The Grout Doctor

So I just would like to mention that i had a neighbor just move in next door to me. She is not fully in the house because the house was take over by the HOA because of non payment of Dues of the previous owner. The tiled floor grout was disgusting, The grout was nasty! The house stunk so bad! My new neighbor who came from California, asked me if i could recommend a tile floor cleaner. So i told her yes. So she entrusted me with this task, left me the key and her number. So i did my research like I always do and found The Grout Doctor on the internet. The business owner Elliot assured me the two guys that would come are very nice and will do an unbelievable job. So I said OK. In my mind i told myself this better be good. This lady is not going to be happy if the grout does not come out clean. So these two guys showed up Jay and Matt. Very Professional! Very informative on the cleaning process of the grout along with a special stain they make and they do not use paint. They told me do not worry, they will come get me. So I went back to my house and was sweating for four long hours, worrying! Well if you ever saw the show Fixer Upper, I opened the front door and just said "Oh My God', over and over!! It was unbelievable! The whole house of tile and grout looked brand new! It was flawless!! It was as if a whole new house of tile was just installed! That is how good it came out! It was magical! Thank You Elliot, Jay and Matt! So I just have to recommend The Grout Doctor.

When Elliot Gerstein came to our house we explained detailedly the work we wanted and expected to be done, he agreed to do the work we asked and said that the work would take a day or day and a half to be finished. He also said that we had to empty all our furniture like bookcases and photos because his crew were going to move the furniture outside to prevent the furniture from being covered with dust, which by the way they never moved the furniture outside. The first day of work I received a phone call from Elliott Gerstein saying that he couldn't replace certain tiles that he previously said he could change because according to him we didn't have enough new ones, when we had more than 20 new tiles laying in our family room, just an excuse for him to not do his job that was the FIRST RED FLAG. They were suppose to bring their own tools and not use your patio furniture to cleaning your old tiles, however what they did was they used my patio table and left my backyard a complete mess, also they threw all the residues from the old tiles in my yard leaving my backyard a disaster SECOND RED FLAG. Then he said he couldn't change certain tiles because he needed to cut them and he wasn't skilled nor had the experience to do so. However why did he agree to cut the tiles when he knew he couldn't THIRD RED FLAG. Later on Elliot Gerstein said that he couldn't come the next day to work on the tiles and instead that they were going to work on the showers. However there lack of planning skills worked on both bathrooms at the same time so we couldn't take a shower that day, nor the next morning because before we could take a shower we needed to clean the shower because like I had mentioned previously they never cleaned up after work. Elliot said that very early in the morning at 8 am a guy from his crew would arrive at my house to finished the shower it was 10:20 am and no one had arrived. Around 11:00 am someone arrived to finish the unfinished bathroom and what this person did was the most unsanitary, unprofessional, and lazy thing that I had ever experienced. He cleaned the residues of new grout with the water from my toilet bowl. Not only did they plug my toilet bowl but also my whole bathroom was '"cleaned with water from the toilet" also this person was so lazy that he never took off the curtain rod to regrout the tiles that the curtain rod hung by so instead what he did was he place new grout on top of rob to stick the tiles in which the rod hung. In which doing so he also stuck the curtain rod to the tile FOURTH RED FLAG. At this point we were so frustrated even more when Elliot said that he wouldn't finish the work that day nor that he couldn't come that day and that he need more time to finish this nightmare when it had already been 4 days and Elliot had said it would take one day. My husband said he did not want to continue with the work but Elliot charged us $1,080 dollars for 32 tiles and one bathroom when the average installation of ceramic tiles are $11.16-$17.09 per square foot and he charged around 32 per square foot. Elliot Gerstein is not only unprofessional, lazy, sloppy, unsanitary, disorganized and unpunctual he is just a bad person with a lack of ethic. For the price gouge after the hurricane is why we filled out a complain in the Attorney General Office and we are planning on reporting to the Better Business Bureau (BBB)

My experience with the grout doctor was fantastic. They were very professional, price was reasonable and the work was exceptional. I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to anyone who needs help in the future. They came out and did the estimate, set a date, and showed up on time and did a great job.

