On Thursday, February 8, 2018, my Overhead garage door spring broke. I tried call the company numbers that I found on the ID sticker label on the garage door. I was unable to reach any of the companies. I went to the web site of Angle’s List and Home Advisor for ratings of other garage door repair companies. I found on both listing they gave high ratings to Precision Overhead Garage Door Service is Overhead Garage Door service contractor. I called Precision to schedule appointment for repair of my broken garage spring. The repair service was schedule with Precision for Saturday, February 10, 2018, with a window of time. The day the service the Service Tech was (2) two hours passed the scheduled service window of time. Once the Service Tech (Christ Green) arrive he explained he is several hours behind and he is here now. I explained to the service tech that my garage door has a broken door spring and I do not have any other issues with my garage door. The Service Tech stated before he could work on the door he had to perform an inspection of the garage door. Once again, I pointed out to the Service Tech the only thing wrong with my garage is the broken spring. Also, I explain that I have a schedule maintenance of inspect the garage door every three months. (checking for loose bolts/nuts, lubrication if needed etc.) The service Tech stated he would not be able to work on the garage door without the inspection. At that point I had no choice but give authorization to the service tech to perform his inspection, I needed my garage door spring replaced and for the garage door to work. About half-hour later the Service Tech reported that I need to replace the door cables, rollers, bearings and more. I have reviewed his report, I stated the garage door is working in good condition. I have got fourteen years of service on the current hardware without any problems and if replaced the hardware with new hardware I would get another fourteen years of service out of my garage door. So, at that point I gave the authorization for the Service Tech to do an overhaul service of the garage door. I would much be proactive than reactive. Several hours later the Service Tech stated the service has been completed and I should not use the garage door for least hour (oil on hardware). An hour later, I open the garage door to find the garage door making loud noises, cutting the top left side frame weather seal and the left bottom two panels out of line pulling the hanger out of the frame. I immediate call the Service Tech (Christ Green cell #). The Service Tech stated it’s late and he is on another service call with his location over some 45 minutes from my location. He (Mr. Green) would call the office for another Tech to schedule a service call for tomorrow. The next day (2-11-18) I had another Service Tech to show up at my house. This Service Tech (Casey Crane) is the trainer of the Service Tech (Christ Green) has stopped to review my concerns that the garage door is not operating properly. After the Service Tech reviewed my concerns and making some adjustments. The garage door still operating with the same problems. Service Tech (Casey Crane) stated with the garage door being 14 years old and making the update repairs would cause the garage door to act different. Also, I need to replace my door hinges. I stated to the Service Tech, I did not have this problem until your Service Tech (Christ Green) worked on the garage door making the update repairs. The Service Tech stated again the problem came from the update of the hardware on an old garage door. I asked the Service Tech if the door is requiring new hingers is that not in the updated equipment service just provided. The Service Tech stated No they do not carry Overhead Garage Door parts. I stated to the Service Tech, I do not understand on your Company logo it shows Precision Overhead Garage Door Service, and so I understand that you can not replace or repair my hingers that need to be replaced. The Service Tech stated that is correct. The hingers they carry do not work for Overhead Garage Doors. I than asked the Service Tech as to the torn weather seal. The Service Tech stated that would be additional cost to replace the damaged door weather seal. At that point the Service Tech left the garage door in the same condition. I was afraid for my wife and myself to use the garage door. I took the garage door out of service for safety concerns. On Tuesday, February 11, 2018, I called Guaranteed Garage repair to schedule appointment to review and give any recommendation on my garage door issues. The Service Tech with Guaranteed Garage Repair was scheduled for Friday, February 12, 2018. I met with the Guaranteed Garage Repair Service Tech (James Carbon) on Friday, February 12, 2018, after his review. The Service Tech (James Carbon) has found the only thing wrong with the garage door would be a few adjustments and stated the garage door is excellent condition. I gave authorization for the Service Tech (James Carbon) with Guaranteed Garage Repair company to make the proper adjustment to the garage door. After the Service Tec (James) made the proper adjustments providing the garage door to operate quiet and normal during the opening and closing procedure. This was at an additional cost $150.00 that I should not had to occur if garage door not been damaged by Precision or had been repaired correctly by Precision. Currently, with the work performed by Guaranteed Garage Repair Company Service Tech (James Carbon) the garage door is working properly and quiet. I have tried calling Precision Overhead Garage Door Company with no return calls. I would not recommend, or I will never use Precision Overhead Garage Door.
