in 1 hour also.  They made the entire experience as easy on us as we could have imagined.  We highly recommend them!  

Small Time Movers were outstanding both in the services provided and the price charged for them. After another moving company backed out with little notice, the company was very responsive and easy to reach.  Their people showed up 10 minutes early with gear in hand and ready to work.  There was never any gruff, attitude, or anything less than absolute professionalism.  Almost everything was packed and out within 4 hours, then they moved much of it into storage prior to my move out of state.  I can only give highest marks to this company and its employees and would certainly use them again if the need arose!

They showed up at our agreed upon time/date and packed most of our items a few days before the actual move. Our move included packing almost all of our personal items. They work quickly, efficiently and carefully. They did underestimate the amount of items that needed to be packed which resulted in additional packing time on the day of the move and two trips to completely move all our possessions. Despite this problem, they managed to stay within our budget and come very close to their original estimate. Overall, we were satisfied with our move. We would recommend them to anyone considering a move and we would use them again when we need to move again.

The 3-man team from Small Time Movers picked up furniture & misc. items from our daughter's roommate's house first & then loaded up the equivalent of a bedroom & living room (plus so many boxes!) from our house. They wrapped all the furniture and fragile items and methodically moved everything onto the truck in record time. Once at the apartment, they remembered which items they had picked up from the roommate's house & put them in her room. They assembled the bed and sectional sofa, they patiently rearranged the bedroom & living room furniture as we changed our minds about the configuration, cleared out the wrapping & trash, and were pleasant and helpful the entire time. We were quoted $85 an hour plus $85 for the truck, plus whatever tape & shrink wrap they used to protect the furniture & artwork ($21 in our case). The total price was $403.50, and Angie's List members are given a 10% discount. I estimated it might take 4 hours because of the two stops & having to carry everything up to the third floor, and they were done in 3.5 hours. We were very impressed with their service & great attitude, and we recommend them wholeheartedly.
