I called Red Rhino and scheduled a leak detection appointment. I paid $350 for the leak detection which I thought was a little over priced. They did find the leak and made a temporary fix. Red Rhino's employee (Pat) was very helpful.
I scheduled a proper leak fix and another team member came and fixed the leak. Again, the employee was very professional and very helpful. I was charged another $350 to fix the leak (empty my spa, remove the concrete, add new concrete/cement and re-finish the spot). This time I thought that $350 was pretty cheap.
The total cost was $700. I think the global price is reasonable / normal for the problem I had. In my opinion, I just believe that $350 for the leak detection is over priced but $350 for fixing the leak is inexpensive.

That pricing is based on what we provide (full testing on all plumbing lines, equipment, and the interior surface of the pool) as well as a 60 day warrantee and the guarantee to find your leak, which might be different from other companies who might charge a little less for a leak detection. There are also companies who charge a little more than us for a leak detection. We also credited $100 of the money spent on the leak detection towards the cost of the proper fix. So, another way you could look at the break down after the leak was fixed was that you paid $250 for the leak detection and $450 for the repair. Either way, I am thankful that your leak has been properly fixed and that your pool is no longer losing water. The technician, Stephen Johnson knocked on my door at exactly the appointment time. He set up his equipment to verify all the pipes and to rule out that the leak was not between the pool and the pump. Next he jumped into the pool with goggles and went inch by inch checking all the tiles at the top of the pool. This took over an hour. He found several areas of concern. He applied a temporary patch. He sent me a complete report including pictures and a quote for the repair needed while he was still in my backyard. He was very knowledgeable and personable. I was very impressive with Stephen and his employer.
I had spoken with another local leak detection place, who originally told me that the fee was $250 but if they needed to get into the pool it would be another $100. I am not sure how anybody could solve this problem without getting in the water.
I highly recommend Red Rhino and I am very happy that I finally have the problem resolved.

On Thursday of last week I called to make an appointment to get an estimate for a leak I have in my pool. I was told that they were very busy and that the first available appointment would be Tuesday (yesterday) May 6, from 2pm-5pm. I am losing water daily so I reluctantly made the appointment. That was yesterday. My wife waited all day from 12pm until 7pm yesterday but nothing. After waiting 5 days and refilling my pool daily, NO ONE SHOWED UP, NO ONE CALLED TO RESCHEDULE, NO ONE CALLED TO SAY THEY WERE RUNNING LATE, NOTHING. They wasted our time, our energy, our efforts to have someone there when they arrived, and they wasted 5 days of refilling the pool of water. Do not use them if you need someone reliable, punctual and/or professional. Just another typical south Florida contractor you have to beg to come out so you can give them money.
UPDATE:
Obviously my initial review got their attention. On Thursday, May 8 I received a call from Brian from Red Rhino who apologized and admitted that somehow my appointment fell through the cracks. Brian offered to come out that day to locate my leak and offered to discount the service $100. He came out that day located the leak at the pool light and applied an epoxy. Total charge was $195 and the problem was resolved.
"Unfortunately this experience was the result of a simple mistake. This customer called on Wednesday 4/30 to schedule an appointment, and the person in our office accidentally clicked the wrong date on our digital calendar (the rep scheduled the job for Tuesday 4/29 rather than Tuesday 5/6). Since the job was scheduled for a date in the past and never even knew it! As soon as we found out the mistake (from reading this review) we promptly rushed out to complete the work, and offered the customer a significant discount for the inconvenience. Making mistakes from time to time is part of being human. I believe we resolved this error in an understanding and professional way. Jake"

We are very satisfied with both the initial leak detection and the following repair work done. We would use Red Rhino again, and will recommend this company to our friends and neighbors. Angie's list provided a $100.00 OFF coupon for Red Rhino leak detection and repair, and that was happily applied to our bill by Red Rhino. As part of Red Rhino's service I received a completed project statement, the day following the repair work being done via email, outlining the repair project which matched the original job quote outline, the completion of the job, as well as two photographs; the first one showing the break in the pipe before the repair was completed, and the second photograph showed the newly cemented over patch of the completed work in the pool deck. I felt this was another excellent demonstration of Red Rhino's professionalism.
