"Thank you for trusting Amplus AC for your new AC installation in Fort Laudedale, FL."
"Thank you so much for the opportunity to work for you, It was a pleasure, I'm glad you are completely satisfied with the Air conditioning installation."
At the time of install scheduled to begin 8-10am, they were a little late but a call was received at 10am that they were on their way. When arrived, the efficiently removed the old equipment and installed the new equipment in about 4.5 hours. They covered the floor and cleaned up after the install and removed all remnants of the old unit.
Besides the crew who did the install, the owner of AMPLUS, Mike, was on-site on and off for the install to make sure everything was completed to my satisfaction.
Mike Perez and his assistant were exactly on time, introduced themselves, had me show them the unit (condenser and air handler) locations, and went right to work. I was in their back pockets the whole time, asking layman questions and lame questions, all of which they took the time to answer and explain. I observed everything they did, and it was obvious that they knew exactly what they were doing, no wasted motion. At each step, Mike told me what they were doing, and why.
For many years, I was the manager of an engineering and maintenance section of a large aerospace company. The section's function was to design, build, and maintain assembly and test equipment. I feel that with this background, I am fairly adapt at observing maintenance and assessing the abilities of those doing the work.
I couldn't have had a better experience, and highly recommend Mike and company to anyone who needs HVAC work done. When the times comes, he's the guy I'm going to call. In the hour since he left, there is a real noticeable difference in the function of the HVAC system. Thanks Mike, you're aces.
"We are a reputable company servicing South Florida since 2006, with approximately 25 years of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration knowledge, as well as a Class A Mechanical Contractor License. My apologies to The [Member name removed] Family for any miscommunication between client and myself “The owner”. Nonetheless, we believe that as always we follow a protocol needed to do a schedule for all of our service calls, which are: 1) Confirming with [Member name removed] the Night before from his call that [Member name removed] would be home, 2) in the AM/morning time. As this is a gated community; you might want to address your gate house if NO communication was given to [Member name removed] prior to us showing up at your door step. In conclusion, our intentions as always is to provide exceptional service to all of our clients; which we believe it was accomplished by providing service on the unit needed and even a FREE check-up service to a second unit not originally scheduled to be serviced. Yours truly, Mike Perez"
At around 2:20 on Thursday, May 14, he called and asked if I'd be ready for him in a half hour, and I said that I would. He arrived by 2:50, looked at the air handler, agreed that it needed to be replaced, and gave me the quote of $1,700, which was on the high side of the estimate he had quoted the day before, but still within expectations. He assured me that he would provide an excellent brand and a high quality model and answered my questions about what all would be involved when I had scraped together enough money to eventually replace the outdoor condenser unit as well. He told me that his guys could install the new air handler the next morning (Friday, May 15) and would arrive between 9:00 and 9:30. He asked for fifty percent of the cost of replacement up front. Having never had major AC work done before, I hadn't expected that and didn't have a check to write, so he was able to use my credit card. He asked for permission to take the full amount at once since he has to pay a fee for every transaction, and I agreed that it was fine. A receipt was emailed right away by the program he uses to process credit card payments.
After talking with my husband that night, we had more questions, so I texted Mike the next morning at 8:40. He called me back immediately and answered all my questions. He arrived at my home with two installation technicians (I forgot to ask their names) by 9:30 on Friday, May 15, as promised. Mike showed them where everything was, emailed me an invoice for the service, and left. The two installers (or one installer and one helper) worked until nearly 1:00, and I watched all the stuff they were doing that interested me. Both of them were patient with me and answered any questions I had. They were thorough with their work and did a good job of cleaning up the AC closet before they left.
The new air handler seems to be working well. It is extremely quiet in comparison to the old one, so that's has been very nice. It's also a great relief to be rid of the old handler which was plagued with drainage problems and leaks and full of mold and rust.
What I liked about Mike:
*He was great about returning phone calls and answering questions.
*He was able to work me into his schedule quickly so that we wouldn't have to endure another weekend without air conditioning.
*He showed up on time both days.
* He worked within my budget.
Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to replace both the indoor and outdoor units at the same time, but I had been cautioned that almost no one would just replace the air handler without also replacing the condenser. Mike was willing to do it. It's much more expensive to replace the two units separately, but it's easier for me to deal with $1,700 now and $1,800 later than $3,000 all at once. He did say that he provides financing for homeowners, but we are renters, so that wasn't available to us. Other than the higher cost, one more disadvantage of replacing the indoor and outdoor units separately is that the manufacturer's warranty on the parts is only good for five years instead of the ten-year warranty that applies if they are replaced at the same time. I didn't find this out until the morning of the installation, but knowing it sooner probably wouldn't have made me change my mind about installing the units separately anyway. Mike, of course, is not the one responsible for setting the manufacturer's warranty on parts. As I understand it, his warranty on labor for all new installations is one year, and he wrote that on my invoice.
Overall, dealing with Mike was a pleasant experience. I greatly appreciated his punctuality and his patience, and I'm glad that he didn't give me any sales pitches or try to talk me into something that I couldn't afford. When I end up having to replace our outdoor condenser unit, I will gladly call him back to do that job as well.
Thanks,
Kate
