My squirrel cage motor was dying for the 2nd time. Had budgeted money to replace the AC unit this year, so it was time to make a move. My neighbor had their unit replaced for about $3000. It was a York system installed by unlicensed installers. They did a good job with the install, but pulled no permit, didn't replace lines, didn't fix ducts. Basically just replaced the units. They quoted me $3500 to replace with a 15 SEER Goodman unit, he would mastic the air handler room and flush the copper lines for the new refrigerant. I also went to Appliance Direct in person because they advertised a 16 SEER Goodman for $3100, installed. After 2 days the AC installer hadn't called, called AD again, they took my name and hung up on me. I'm now wondering what happens if my system breaks down. They eventually call 2 days later, 4 days after my first contact and haven't called since. Jay has been doing the maintenance work on my old unit for about 4 years. He has always done a good job, been prompt and professional. I left a message with him and he called me right back. Came out the next day and gave me an quote of $4300 for a Bryant 15 SEER split system with a heat pump. He told me that he's not the cheapest, but it will be done right and he guarantees his work for 2 years. He described to me the all the steps he was going to take in the process. Having seen his maintenance work on my old system, I know that he does what he says. In addition, Jay is on the FPL list for rebates on new higher SEER systems. This choice was a no brainer. We signed an agreement on Thursday and scheduled the install for Tuesday morning. They arrived that morning when they said they would, and began removal and prep work. The prep work included repair of the air handler space (patching, mastic, foam) and installation of new copper lines. They installed both units, connected the plumbing and wiring. They installed a new thermostat, charged the system and then tested. Worked perfectly. This took about 8 hours. Jay was here in the morning, Gwynn and Frank finished the install. Jay came back the next day, added the heat breaker and finalized all of the details to be ready for inspection. I am very impressed with the quality of their work. The inspector signed off the next day. One of the main factors I had to consider was what unit to get. I live 1500 ft from the ocean and the salt eats all metal except aluminum and marine grade stainless steel. York and Lennox do not sell in my area anymore because I believe they lose money on warranty work. I liked my old Goodman unit, it lasted for 15 years. Goodman units are inexpensive and a good value, but I worried about the quality of their manufacturing now. Particularly how the little components (fasteners, clips, fittings etc) of the compressor would hold up to the harsher environment. This is where companies tend to cut corners for cost. Additionally, anyone can by a Goodman unit. This means that they are not particular about who installs it. If a problem occurs, will the installer point to Goodman and then Goodman points back to the installer? There is a gray area of responsibility. Bryant is a division of Carrier corporation and they are more particular about who they allow to install their units. So there may be less of a chance of conflict between manufacturer and installer. Bryant gives a 10 year warranty on parts like other units in this class. All the manufacturers now use the scroll compressor which has fewer parts in contact with each other so the warranty's are now longer. The installed unit is very quiet both inside and out. Jay brought us a case of filters. They are an odd size, 19 7/8" x 20 1/2". Don't think I will be buying these at the HW store. But then I ordered my previous filters from FiltersFast anyway. So far, I'm very happy with my unit and the experience we had with Jay and his guy's. I also know that if there is ever problem, I can rely on Jay to resolve it.
Description of Work: Jay, Gwynn and Frank removed my old 1996 Goodman compressor and air handler, then replaced it with a 15 SEER Bryant. Their work was top notch. They replaced all of the copper lines, installed a new copper drainage line with sump pump, replaced the line flashing, added a concrete pad, used rubber footings and hurricane straps on the compressor. Inside, they removed the old air handler, patched and mastic'd all the holes in my air handler closet (from retro-fit for this old house) and insulated the compartment with fire proof foam. Gwynn did nice work fitting all the flow control features into a small compartment

Have used Jay's Air & Heat services previously; continues to perform prompt, high quality work with high qualiy products. Removed all old duct work from an attic that is difficult to get around in due to the cathedral ceilings. Installed new duct work throughout and ensured all connections were properly sealed. Outstanding work again. Well trained, skilled workers with an excellent attitude. Again followed up to ensure continuous quality operation after the installation. Truly professional organization.
Description of Work: Removed and replaced all HVAC ductwork to include connections.

