Working with Kasica and Ed Kasica has been a miserable experience, and one we continue to pay for in correcting. He advised us we did not need a permit for interior renovation on a wall he would be removing and assured us it was not load-bearing. Our kitchen plan depended on it. When he took it down he found it was loadbearing. We've had several licensed contractors now tell us he should have known that on sight. The original architect came by at my request and he asked Ed if he pulled a permit, and upon finding out he did not, asked why. He reminded him he could lose his license over it. This was the first day. Within weeks I had a front foyer demolished in error, a floor contractor that almost walked off the job because of Ed's demeanor, and a hole through the pocket door, another "error." I could go on. The worst is that Ed hired an unlicensed electrician. We found this when we were told the electrical was not done to code and we researched him. In fact, licensing is very important to know. Ed is not a GC as he represented himself to be. He holds a carpenter's license. We finally fired him and continue to hire licensed contractors to fix the many issues we are left with.

Ed was very responsive, his quote was reasonable and we hired him to do our installation. He was very professional, personable and meticulous in his work. Our kitchen looks great and we couldn't be happier. I'd hire him again in a second.

The whole project went very well. The only issue was the tile was on back order and delayed the project. If I changed anything about the project I would have chosen a different tile to expedite the completion of the project. This was my fault and not the fault of the contractor..

Ed was very professional from the way he presented his estimate to the way he performed his work.. His estimate was in the exact middle of all the other contractors, but it was the way he described how he was going to do the job that landed the  project for him. He cleaned up any mess that he made immediately. He hauled away all debris, there was never any accumulation of debris. He was always on time. He watched the work being done by those who worked for him and made sure it met his standard. He stayed within the price he quoted. I could have had it done for less but my satisfaction was worth it.

We now have new tile flooring, vanities, faucets, commode, baseboards and lighting. Ed is a true professional, a pleasure to work with, arrives on time, cleans up, does excellent carpentry. In the master bath he raised the vanity height and refaced it as the cabinet was in good shape. This gave us the higher surface we needed and saved us money as well. Note the price above included some of the fixtures and materials.
We couldn't be happier with his work and will use him again.

In January 2014 Ed began doing work at my new house. The place needed a lot of work and Ed was tasked with new bamboo flooring, baseboards and crown molding for 4 bedrooms. During the renovations we wanted to close off a sitting room in our master bedroom and create a entrance way in the hallway to create a den. Ed had no problems and did the job effortlessly. During the last bedroom black mold was located behind the old baseboard. Ed opted to open the wall up to ensure that were was nothing growing inside the walls. Well upon opening the walls Ed discovered a small hole in the wood frame and stucco and where water has been creeping through. This water washed away a small beam and damaged other plywood. Ed quickly readjusted and tackled that job making everything mold free back to normal.

Based upon a friend's suggestion. I contacted Ed as a third option for our complete kitchen remodle. Without any question we knew right away who we were going to choose. Complete transparancy of the whole process: Design, possible issues, materials being used, timelines, and recomendations. Ed was able to start the project early, always provided updates, completed the job early as well. Complete professionalism, didn't cut corners at all. Highly recommend.

The job went very well over all. There was a hold up in the
installation of the floor but that was my fault because I
ordered custom floor tile.A 10 day to 2week job was held
up because of that issue.Lesson learned.

In 2011 we hired Ed Kasica for a kitchen and bedroom renovation in our condo which is a part-time residence for us (approx. $21,000 project). He was recommended to us by our building manager. Having worked in the building previously, Ed was familiar with the building's rules and was understanding and respectful of them.  We were extremely pleased with his work so we hired him again last year when we wanted to do some renovations in our bathrooms.  In addition to being talented in his technical skills he is a good problem solver.  He is practical and creative in his suggestions and very pleasant to work with.  We have had one minor lingering problem with a light switch in our kitchen which was completed in 2011 and Ed has been very responsive in following up with it even though it is a small item.  Ed did his work in the summers while we were away so, obviously, we trusted him.  At the end of the projects he left the apartment as neat and clean as could  be expected.  He managed to keep sheet rock dust confined to the work area and not all over the apartment.  My engineering-trained husband was very happy with Ed's work.  We have recommended him to close friends who are considering doing a kitchen renovation and we would certainly use him again for another project if we have one.
