"We have never completed any work for [member name removed] as out customer was the previous owner of the property. In March of 2011 we were contracted by the owner of the property to replace the roof. In April the re-roof project was completed and inspected 3 times, twice by the county inspector and once by an independent inspector for the Homeowner's Insurance Discount. The roof passed all inspections confirming compliance with the current building code. When the [member name removed]purchased the home later that month, at the request of our customer both the Material and Workmanship Warranties associated with the re-roof were mailed to the new owners on April 27th, 2011. In addition, our information was given to their Real Estate Agent, Carol Zingone. The 1st time we were contacted by the Smiths was October of 2014, when [member name removed] called to report a leak. One of our Service Technicians inspected the leak, diagnosed the problem and determined the scope of work that needed to be done. However, he noticed that someone had literally slathered black tar over shingles and up a wall previously in an apparent attempt to make repairs. [member name removed] admitted on 10/31/2014 to "having 4 or 5 different roofers come out and get up on the roof. In addition, one of the roofing companies globbed stuff while it was actively raining around the area that was leaking." This was confirmed by a filed permit with the county by another contractor. It was explained to [member name removed] that she had nullified her warranty by neglecting to report the leak directly to us and by having other contractors work on her roof, which we have clearly stated in our warranty. [member name removed] then claimed to have never received the warranty document and that she had no idea which company had replaced the roof in 2011. Though we are sadden by her inability to find us, this is a matter of public record. Yet she contacted us for a repair and requesting we activate her "warranty." In her review, [member name removed] even lists the Cost of the Re-roof as the initial quote listed on the County Website and on the Warranty papers mailed to her. As a company, we are faithful to stand by our warranties. However, we cannot guarantee work done by other contractors, which is what [member name removed] has asked us to do. Due to the fact that the work completed in 2011 was done correctly as to code, as well as the fact that [member name removed] elected to have other contractors alter the work done by our company, as well as the amount of time before she contacted us, we are unable to repair damage exasperated by others for free. In an effort to assist the [member name removed] in this dilemma, we have offered a reasonably priced repair to fix the area of the roof that is leaking, and reactivate her warranty. As of the current date, the homeowner has declined."
"We understand that we can not serve everyone especially during rainy seasons when we are several weeks out from being able to schedule repairs. When any potential customer is considerate to let us know they are going with another company, we do ask what was the deciding factor in order to gain feedback to continue to improve on our service and the customer experience. Since [Member name removed] is a previous customer of ours, his reason for going with another company was doubly important to us. Whether it was due to the length of time before we could perform the repairs, or the cost of the estimated repairs, whatever the reason we try to gather the information and review for any improvements we can implement. We just ask for the reason and it is okay If the customer does not want to provide the information ."
