"Thank you for allowing me to respond to [member name removed] complaint. On April 7th, we were called out to the [member name removed] residence to repair a cooling issue. We found the thermostat blank and the transformer was bad. The original transformer was located inappropriately in a moist area. We replaced the transformer and relocated it to a more fitting location. The unit was tested and working at the time of our departure. A little over a month later, May 24th, we returned for another no cool issue. The technician found the unit four pounds low on refrigerant. A leak check was performed. My technician noted three leaks in the evaporator coil and a leak on the hot gas rotolock of the compressor. Pet the homeowner’s request, we added the four pound of refrigerant, but did not make the repairs. The unit was cooling when we left. [member name removed] has a 1999 unit. Unfortunately at this age, a unit will begin to have issues. I am surprise she hasn’t had more trouble. Both visits presented a different problem and on both visits the unit was cooling when we left. As for the last visit, the leaks were not repaired and the refrigerant will leak out again causing another costly repair. My technician did recommend replacement. That is our job. We are supposed to make recommendations that will help our customer make sound decisions. It is not a scam and it wasn’t a recommendation after several years of servicing this unit. Our last visit (other than the ones mentioned in the dispute) was May 24, 2012. We did service her unit a few times before that, but not on a regular basis. As for the requested refund, we stand by our technicians findings. Each visit ended with the unit cooling. The time between calls was over a month. A date was not listed for the second companies visit, but I would have to assume it was sometime mid June since this dispute was filed at the end of the month. That would make his visit several weeks before ours. We have a 30 day warranty on our work and are always happy to double check an issue. I know it is disappointing to start seeing a more consistent need for repairs. It is not uncommon to see this in 15 year old units. With this in mind, it would be unreasonable to say we are ripping off customers by having to make two visits within two months and charging for those visits."
