They were highly responsive and came in on time and on budget. In short, they explained exactly what they'd do - and did exactly what they said. Very professional throughout; I especially appreciated the consultative approach and willingness to be flexible on requests like including an outdoor shower and plant hangers within the enclosure.

While they also replaced the foam insulation, the price seems a bit high. I trust them to do an outstanding job though so the extra $$ is worth it to me. I still have a few drips when it rains a lot.

It went great. Because of the weather things took a little longer than I expected but the finished product is well worth it. The workers were friendly and hard working and they took care to do everything just right. The sunroom is all that I wanted and more. An egress window in the bedroom was necessary by code and it looks great. I would most definitely recommend this company.

Excellent.  Salesman (Joe) was professional, courteous and informative.  Quote was provided within a few days as promised.  Once we contracted, they handled all permits, approvals (HOA, county, etc.).  Construction began in timeframe quoted.  Workers were professional and neat!  They did a fantastic job.  Quality construction materials and work.  I expect it will stand the test of time.
After completion we had a minor problem with our HOA on closeness of a concrete step to our property line and they would not provide final approvals.  Schnor came back and demolished the "offending" step and rebuilt a smaller one that passed our very tight code. -- No CHARGE!   I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality construction at a fair price -- and one who makes sure you are satisfied!  I would definitely use them again.

This is the second time we've chosen Schnorr Home Improvement for our home projects. Last year they modified my screen enclosure, adding a covered area and expanding my screened area. This year it was three very different projects in my garage and office area. This was once again a very positive experience. Doug Schnorr is a true professional and is easy to work with. His team also were very good to work with and did a fine job on the three projects. Each required some unique work, such as installing supports over the new larger garage opening and the new door. I had great confidence that they would do the right thing and we are very pleased with the finished project.
They actually did some little extras on the work, such as grinding down the concrete where the old post was located to make a smoother finish for the new door.
I will definitely choose this company again for my home projects. It was an overall great experience.

My experience with them went very well.  They were very professional and fast.  The work was done very well.  They were very cognizant of being in someone's home and being outside and keeping everything clean.  My mother has a hard time walking around and so they kept the areas very clear.  They were very efficient in what they did.

This transaction could not have gone better. Doug Schnorr, the owner, is very responsive and very communicative. You can always get in touch with him, either through email or the phone.
The estimate was done very professionally. Schnorr takes care of everything you want them to do.
This company has a long-term reputation for quality work and is well-known in Jacksonville and the surrounding areas. They are family-owned. They actually have an office and display area/show room. They do not operate our of pick-up truck.
A very nice aspect of this company was the quality of the people who work for them. These are the type of people you are comfortable with, in terms of their appearance and professionalism. People of this quality simply get paid more than temps or day laborers. But, the quality of work shows.
We have hired Schnorr to do more work on our house. Do yourself a favor and get a quote from Schnorr before you sign a contact with anyone else.

Excellent service.

Materials brand new, sales rep and owner very pleasant to work with and professional.  The floor slab of my patio is very visibly sloped from the home's original construction.  This company framed and finished the screen room doorways to the point where the average person would never recognize this extensively sloped slab existed.  Due to the shape of my patio, this company had to work in a very tight environment at one end.  Results were excellent.  Aesthetic finishes are very good.  Applications of sealants applied to to the exterior are excellent in terms of size and aesthetics, meaning the workers took their time to do the job right.
The owner and sales rep are extremely responsive to calls and emails and will take the time to answer numerous questions.
After the work was complete, the project site was left extremely clean with all debris removed.  No damage to grass or home itself.  One of the screens had a tear of about 1 inch in width and this contractor immediately removed the entire screen area itself and replaced it at no charge.

After reviewing multiple bids and reviewing Schnorr Home Improvements on Angies List we chose Schnorr Home Improvements to remodel our bathroom. The job began with the selection of new granite, cabinet, tile, paint and fixtures with input from Mr Schnorr. They started with demolition of bathroom and in that process the work crew completely cleaned up after demolition day without a trace of the work they performed. The crew worked fast and had the new bathroom installed faster than we anticipated. We Also had the exterior painted. The job proceeded and the crew went so far as to adjust some of our older doors and fixtures although our bid proposal never mentioned them. When the job was complete and we looked for items to put on a punch list we could not find any such items.
We recently sold this house and the very first family that looked at it made an offer we could not refuse. We know the exceptional job by Schnorr Home Improvement on the bathroom remodel and exterior paint job made our home more valuable.
We can highly recommend Schnorr Home Improvements and will soon have them remodel our bathroom and add a screen enclosure at our current home.

