Arthur's In-Home TV Repair

My outdoor tv picture went completely out. I called Arthur and he came out to my house and diagnosed the problem. He took the Tv back to his shop since he had to order the parts that were damaged. (This was not an easy tv to repair) He called a few days later to let me know he fixed the problem and even resealed the tv for me for outdoor use. He brought the tv back to the house helped me set it up and it works great. Was more than a fair price for his services and he has excellent customer service. Would recommend him anytime. Arthur came to our home and diagnosed the issue in little time. He took the offending part with him and returned when it was done! Very easy, all costs were laid out plainly and the work was done well and quickly. Would definitely hire again!!

My TV repair ended up being kind of complicated. Arthur was very diligent in trouble-shooting and came back twice until the issue was resolved.

Our TV is 15 years ago and was no longer turning on that well. Arthur came out and did a thorough check and unfortunately, due to age, could not be fixed. We appreciated how prompt Arthur responded to our request and came to the house to see if he could fix. I would contact Arthur again if we have television issues.

Our 46” Samsung LCD works fine now. Arthur was prompt and very professional and clear with the work he had to do.

Great service. He scheduled an appointment just a day or 2 after my initial call. Arrived at the house on time and completed his work in about an hour. Prices were reasonable and he took a few extra steps to make sure the problem was taken care of before leaving. It's been a couple of months since his visit and my TV continues to show no signs of the initial problem. Would definitely use his service again.

My Samsung Smart TV started turning on and off by itself. I found this to be a not uncommon happening to many smart TV's or other such electronics. Various reasons were given on the internet. Various "cures" were given - none effective. I called Arthur after pricing a new TV. He was prompt, professional, worked right in my home as advertised. Stayed with my problem and solved it. It took some time in my case, but instead of replacing a New 55 inch Smart TV, I have my old - like new - TV for $250.00. He replaced the mother board, the power source, cleaned everything, diagnosed everything, explained all and counseled that I was better off with this old model and fixing than with total solid state newer models because the parts can't be replaced. Works great. Did have to wait a few days for the new mother board, but it beats the potential $1000+ or more output depending on bells and whistles. He's honest, informative, and price friendly. Many repairs can be finished right in the house same day.

Parts did not work first time but ordered parts for 2nd time. All worked well.

It took 2 visits to repair. On the first one Arthur diagnosed the problem and had to order a part in order to do the repair. He was punctual, professional and explained what needed to be done. He returned as soon as he got the part and installed it. We were pleased with his work and work ethic. It was nice to not have to take the TV to a shop for repairs.

The sound issue was repaired but unfortunately a flyback transformer is needed on my additional set and the part is now obsolete based on old technology no longer being manufactured! Supply and demand!

My large screen plasma tv went black. He took it off my wall and figured it out in a few minutes. It took a few days to get the part but the tv is like new

He came over and checked it out and said it would likely need a new power board. He told me he would call with a price when he checked to see if parts were available for a reasonable price. He called me a day later and quoted a price and told me that if that did not fix the problem, there would be no charge. He took the set and returned it a day later. It powers up and works fine. This was a very nice experience. Arthur knows his stuff and does a very good job informing the customer about the extent of the potential problem, the approximate price to fix it and then delivering on his promise to fix the set in a timely manner. I'd call him again without hesitation. An excellent transaction !

He gave a very reasonable cost to fix the TV as compared to quotes that I received from other places. He clearly explained what board had failed, cost and duration to get a new one and called me and came over promptly once the part was received. Efficient in house servicing.

He called us immediately and came out the next day to do the repair.

Arthur was great! He was very professional and really nice. I have an older Vizio 50 inch plasma HD TV, and the picture went out. I was pretty worried after searching the internet; it seems this was common for the unit and sometimes it couldn't be easily fixed. I called Arthur late in the day, and he offered to come that day. Wow! I wasn't expecting thatI I asked if he could come out the next day instead, and he said it was no problem. He did a thorough inspection of the TV and showed me what was wrong. He took the board back to the workshop to replace all the blown pieces, and came back the next day to install It. It worked like a charm! I can't tell you how thrilled I was; I like my TV and really didn't have the time or the money to go out and buy a brand new one. Thousands saved and my TV fixed in under 24 hours. Arthur is the best!

