Car stopped running, had it towed to J's. J immediately tested, systematically eliminating the most likely causes according to his knowledge of my particular model and year. The coil within the ignition assembly failed. It was replaced and the car runs perfectly now. J also recommended some other work the car needs, and proposed an economical way to deal with it in the near future.
I have been going to J's for years. He is an expert mechanic, experienced on antique, classic, older models, and current new cars. He does everything from oil changes on new Hondas, to rebuilding Corvette Stingrays and MGBs. He quickly diagnoses the problem, whatever it is or how unusual, and charges a fair price for the repairs. For my cars he has put a rebuilt engine in an Explorer, diagnosed and replaced a clogged catalytic converter in a Honda Civic, and other things. Sometimes J appears on TV when the local stations need to consult an expert on an automotive question.
