Affordable Water has been treating water in Jacksonville and the surrounding area since 1989. We have 8 full time plumbers that service and install water treatments systems installed by Affordable Water as well as servicing other companies systems. We have 7 ladies in the office to answer your phone calls. 3 full time drivers to deliver your salt. First of all....I didn't purchase the service through Angie's list...but I just saw on their website that they do offer their service through Angie's List.
I purchased a water softening system in 2009 from Affordable Water after I moved here and discovered all my glassware was cloudy after coming out of the dishwasher. Residue was building up in the dishwasher and in the washing machine. I did some research and found that the hard water in our area of Florida can cause long term damage to many appliances. So...my parents (who had moved here the previous year) recommended Affordable Water because they had purchased a system from them.
My problems were resolved! No more reside on dishes, skin and hair much better in the shower, etc., until Jan 2016 when I started noticing the previous issues with hard water. I called Affordable Water, and they said it may be a bad "resin bed," and advised that those need to be replaced about every 8 years, and the replacement cost is around $250. They came out, replaced the bed, and a small motor. I was completely satisfied because this was the first time I ever needed maintenance on the 7-1/2 year-old system.
A few days later, I sensed that the system wasn't working properly, so I called and asked if they could send some out to test it. The next day, the owner, Mark, personally came out and tested the water that came through the softener, and compared it to other water that had not been softened. He spent over an hour going through several areas of my house to ensure it was working. Bottom line....it was working properly.
About 30 minutes after he left, Mark called me to say that he had called back to the office with some questions about my system, and had discovered that they had originally installed the wrong system in 2009, and that I had actually paid for an upgraded system. Then he told me that, because they had installed the wrong system 7 years earlier, and since I had just paid over $300 for maintenance, he would install a new, upgraded system at no charge to me!
I just called them a few minutes ago to schedule the installation of the new system, and Terri set up the appointment for the day I requested - 3 days from now.
They have definitely earned my future business, and I told my parents about their great service so they can pass it on to their neighbors. I wish more business owners were this honest and concerned with taking care of customers.

My father is in his 80s and needs help to manage his home. His water softener was at least 20 yrs old, if not older, and no longer working. After doing my research on Angie's List, I decided to call Affordable Water because of their reputation for quality service and products at a reasonable cost. Plus, they carried the highly rated Fleck brand of water softening system I was looking for.
I was not disappointed. After calling that morning, I met with Mark, the owner's son (it's a family owned and run business) that afternoon. He came out to the house, looked at the old unit, answered all my questions and made his recommendation for what he thought would meet our needs best. The price was very reasonable. Two days later, Affordable Water came back as scheduled and installed both the water softener and water purification unit in one afternoon...no delays, no problems, no hidden extra charges.
The week after that, I received a phone call from Affordable Water to schedule for salt delivery, so my father would get salt delivered as needed. Now that he was added to Affordable's Water's salt route, the company will handle checking and adding salt to the system only as needed. This service is also very inexpensive... they check the salt level for you and you only get charged if salt is actually needed at that time. Best of all, my elderly father doesn't have to lift and pour heavy bags of salt himself.
FYI, we are also pleased with the Nimbus water purification system that was installed under the sink. It has it's own separate faucet and provides noticeably better tasting water that is free of contaminants. Very happy with this purchase as well.
Overall, my experience with Affordable Water has been excellent and I highly recommend them.

I'm sorry my response time to the appointment was delayed after meeting with you on 7/22/15. I was under the impression your plumber was going to be calling me on Monday 7/27/15 when you said he was scheduled to be at your home. When I didn't hear from him, I went ahead and quoted the job on 7/28/15 noting the support plate (floor) for water softening system would be provided by others, which is what I was going to discuss with plumber. The price for the system was higher than normal due to the need for 2 installers and a ladder system to install, which takes a lot more time. I apologize for any misunderstanding. We're looking to install a full water filtration system for the entire house but due to some design issues of our current house, it will be a bit more difficult to install and definately cost more had we already had a water loop preinstalled with the house. Adam came up with a solution and when we do decide to do this we will definitely go with this company and these wonderful people again.
