No, I would not contact, or recommend this company to anyone in my neighborhood, or any neighborhood. I'm assuming my job was a small one, and this company did not want to spend time with such a small job? For most part, if this is so I should have been given this information so that I could move on to another company. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS!
They handled everything. Permits were pulled promptly and they started right on time. Everything was finished up and cleaned up in just a few days.
All communication was prompt, professional, and pleasant. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I definitely recommend this company!
COMMUNICATION: Right from the start, Johnston Roofing demonstrated excellent communication practices. I was kept informed throughout the process and responses to my calls and emails were always timely. I was kept informed of when the salesperson would visit, when permits were obtained, when the work would begin, when the roof inspection was done, and when the work was fully completed. Communication among company representatives was also excellent. Whenever salespeople are involved, I'm always concerned that their promises aren't always communicated to those individuals that need to fulfill those promises. In this case, every detail of the work that was agreed-to with the salesperson (Mike) was accurately communicated to the staff that performed the work.
PERSONNEL: All calls to Johnston roofing were always handled professionally and courteously. My primary interaction was with Mike (salesperson) - especially during the earlier stages. Mike did an excellent job at explaining every detail of the process. He was knowledgeable, professional, and pleasant. Mike helped in other ways too - he pointed-out a coupon that offered significant savings, helped us find nearby houses with the roof colors we were considering, quickly made updates to the contract when necessary, and was patient in addressing the multitude of questions that my wife and I had. He was very responsive all throughout the process and was a significant factor in our selection of Johnston Roofing.
VALUE: Johnston Roofing provided the lowest bid, which made our decision an easy one. However, Johnston also provided the best value, which is even more important to me than lowest cost. Had all bids been equal, I would have still selected Johnston Roofing. When you compare what Johnston Roofing offered in contrast to the competing bids, Johnston was the clear winner. Let's start with the ridge vent. Johnston was the only bidding company that offered - or even mentioned - a ridge vent (spans the entire roof line and replaces those ugly turbines and J-vents). Secondly, Johnston included 200 sq. ft. of wood in their base price, compared to 100 sq. ft. on all other bids. And third, Johnston included the installation of three new vents near each bathroom [for the bathroom exhaust fans]. And most importantly, the quality of the finished product was excellent. All this, and they were still the lowest bid.