Our tenant had hired Eliot for the job and had already paid him.  We found the results unsatisfactory and called him up.  He explained what he had done as he was careful to not dull the stone floors.  We asked him to redo the job with a stronger cleaning agent.  He agreed and carefully tested different agents to make sure not to cause damage.  He re-did the entire house to our satisfaction.  As we needed it done soon, he came and did the job himself even though his helper was unavailable.  He communicated very well throughout the process.  Eliot wanted to make sure we were happy with the results and ended up doing a nice job.  We are property managers and deal with many workers.  It was refreshing to deal with such professionalism in Miami.  He backed up his service and we will definitely hire him again!

Came quickly to give estimate of work. We're responsive to my schedule and provided a quick turnaround. Very professional crew. Very satisfied with the service. Bathrooms and Laundery area looks great! Very pleased.

Elliotts team (Jason and Matt) were very professional and did a great job. The first day they preped the rooms by moving the furniture and sealing with plastic what they couldn't move, and cleaned over 2000 sq of mexican tile.  The second day, Matt sealed the tile with 4 coats of sealant. The 20 yr old tile looks new again.
I had gotten three estimates. The Grout Doctor wasn't the lowest, but I felt the most comfortable with Elliott because he didn't try to upsale us and he agreed to match the other estimates. We are very pleased with the results and will use the Grout Doctor for annual maintenance to keep the tile looking like new.

We are so happy with the service.  We were moving into a house and didn't want to change the tile throughout the house.  The tile now has a completely new look.  They transformed our ugly tile and grout into a beautiful floor.  The owner is extremely responsive and helpful - we would definitely use them again.

Very professional company. The owner gave me the estimate. His wife followed up quite often until we were ready for their services. The 2 man crew came and finished in one day. They stayed until it was done. So far so good.

Price (A) - I received two quotes and they were the more expensive quote (over $100) but I thought they did a more thorough job giving me an estimate and were providing better services. Therefore I went with them and they also matched the estimate the other competitor gave me.
Quality (B) - Overall, I am very happy with finished product. I was not there when the services were being completed but as of right now, there is a little mess in one of the bathrooms. I am hoping it washes away or I will try to clean it. Also to be fair, they told me they would come back and fix anything if needed. I just haven't thought about that option yet. 
Responsiveness (A) - This is actually one of the main reasons I went with them. Jennifer (who was the main person I spoke with) was very responsive and had Elliot come out immediately. Jennifer also followed up often. 
Punctuality (C) - This may not be as significant for other people but it affected me so had to mark this one as a C. Initially we had a date set for Monday and since I work at client offices on a daily basis, I had to get a family member to come to my house for the day - so when they had to reschedule, that was hard for me. Regardless I was still able to find someone to fill in for the rescheduled date that was 2 days later. Because of that, I asked for it to be as early as possible so I didn't inconvenience this person as much and they ended up being 30 minutes later. Again, not significant time but it affected my business so I couldn't give this a high rating.
Professionalism (A) - Jennifer who I spoke with most of the time was extremely nice and followed up very professionally (not in the pushy way that many sales people do it) and Elliot was also extremely nice and professional as well. This trait along with the responsiveness was the main driver for selecting them. 
Overall, I was happy with the work and would choose to work with them again if I have a similar need.

For my first contact with this company, I left a message and my call was returned a week later. The receptionist claimed they were having difficulties with their message system. The owner came out to view the job and provide an estimate. He was very nice and seemed to understand exactly what I wanted. We scheduled the service that day. The crew was 30 minutes late to the appointment. They worked on the grout for what seemed to be a short time, I assumed they were very efficient. I inspected the grout line and they were too wide so I asked them to reduce the width and to make the corners tight. The grout was wet so I couldn't discern the color. There was a haze on the tile that is normal after grouting.
That's where the good experience ended.
When the grout dried, it was a completely different color than the rest of the shower. The hazy areas that they said would wash off wouldn't come clean. They had simply applied another layer of grout on the shower floor instead of removing the old grout and applying new grout. I called the owner, who took business 7 days to respond to my call, and only called back after I called again. I sent him photos of the poor workmanship. Their availability did not mesh well with mine and 4 weeks later they returned to fix it. This time, the quality of the job was worse. There are smears of grout on the tile and my marble surround that won't come off. There are grout smears on the ceiling. There are places where the grout is not level. They didn't remove all of the grout from the first job and I can see the old color there. It looks so sloppy. In addition, although I cannot provide proof that these workmen caused them, there are now deep scratches on my glass shower door. I texted photos to the owner and left a message. He has not yet responded.