From start to finish this was a very good experience. Doug Schnoor stayed in close touch with me (not easy since I was in St. Louis at the time and the project was in Florida. This involved the mail many phone calls and the use of text pictures. The workmanship was excellent and the porch is just what we wanted. I would use this company again. They were not the lowest bid but the quality of their work demonstrated that lowest does not always mean the best. Highly recommended

The project was slow to start up due to the early spring rains we had this year, but Schnorr crew worked around the rains as they could and kept me apprised of schedule changes due to the weather. Thru the project, I found that all workmen were prompt and courteous, and always left my property in order each day. Crew also took time to ensue that I knew what was coming and how the project would proceed. I would hire Schnorr again in a flash!

This was an overall great experience from our first contact through project completion. This project had several options and the written estimate was very detailed and explained the work that was proposed, including offering multiple options allowing me to choose the best options for us. He also engineered the roof so that we wouldn't need a post that would have interfered with our deck space.
Doug Schnorr and his team were great to work with and very professional. The work turned out great and we are very pleased with our new outside living area.
I would definitely choose Schnorr Home Improvement for any future work.

I called Schnoor and ended up talking with Doug. He came out on a day off (rare for him to have a day off and he spent part of it with me) and did a preliminary measurement and took down the information we gave him for what we wanted. He covered every aspect of his company regarding insurance, bonds, tools, equipment, materials, screen type, warranties, etc. etc. etc. He actually provided me with an education rather than an estimate. We got his estimate (detailed - complete - lengthy) written, by email, within a day or two of his visit. We had several other companies come over and provide estimates. At the end of the process, we simply felt better with Schnoor's professionalism, dedication to detail, informative nature, easy-going nature and all the while, you never forgot that he was the consummate professional. Every time we spoke by phone, we received an email to record / agree on what we had talked about. This even included questions we had about materials, etc. We NEVER had to guess 'what did he say about ....???"We selected Schnoor to do the work and Doug came out and performed all of the measurements himself. We went over the fine details of the final product. I wrote him a check for the down-payment for the job. He said it would be 3-5 weeks because the sliding door panels had to be custom made and that would take about 2-weeks. He said that based on the relative ease of this job that we could expect a call in 3-5 weeks for completion the day before the work would start because he would work us into the larger project construction schedules. If there was an opening due to a delay on some other job, they could install it for us that day.We got a call one night from Phil Schnoor saying "We'll be there tomorrow".... I left the gates unlocked and when we came home that night - there it was! The ONLY issue we had was one of the panels looked 'crooked' but Doug came out and showed me it was the patio cover that was crooked. We talked it over and they came out two days after we decided what to do - they moved the panel at the top to make it look straight at the bottom. They minimized a fault of the patio cover contractor! :) How good can you get it? The entire time I dealt with Schnoor, I felt like I was being treated professionally, fairly, and they took their time to explain ANY question I had. I even got into a discussion with Doug about the difference in the diaelectric constants that regulate the amount of galvanic corrosion you can expect with the different materials available for construction. Once again - Doug taught me that what he was doing was what was best for our project. If I EVER need anything done that can be done by Schnoor, they'll be the first people I call. Now here's the BEST part - Schnoor was more professional than any company, used the same materials as any company, did exactly what I wanted (not so with a couple of the other companies we discussed this with) and THEN they came in $100 above the lowest bidder and $1350 dollars (yes, $1,350.00 dollars) LESS than the two highest companies. Schnoor is the best outfit out there and I got the second to the lowest price. The 'low bidder' couldn't even tell me what his workmanship / material warranties were ...... huh??

I'm new to Florida so I called Schnorr Home Improvements because of their excellent reputation.  The home I bought had an existing screen room poorly installed. The roof leaked and the gutter wasn't installed properly. I got an estimate from Schnorr for $2,721 and they started the work within two weeks of giving me the estimate.  They were professional and did a great job! I would highly recommend them to my family and friends.

ARC approval was given  on 3/8/11.  Concrete removal and pour went very well.  Porch was framed on 3/24/11, electrical work on 3/28/11, tile laid on 3/29/11.  Work completed and inspected on 4/11/11.  The tile layer never washed the grout properly and the floor had grout all over.  The overhead fan and light did not work.  Bolts were coming out of the aluminum base.  Electrican came back on 5/13 and found the electrical box was not secure (that he installed) and was not getting power.  He fixed his error.  Phillip came out and washed the flooring with a chemical on 4/12/11.  Once I cleaned the floor after a few weeks with vineger and water (recommended by the tile layer) the grout marks came back.  On 5/9/11 Phillip said he will come back out and re treat the floor.  He never did.  Someone did come out and rebolt the aluminum.  Although Angie's lists states that Schnoor accepts credit cards, they did not.  Only check or cash.  Response time for problems was very poor or non-existant.

Upon reading my previous rating on Angie's List, Phillip contacted me and made the adjustments/corrections.  In fact, he spent over 10 hours correcting the floor.  He was very apologetic about the non-response and attributed it to a communication mix-up.  He was sincere and professional.

