I rate them 0 even though I am directed here to provide a star-rating. Did not compete the job. Bay Area Heating and Cooling sold me my HVAC which is large enough for a 4 BR home when I have a 2 BR condo. It’s huge. I was totally upsold with special (hurricane) pad for the condensing unit to sit on and new thermostat inside. So when I needed service I naturally thought to call them. The air handler was dripping inside and the drip line outside was not. To my surprise, they had not installed a drip pan for this upstairs unit. The condensate line was filling with water causing the safety valve to shut off the unit. They scheduled me an appointment for 24 hours later in 90 degree weather. I am a senior and retired with health issues. The service man called and showed up 30 minutes earlier than scheduled which is fine. He brought in his shop vac and cleared the drip line. So he thought. 15 minutes after he left I decided to check the inside air handler. IT WAS STILL LEAKING! While he was here he wanted to check the Freon. I told him that was not necessary that it has been cooling fine. He said that it was included in the price and proceeded to check it anyway. When hooking up his meters to the unit white Freon was spraying out of it. Then he unscrewed the lines switched them. Took a picture with his cell phone and said that it was low in Freon. He also tried to sell me a halo to prevent mold inside the air handler. In the meantime he had placed a thermometer on the unit and said that it wasn't cooling properly. On his report he stated that "the customer declined to check for possible leak and declined to complete the system with refrigerant. NOTE: The system is not working property." I called them back to let them know that the issue they were called to fix, clearing the drip line, was not done. They told me that I refused to add refrigerant and that as long as it is lo refrigerant was low with a possible leak that the a/c unit would continue to leak water from the air handler. I had gotten a second opinion and called them back again. The refrigerant and a possible leak has nothing to do with the condensate line being clogged and the air handler dripping. She said that was going to read the report again and I told her that the report was BS and I was hung up on. I was charged $69.95 Diagnosis Check and $162.97, a total of $232.92 to clean line and drain pan (remember-no drip pan). I am going to expose them as the thieves that they are. I am calling Angie's List and the BBB. I am also calling channel Bay News 9 and be directed from there to complete my complaint.
