It was a disappointing aggravating experience. Brought in a 3 year old 13"inexpensive TV/DVD for repair of just the DVD holder that was stuck in the eject position. Asked for an estimate prior to work; proprietor requested a $20 deposit (I only had $13 cash, which he accepted when he couldn't change a large bill I offered). I specifically explained that it was a cheap older TV and I did not want to spend alot on this effort. He called me the next morning; told me the repair would require alot more work than he thought and it would be $90. I told him NOT to do the work; that the TV had cost me only $100. so I did not want to invest more. He was obviously annoyed, but offered to fix it for $70. I said again, NO, please don't fix it. I'll come get it. While on the phone he was obviously aggravated; he asked me what I thought electronic repairs were going to cost, and what I would have spent and I told him that I had know idea what they cost. I was only willing to spend about $30. That's why I asked for an estimate. In fact, for his benefit, I took time to print out a current add for the exact TV I was repairing - which now costs $129. (Three years ago, it cost about $100, as I previously stated). About two hours later, I went over to the shop to get the TV; and was told that it was in fact NOT READY for pickup because his repairman had not yet reassembled it. I was surprised, because I had told him on the phone not do do the work; he knew I was coming over there to pick it up, too! The proprietor then pointed to a side wall in his shop where a sign was posted that I think said the minimum price for repair is $47.50. I was ANNOYED, and told him that he had NEVER mentioned that and NEVER pointed out the sign to me when I was in yesterday; in fact, at drop off he asked only for a $20. deposit/.He then told me he would repair the TV for $50 total (including the $13. I had already paid). What nerve he had! But I said OK because I really didn't know what else to do! I wanted my TV; and I knew I would never go back there again. He told me my TV would be ready at 3pm. When I arrived home again I realized that I could not be there at 3 and called to find out how late he would be open. He then told me the TV was ready for pickup and I went right over to get it- paid the balance due with cash, and left the store, never to return again. The proprietor gave me some explanation about how everyone has their own idea of what they are willing to pay for repairs of various items, but frankly, I didn't want to listen and just wanted to get out of there. The DVD holder was back in place; I haven't tried using it for playing a DVD yet, but the TV works fine (as it did when I brought it into the shop) so I am satisfied with the work done. But I am not satisfied with the way I was treated . What could have been a simple pleasant experience became an irritating chore; but at least I know where NOT to go for service.

They didn't tell me that there was going to be a service fee to pick up the DVD player. When he came out and didn't really say much about the speakers, he told me he would take in the DVD player and told me they would call me before the weekend to give me an estimate. I gave him my credit card number to show them that I wanted them to fix it if the estimate was approved. No amount was discussed. I called Saturday afternoon and left a message, but they didn't call me back. I saw a charge on my account for $64.50 and called but got no response. I went in on Monday, and they hadn't even looked at it. He told me it would cost more to fix it then to buy a new one. I told him to hold my $64.50 to apply to the re-wiring job if I decided to go through with that. I went back in and asked for my money back, and they told me that the charge was for coming out and picking up the player.
Description of Work: I called him to get some service done on my DVD player. The drawer wouldn't open. I asked him to give me an estimate on that and to re-wire my speakers.