Outstanding experience. Mr Martin and his crew were very knowledgeable, technically proficient, worked a rapid pace, but not too fast. Very personable crew. Installed exactly the type of equipment I wanted and by my preferred manufacturer. They made absolutely certain everything worked well before they departed and made follow up checks to ensure continuous operation. My electric bills have decreased remarkably. I would utilize their services again and have recommended Mr Martin on numerous occasions since.
Description of Work: Removed air conditioning and heating units and replaced both.

The work was scheduled promptly after we accepted their bid. They scheduled to start on a Monday so they would have plenty of time to finish before the weekend. Jay's had estimated 3 days to complete the job. They actually finished in about 2 1/2 days. We were at home during the week keeping one of our grandchildren. They were pleasent to work with and we were able to coordinate where they were working with where we hung out with our grandchild. Although they were cutting through the ceiling to remove and replace the outlet boxes in every room of my home, they minimized the dust and debris as they went along and cleaned up at the end of every day. This was greatly appreciated by my wife. When they completed the ductwork, they checked out the system and tuned it. They discovered that the unit was not properly setup by my previous A/C contractor and they corrected the system settings. The system runs much better now. While checking out the 2nd A/C unit, they discovered that the system had a Puron leak. Rather than fix the leak (and charge me for it), Jay suggested that it should be covered by the waranty I had from the installing contractor (which it was and cost me nothing to fix). Needless to say, I am very satisfied with their work and professionalism. I have no reservations in recommending them.
Description of Work: I had problems with moisture condensation around my outlet boxes and issues with incorrectly sized ductwork. Also had problems with the air handler installation from another A/C company the previous year..Jay's completely redesigned my system (which included two A/C units), removed all of the 50 year old ductwork and replaced it as well as retuning the A/C systems. The work required them to replace and sometimes move outlet boxes which required cutting into the ceiling. They also added a return air duct to improve the air flow.

Description of Work: Jay's Air and Heat were referred to me by Tony Ray homes. He came to my office building and fixed an A/C system that had been installed by another company 3 years ago and had never cooled properly, it was never beow 78 degrees. I had the other company out 4X and they could never fix the problem. Jay had the unit cooling to 65 within a couple hours and found the source of the problem. I plan on using him in the furture for all of my Rela Estate properties and construction. He is honest and thorough in his work.

Looked over my a/c unit and room not getting air. Explained problem and told me he would provide an estimate for work he said needed to be done. I called him about a week-and-a-half later as I still had not received an estimate. He apologized and said he had sent it (not likely), and would send it again. Called again another week later and left a message stating I had not yet received an estimate and have never heard back from him. No return call, no estimate. Decided to find someone else. I don't appreciate being lied to twice, and not receiving a return call. He knew I was willing to wait if he was very busy (I told him so when he was here), since he had received good reviews here.
Description of Work: Called and he came within about 1/2 hour as he said he was in the area.

I'm very happy. The air conditioner probably broke sometime in the afternoon, but I didn't notice the air wasn't working until 5:45 pm because the house was hot. This is of course after business hours. I called Jay's -- expecting he wouldn't be able to come until the next morning. I was suprised when he said he could be at our house at 8:00 that night. He arrived before the scheduled time and diagnosed the issue quickly. He even had all the necessary parts on his truck to not only fix the essentials but to replace the power junction box (which had crumbled when I had been investigating the problem before Jay's arrival). I would use him again and recommend him to all my friends.
Description of Work: Made a late night service call. Diagnosed the problem with the air conditioner. Replaced the motor, capacitor, and power junction box. He pumped out the drip pan drain and checked the freon levels. This restored the air conditioner to perfect working order.

I've used them several times. I own a real estate company and I use them in our property management as well as at my office and my home. I've spent a lot of money with them over the years with different properties, but this particular one was about $130. Jay is very responsive, very reasonable and extremely honest. I would hire him again in the future.
