Moving Ahead Services

Today's move of my elderly parents into an independent living community could not have gone better as far as the equipment and personnel from Moving Ahead Services is concerned. The move was difficult for my parents because they have lived in their home for 53 years and my Mom has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and is having challenges dealing with the changes in her life. Jake did an excellent job leading the team and everyone who participated in the move was courteous, kind, polite and patient with my parents and family members. I would certainly recommend Moving Ahead Services to anyone planning a move.

When I initially hired them I asked for their best movers and I said I was willing to wait as I was a particular person. They showed up an hour late and the move was to take 4 to 5 hours. The workers were complaining about the pay they received as they were packing my furniture. I felt bad that they were complaining and as a result, I asked them what I could do to help them. I purchased $1000 worth of blankets and materials to keep everything protected. After completing loading things up, I had to fly out so I had my realtor lock the house up after they left. It ended up taking 9 hours for them to do the move. Before the realtor arrived, they damaged the door frame, a wall, and the ceiling. The closing on the house was supposed to take place after that and had to be postponed so I could have someone come in and repair the damage. They said the truck was broken down and they would arrive three days later. Within those three days, they unloaded the furniture from that truck and reloaded it into another truck. When the furniture arrived to my mother's house in North Carolina, the delivery guy called me the day before it arrived and asked if I knew the dining table was damaged. He then told me the truck did not break down and they were waiting for him to be off another project so he could deliver it. After they delivered the damaged furniture to my mother's I found there were hardly any blankets used and all the furniture was scratched. I met with them in Florida where some of the other furniture was to be delivered and found there was even more damage to that furniture. I had even tipped the workers $100 each. One of the workers said he had never seen anything damaged so much in his life. Monday morning, Nicole called for the remaining payment of the move and I told her I was still waiting for the remainder of the bookcase to arrive and I had a horrific experience with damaged furniture. She had nothing to say regarding my problems and said I needed to file a claim. She called me back on Wednesday and said I needed to pay the balance by Friday or I was going to be turned into collections. After she threatened me, I reached out to the CEO of the company, Jeff Collins, to explain to him my mistreatment by the company and that I would like to hear back from him. The vice president of the company reached out to me by email and said he would touch base with me later by 10 AM on Friday. He finally got back to me at 12 noon that Friday with a phone call I missed. I immediately called him back and got no answer as this was within minutes. I left a voice message and attempted to call him back at 4:30 and got no answer back and no phone call. I am still waiting for the phone call back as any reasonable company would have escalated this to be taken care of.

Very professional and responsive staff... from their sales staff, to the moving teams, to the administration personnel. Very responsive and patient with all my questions. Stayed right on schedule.

Crew was awesome, very professional and personable. I can't remember their names, was a couple of months ago, but those two guys were as professional as it gets. I would have spent all day trying to do what thay did in a half hour. The company overall was great, and I would definitely use their services if I ever need to move again. Reasonable rates (get what you pay for, cheap is not the way to go with your stuff), professionalism, and punctuality. Good company, and I highly recommend them.

The whole team from start to finish was very professional. Liz and Kayla followed up with me after my initial quote and to see if I had any questions. We had to delay the move by 1 week and they worked everything out with me by email and phone. The movers were very professional (Josh and crew) and wrapped everything so there was no damage. I was very happy with the service and the cost estimate was right on target. I would definitely use this company again.

I love it! They were great, they did everything what they said to do. They showed up on time, very professional, and a little bit pricey but it's worth it.

Perfection. The ladies were awesome. We all were a team in arrangement of items and their responsiveness to our family’s needs. Super job. They are returning this week.

All went well except the truck broke down AFTER it was loaded. All items had to be loaded onto another truck. But the two movers were very professional and kept their attitude positive even though they had to sit and wait for new truck to arrive and then load new truck. These men were excellent employees in their work ethics and cheerful attitude. Worked extra hard to keep our move at the 3 hours.

I was hospitalized with pneumonia the week before my planned move. That meant that the days I intended to pack my home were spent out of commission. I leaned heavily on extra pack/move services from Start Moving. The movers were so careful with my things when packing, and they worked two LONG days and then a little more on the third day. I really don't know how we would have gotten it done if not for their help.

Please get all verbal requests and moving specifications in writing and in the contract, as this company is very deceptive and demand full disclosure prior to any payment. I cannot understand all the good ratings for this company. I feel the movers did a good job in physically moving the items, however.

They were good. They were excellent. We needed two moving trucks. They had to load it, take it back to Lakeland and then come here. Because it took so long,they wouldn’t have been able to do it in one day. It was a two day move. It is like 100 miles from where we live to where we moved.

The team was very responsive, professional and helpful. After the experience we had with prior movers (where many of our items were damaged) they were a breath of fresh air.

Overall, very good. However, when movers are on a time basis for pay, I could've done less with the small talk. Also, they should bring their own refreshments.

Prompt and courteous, but careless, damaging expensive furniture. On day of service, they offerred insurance coverage at extra cost. Unfortunately I declined. Paid for two hours -- they completed work in 45 minutes. If they worked as a team vs. individually, the damage could have been avoided. Would not recommend.