Joe (the sales guy)  was exceptionally polite, very knowledgeable, and very well prepared with multiple types of screen samples, etc.  He provided a VERY comprehensive quote that included things that other quoters conveniently did not mention (like county code requiring the addition of another electrical box outside the enclosure, termite spraying near the house, etc.). The only shortcoming on the quote was the "drawings" that Doug Schnorr supposedly does himself for each quote...they were actually far less adequate than I was expecting.  I was told that I would get drawings that depicted the roof style based on his recommendation (gable, hip, mansard, etc.), but all I received was the slab layout. The only reason I did not go with Schnorr is that their price was double that of the other quotes I received.  I was told by some that the Schnorr company prefers to do glass rooms, and may be turning away lower end jobs by pricing themselves out of the market if they aren't really interested.  The high quote I received may indicate that is true. But if you are looking for a higher end/higher budget  job, I would definitely contact them for a quote.

UPDATE:  Please note that the info provided by Mr. Schnorr below is not 100% accurate.  I did not chose the vendor I used solely based on price, and Mr. Schnorr  has no way to know my criteria as he has not called me to discuss (but for the record I looked at both price and reputation).  My comment that his quote included more items was actually a complement, but perhaps he didn't understand the meaning of the word "comprehensive."

The Schnorr quote was actually $7,392 (updated from $8k), and I should have pulled the paperwork and not gone by my memory.  The 3rd quote I received was very similar to the vendor I went with, and was also much lower than the Schnorr quote.  Of the 3, the Schnorr quote was the only one to include the required GFI switch outside the room and termite spraying, which I really appreciated (no one else even mentioned them).   The GFI ended up being $150 and the termite spraying was $50, so after adding that to the $4,146 I was charged for my screen room, there was still a 70% price increase from Schnorr.  (Mr. Schnorr is correct...that is not double when I do the exact math, but still too high of a difference for me).

Unless you are dealing with an unlimited budget, everyone should get 3 bids for every significant project....you will learn a lot in the process, and then determine which vendor is the best for your particular situtation.
Response from SCHNORR HOME IMPROVEMENTS

"I am appreciative that this homeowner has stated how professional we are. However this homeowner chose to use another contractor based on price only. There is some misinformation in her report that I am responding to. First she has stated that our price was $8000 and double that of a competitor. Our price was actually $7,300.00 and based on the permit pulled for this project it was not double but was considerably more. She has also mentioned that our quote included items that the other did not. Naturally if we include extra items it will be more. I talked to the contractor who she hired to do the work at a trade meeting and without mentioning any names he knew which job I was referring to and said that his sales person messed up on the price and sold it for way under what it needed to be. He did not catch the mistake until after job was complete. She stated that she was told by, assumably the competitor who had messed up, that we only like to do glass rooms and were pricing ourselves to high if we were not interested. This is absolutely ridiculous. We love all jobs including small repairs which we advertise for everyweek in the local paper. The price we quoted for this job was very fair for what we included. We currently have contracts to build seven very similar sized and priced projects just like this one. Unfortunately I can not compete against a competitor who has underpriced his job by mistake. Lastly in talking to my sales representative, there must have been miscommunication concerning the drawings for quote. My salesman informed the homeowner that I (the owner) personally measure and make detailed drawings for every job using a laser transit. The misunderstanding is that is for jobs sold. I am personally involved with every project after it is sold, from measuring, shop drawings for construction, material ordering and instructions to our employees as how it is to be built. I could have and would have made a detailed drawing for the quote, had I been asked, but my salesman did not know that she was expecting that. In fact the drawing she recieved was that only of a plan view to show overall diminsions, which was prepared by my salesman not myself. In summary, there is a reason I have been in business since 1979, with an A+ rating with the better business bureau, and an A rating with Angies list. We are second to no one for quality of work, materials and service, and our prices are fair and competitive. Our enclosure installers are employees not sub contractors. Our quotes are free and professional. Thank you, Doug Schnorr"

We met with Joe who promptly gave us an estimate. Once we determined that we were going to contract with Schnorr they quickly provided us with sketches to submit to our HOA for approval. Within a couple of weeks of our returning the approved documents to Schnorr, they had secured the building permit and were on-site installing our enclosure. We are delighted with the quality and appearance of the enclosure and would highly recommend Schnorr Home Improvement.

Phil Schnorr Sr. came out and talked with us about our needs, showed us options on design and took rough measurements. He got back to us the next day with a price, which was less than the other contractor we interviewed. Doug Schnorr, the owner came out and took precise measurements and answered additional questions. He also agreed with me that we would not need a separate heater/AC for this space since we had connecting doors and windows we would leave open. The crew removed the old screen wall while the new wall and windows were being manufactured. They were responsive to our requests and did a very good job. They had been recommended to us and their history in our area gave us confidence that they stood behind their work. We had two very minor problems, both of which were fixed immediately.
