I believe since we bought our condo without a relator involved that when we approached the later stage of the month we were to close our loan shuffled to the back of the line. I would not recommend Everbank / Everhome Mortgage to anyone who is in hurry to close on a new mortgage. My credit score is 800+ and I have bought other homes in the past without such a prolonged delay.
Description of Work: I worked with a home loan representative (Eric Bennett) in Palm Springs CA to obtain a conventional loan with a sizable down payment. What should have taken about a month took much longer. And as we were about to close they would not accept escrow instructions as the purchase agreement. This delayed our closing another 5 days.

This company is horrible. I was previously with Regions Mortgage before they sold out to Everhome. I wanted to refinance when interest rates when lower. They said they wouldn't be able to help. My income dropped and I asked for a loan modification and they kept losing my paperwork! The customer service representative hung up with me on the telephone. I feel this company only wants to give you the "run-around."
Description of Work: My home is mortgaged thru this company.

We went through the refinance process and got approved without any trouble because we have excellent credit, but we had some problems with the title search because of a past loan not having been recorded as paid off. That wasn't EverHome's fault, but it built everything to a head. First, our mortgage loan officer never explained the mortgage choices we had or what exactly we were getting or paying for. Right from the beginning we were feeling like things weren't on the up and up. Then we ran into the lien problem and found there was no communication between the people at the company. We would talk to one and expect the other to know what supporting documents had been submitted, but then we'd find no one communicated. At one point we were told we were ready to close the loan and then we didn't hear anything for over a week. We waited to be given a day and time to close. Instead, we were told on a Friday that our rate lock would expire on Monday since the lien issue had not, in fact, been remedied and we needed an extension, but again our loan officer did not explain what that meant. She then told us it was a guaranteed thing and we'd get more time. On Monday we were then told we got a three day extension but we had to pay a fee for an additional few days because they couldn't close any earlier. By then we had had enough. We would have had to pay over $350 for the extension and it still wouldn't be long enough because you have to factor in the three day rescind period. It turns out we would have had to close even before we were told we needed an extension to meet that 3 day requirement. The loan officer by then told us she had paid for the first extension (news to us) and could not afford to pay for anymore. She was also taking quite a tone with us in frustration. We spoke with a manager who didn't even know about the three day period and wouldn't help us in any way. He also had a bit of an attitude with us. Through him we found out a lot of information that had been withheld from us. I called other mortgage companies and found one that matched the rate we had with EverHome so we told EverHome we were not refinancing with them. We did not feel comfortable doing business with them and we would rather lose our $350 application fee than be stuck with them as our mortgage company. We did our refinance elsewhere, but had to pay our escrow again because the tax payment from EverHome to our county was not found by the county even after five weeks. Now two mortgage companies have our property tax payment for 2008! One nice manager did call me back with some information on the payment to the county, but the county still could not find the check. When I called back and went through customer service the woman was rude and refused to help me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she told me they don't have supervisors. She confirmed our first impression that EverHome is not a mortgage company we want to do business with.
Description of Work: Our existing mortgage company had transferred service to EverHome Mortgage and we wanted to refinance our ARM into a fixed rate mortgage. At the time we thought EverHome had actually purchased our mortgage so we contacted them to refinance our loan.
