I recently hired Cedric to repair some walls in my home, and unfortunately, my experience ended far from satisfactory. While the handyman initially seemed competent and the repairs appeared acceptable, the next day one particular wall turned to an extremely unsightly condition, resembling the attached photo, for which Cederic would not fix unless we paid him an extra $125. (Which is approximately the cost to fix a patch in the first place.) At first glance, it seemed as though the handyman had completed the repairs adequately, and he requested payment, which we did pay. However, in the morning it became evident that he had painted before allowing the spackle to dry, resulting in noticeable bubbling, peeling paint, and an unprofessional finish. This amateur mistake was unacceptable, especially considering it was within his area of expertise. We promptly contacted him to address the issue, expecting him to rectify his mistake without hesitation. However, to our dismay, he responded by saying that we had already paid him and he would only correct his mistake if we paid him more money, even though he had sufficient time to handle this aspect of the project while working on other projects in our home. The uneven finish of the wall was a product of poor planning and time management on Cederic’s behalf, and should not have cost us additional fees. His approach felt like a deliberate attempt to nickel-and-dime us, taking advantage of our need for a resolution. Despite expressing our dissatisfaction and explaining that the problem arose due to his own negligence, we were forced to endure weeks of frustrating back-and-forth communication. It is incredibly frustrating to encounter a handyman who demonstrates a lack of professionalism and accountability. After paying for the original repairs, it is unfair to be expected to pay an extra $125 to fix a wall that should have been properly repaired in the first place. It is an unfortunate experience to be nickel-and-dimed for a mistake that lies solely with the handyman. In addition, we also found numerous fuzzy hairs and fuzzballs embedded in our fresh paint. It was evident that he had used a dirty roller. This sloppy oversight is a clear indication of the lack of attention to detail and carelessness demonstrated during the job. Moreover, the worst part of this whole ordeal was the unprofessional attitude displayed by the handyman towards my wife. Good customer service should be a priority for any professional, and blaming my wife only exacerbates an already unpleasant situation. It is disheartening when a service provider fails to treat customers with respect and understanding. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against working with this particular handyman. It is both frustrating and unfair to be expected to pay an additional $125 to rectify a wall that was initially entrusted to his care. The insistence on additional charges for rectifying mistakes, and the disrespectful attitude towards customers are all significant red flags. In light of this experience, I encourage others to seek out more reliable and reputable professionals who can provide the level of service and craftsmanship expected when hiring a handyman.