We needed a rather speedy job done as this is a rental unit.  It had been vacant for over a month and we felt it needed a fresh makeover to make it more marketable.  Deciding on glass tile backsplash and a professional grout cleaning in the bathroom, we called around for service people.  Grout Doctor returned our call immediately and we negotiated a price.  Work was scheduled three days after we agreed upon a price and was completed in a single day.  What was more remarkable, we rented the condo the very next day thanks to the work done by Dr. Grout!   We are recommending Dr. Grout to a family member who needs tile repair work done and we will call upon Dr. Grout again for more tile work. 

Finding responsive service workers in South Florida is problematic.  Many don't return calls or fail to show.  Dr. Grout is the exception in this market. 

The job was much more difficult then expected due to years of build up with a waxy cleaning product that should not have been used. These guys were very professional, did a lot of work by hand to make sure it was perfect. Which it was! Couldn't be more pleased with the company and the results,

Elliott and his team arrived on time and did a great job in a timely manner. Both bathrooms were done on the same afternoon saving me time and travel expenses. They did light tile and patch work and cleaned the shower doors for no additional cost. Also, after job was complete, I was very happy but the wanted to reveal the bathroom sink, again with no extra charge to me. They do the job right the first time, are on time and work clean! I would hire them again and will recommend them to others with no reservations.

I had more negative than positive. When the guy showed up he was great but I think he was having a bad day the day he came and he basically had his assistant do all the work. It was fine, I really don't care but he was kind of berating the guy while he was here. And the guy is just talking back about him all the time. We had a weird atmosphere while he was gone. They also got a lot of material on like at the bottom part of furniture, like the legs and stuff. Basically, when we e-mailed to tell him he was like, "Woah, use a rag wagon and clean it." They did a good job and the guy that was doing all the work did a good job, it was very detailed. Everything I read about him was very good but like I said, I think he was having a bad day. He was just very short. my mom even got him to a little bit of altercation about just his tone and stuff. It was just kind of uncomfortable.

overall the tiles and grout look good. it buys me time to save for a true remodel; from afar looks like new, but up close only the grout looks new. It is understandable since the tiles are the original tiles when our home was built over a decade ago. they did a good job in removing the horrible looking grout that we tried doing ourselves. the only issue i had was the lack of attention to detail. the hard reaching places, as i was explained, were just difficult to do nicely. i think that that is a lousy excuse really. i am not going to go into detail as far as every little corner that they missed, again its just the lack of attention to detail, them trying to finish the job in two days (a schedule imposed by themselves) just made it overall a sloppy job. they disclosed the part of the home owner cleaning up after the job was complete, which i know we agreed to but its just silly. cleanup should be included. for what we paid, we should not have had to clean up.  they also ruined our toilet seats by scratching them with their tools - the toilet seats were brand new and weren't cheap ones. i guess they figured that since the bathrooms looked like crap before they started working that we wouldn't care. just poor judgment on their part. I didn't tell them about it because i just didn't want to deal with it anymore. what's done is done. again, bathrooms look much better, but not like they advertise. won't use them again nor will refer them to anyone. would rather get a contractor in the future. i hate sloppy work. being detail oriented is what sets you apart from the competition.

Elliot and a crew of two arrived on time and set to work immediately.  They removed all the grout around the sink counters, on the shower floor and the moldy silicone on the inside and outside of the shower.  We had recently purchased the condo and the shower was in bad shape.  He advised me to let the shower dry out a  week before he came to fix it. I did that plus a good scrubbing with clorox. We actually did an estimate over email and text messages with me sending him pictures of the areas to be fixed.
I was very happy with the finished job.  Everything looks great.  He also came back the next week to touch up some of the silicone areas that had shrunk. I chose solid silicone which is harder to apply and I was happy with his application. The grouted sink areas also look fantastic and the marble shines beautifully.
I did a lot of research so I knew what I wanted done and how I wanted it done.  He had all the right answers.  You need to have reasonable expectations with older bathrooms but I don't think anyone could have made it look better than it does now.

The work they did inside my house was very good however my complaint is what they left behind on my pavers. One of the workers cleaned their tools on the driveway and now the pavers have white residue on them. I spoke with Elliot two times about this and he assured me they would come back and fix the problem and as of today, May 2nd I still have pavers with grout on them. I am not happy about that.
