Rent A Center - Holly Hill

First of all, their prices are ridiculous. The only laptop I could afford to rent was what I call a laptop wannabe. It was a tiny little Acer which had no number pad on the side, no cd rom, and was very slow. The power cord was extremely loose so it was constantly disconnecting. As I was filling out the paper work the girl persuaded me to put down a reference that was not family but not having my cell on me the only number I knew by heart was my boss and that I did not want him called. She said they will not call unless they cannot get a hold of me. So I put down his name and number. My mother in law loaned me the money to buy a real laptop a month later so I wouldn't waste any more money and I returned the piece of crap on Friday 10/18/13, advising the manager of the issues. She said no problem and gave me a paper with my info and wrote "returned" and signed it. All weekend long I received calls from this Rent a Center to collect a payment and I told them twice I had returned it on Friday and was told it will be taken care of. Tuesday 10/22/13, I received another call to collect payment and I called to speak to a manager. The person who answered named Brian claimed to be an assistant manager and after I told him what was going on and that I want the calls to stop he said they will take care of it. I have no idea if they contacted any of my references but you better believe if they contacted my boss to try and find me I will be compensated in some way. Especially because I keep calling them back and doing the same run around with them. I will NEVER do business with them again. While they are polite they are very unprofessional and disorganized. I still do not know if the matter is resolved as of 10/22/13.