Arthur was extremely punctual. I requested a service call on Saturday morning via Angie's list interface, he reached out to me almost immediately. We scheduled for Thursday service call. As promised, he called me in the morning to confirm our appointment and I was still available. Received another call before he came over. He was very professional when he showed up ensuring that I was aware of exactly what steps he was going to take to resolve the issue and cost involved obtaining approval before proceeding. Excellent care was taken in taking apart and putting together the TV. Arthur also provides a 90 day warranty on the work he preformed along with providing a business card in case we have any questions and/or issues in the future. Overall, very pleased with the communication and price charged for work preformed. Hopefully, we won't have any more TV issues in the future but if we do, I'll definitely use him again :)

When I called Arthur the first time, after my TV picture would not come on, he answered immediately, but said he was just returning from vacation (I believe he was in the car). It was New Year's Eve when I called, and he said that with the holiday the next day, he really couldn't be out until the following week. I told him it was not an emergency, so I offered to call him back on Monday, 1/4, to schedule an appointment. I did that and he asked me when the best day and time would be for him to come. I said Tuesday, 1/5, would be great if possible. He asked me a few questions, and we set up an appointment for Tuesday. He called me while on the way and said he would be there shortly. He had already told me what the price would be for the service charge ($55) to come from Buffalo Grove to Huntley. I felt that was very reasonable. He arrived promptly, was extremely courteous, and got to work immediately after asking me details of what had gone wrong with the TV. After a few minutes he called me in the room and explained what he thought was going on and where the problem was. He explained it in a way that was very easy for me to understand. He said he hoped that was where the problem was, but if not, he would have to work on the circuit board (he showed me where that was), and that would be more expensive. But, he said he would not start on that unless I gave him the ok. It wasn't more than about 15-20 minutes later that I heard the TV go on and heard sound. I went back in the living room, and the picture was on and as perfect as it had been prior to going out. Arthur got the TV back together in a short time, cleaned up anything around the TV, and all was good. He charged me $185 to fix the TV and the $55 service charge, which I felt was very reasonable. I was quite concerned that I would have to purchase a new TV, but Arthur assured me that this one now should work very well for a long time to come. I would recommend his services to anyone having problems.

He showed up to my house, he was here for 5 minutes. Asked for $45, told me he would call back and I never heard from him again. Basically I'm not even sure if he repairs anything. I think he just shows up to collect money and then leaves! Who is this guy?! I feel like I have been robbed! Thanks Angie's List for your inaccurate reviews! What a joke!

All went well. Arthur was extremely professional and upfront about next steps if his efforts didn't fix the TV.

It turns out the screen went bad. Arthur found the part but it was cheaper to replace the unit.

iArthur came out to look at our Sharp flat screen tv because it was unresponsive with only a blinking power light. He charged $55.00 for the trip fee, showed up when he said, but needed some other tools, so he came back a few days later. The first time he came he was here for approximately 2 hours. When he returned, he completely took the tv apart to get to the backlight, which was the cause of the problem. He worked on it for 4 hours. He didn't replace anything, but checked all the connections to make sure it wasn't a connection problem with the back light. When he put it back together, he said we could give it a try and if it didn't work, we would need a new backlight, which he would have to order. It did work, but he said if it stopped working for any reason, that I should let him know. I paid him $200.00. 2 weeks later, it went back to not working, so I called him. He had to see if he could order a new backlight and he would let me know. He called me back and said he couldn't get one and that I could call someone else if I wanted to, but that he would send me my $200.00 back. I just received my check in the mail. He worked on my tv for at least 6 hours and I only paid $55.00. He was very polite, showed up when he said and called me when necessary. He wasn't even angry on the phone when he told me he was returning my $200.00. You don't find repair people like this very often, that's for sure. I would use him again and refer my friends and family to him. He was fabulous!

We had a power outage from summer storms and heat. Afterwards, when power was restored my rear-projector TV wouldn't turn on. I checked AL for options and found this contractor who for the most part had positive reviews. I called and we spoke briefly about my problem and the type of TV I had....then we scheduled an appointment. He called the morning of the appointment to agree on a specific time. He arrived on the button of the time we agreed to. He quickly set up his tools and drop cloth and told me what he was about to do. Then he did what he told me he was going to do...opening the TV to get at the electronics. In a short period of time he told me what he thought was wrong and that he thought he could fix the problem that day. But he told me that once he was inside the problem component it might be worse than he thought and that he might have to send for a replacement. Fingers crossed I wished him luck to fix... and find a cure that day. He found the problem and fixed it. Then he told me that he would clean and re-adjust the projection and that I would be pleased with the better clarity on the screen. He made all the adjustments and BAM...the picture was better than when it was new. I think this contractor was perfect, in professionalism, price, quality of work and speed of repair. Most importantly he saved me from buying a replacement for this expensive TV.

Arthur is very polite and was able to schedule a timely mannered appointment. Our Vizio TV would turn on but no picture would show up. He had all the necessary tools and fixed it quickly.
