The whole process was easy, and everything went well.  Once Doug and I coordinated our schedules, he and Maria came out with the samples and measured the windows to be replaced.  Their meaurements and our product selection took approximately 90 minutes.  The product was ready 5-6 weeks later, and installed approximately 2 weeks after that.  There were absolutely no hitches in the whole process.  The installation took about 90 minutes, and the installed product looks and functions perfectly.  This is a small business operated by personable and knowledgeable people.  If you are looking for a U.S. manufactured, high quality, and competitively priced plantation shutter, then I would recommend Doug and Maria to you.

We purchased our blinds 6 years ago.  One blind was 126 inches wide.  When the cord broke recently, they replaced it with a stronger, newer version cord at no cost to us.  Not many vendors would do that.....and cheerfully too.

I searched Angie's List when I needed plantation shutters for my house I purchased in Leesburg, Florida.  Blinds by Design had high reviews.  I had never used Angie's List previously and was a bit skeptical about services and businesses listed.  I was pleased that Angie's List proved helpful.   Doug Faivre the owner and installer was courteous and friendly when I called for an appointment to measure the windows for the first job this past fall.  I was so satisfied with my shutters that I decided to order more for other windows.  His wife Maria accompanied him and gave helpful suggestions concerning the style and color of the plantation shutters.  Each time a reasonable, precise quote was submitted.  Because of Doug's  extensive experience in the window industry,  he fits them precisely.  My windows are not exactly square.  How he installed them impressed me.  Not only is his work exact, but also he and Maria work efficiently.  The installation required much less time than I anticipated.  If I had more windows that required shutters, Blinds by Design would be the only company I would have install them.

Everything went very well and I have now called them again to put Solar shades in the Lanai. They are so easy to work with. Always very pleasant.

It was a great experience from start to finish.  They are a little pricey but still a good value since the roll up shades we purchased look great and are of excellent quality.  They are also custom fitted so that explains the price.  They work flawlessly and have a durable feel to them when we retract them.
They took some time to be manufactured so the interval between product selection / sizing and installation was more than we would have liked but again, with a custom fit product, this is to be expected.  All in all, terrific company and I would certainly do business with them again!

My initial contact with Doug was when I called the office--they didnt answer so I needed to leave a message. It took him several days for him to call me back. Well he had to leave me a message and then we finally got together and he set up a time and day to come out. He  and his wife came and they were very nice and accommodating. They measured for the motorized shade and brought samples of e-screen for me to choose from. Before they left, Doug got my email address to send the quote to me. Well a week went by, and I didnt receive anything. This past Monday, I called Doug to check on the estimate. He told me "he needed to get his thoughts together" and would call me right back. Well, since it had already been sometime since the appointment, I really didn't believe him when he said he would call me right back. Still 5 days later, he has yet to call me.

First, let me start by saying that Doug and Maria are great people. They are very knowledgeable and Professional at there business. They came in with samples and listened to what we wanted (this is a key thing for us). Then gave us some suggestions off the information they received form us. They worked hard to find us the best bang for our buck!, if you will excuse the expression. They even took the time to make a second trip back to the house to make sure that we were getting what we wanted, as we had a few questions which they came out and answered. They wrote up a quote to give us an idea of the cost. They then emailed us the invoice for the job after the ran the numbers and it was what they quoted us. They requested we sign the invoice and send them a small deposit with the invoice and told us it would be about three weeks before they could get the blinds back from the manufacturer. Three weeks or so and a few communications later they were here to do the install. They finished the install about an hour ago and we are thrilled with the final product and result. the house has never looked better. The blinds make a world of difference compared to the verticals that were in the house when we purchased it. Top Quality job guys. Thank you very much. I would highly recommend Blinds by design to anyone who is looking for any kind of blinds. Through the process of working with Doug and Maria, they have showed us many pictures of there work and a very wide variety of blinds. We opted for the 2 inch Faux wood horizontal blinds because the new windows we had installed prior to getting the blinds, were twice as wide as the old windows and the cut down on the space available on the inside of the window frame and the 2 inch blinds were perfect for the space available. Over all, it was a very pleasant collaboration and the completed project is very much to our liking.

Doug Faivre, owner of Blinds by Design,  listened to what I wanted and the problems I needed to resolve. He knew how to order the shudder to cover the arch while the shudder still looked normal and was able to open & shut properly. These window treatments totally changed the feel in our house....from ordinary to elegant !!! I would recommend Blinds by Design to everyone. The prices were reasonable, the workmanship was excellent and the personal service is something hard to find anymore.

Doug & Maria, came to our house to  measure and provide suggestions to replace our hideous vertical blinds throughout the house. This includes 3 sets of sliding doors that open to the Lanai.
While Doug was measuring, Maria talked with us regarding colors and desires for coverings. Then she opened up the vast array of her samples so we could look at window-treatment options and discuss price, size and color.
We have quite a few arch eyebrows above our windows and although we like the shutters our preference was for filling in the arches with louvered look and blinds below them. 
Our sliders treaments we were open on deciding-- just not another ugly vertical blind. They have a new style of shade that can block light and allow you to open one side or the other. Very nice and useable.
We were considered Roman shades for our floor to ceiling dining room windows (vaulted ceiling). Doug and Maria suggested this shade mixed blind that allows filtered light in , or block all light or let all the light in. We love those things. easy to use and pretty dressy for our dining room.
We worked out our multiple month order and install plan. Each order takes about 3 weeks to arrive and were installed within days of arriving. They took care of my old blinds and hardware by taking it with them.
We modified our follow on order with a few minor changes after seeing the top-notch quality of the blinds we ordered and ordered the same for our Master Bedroom. Glad we did. Upon on return to install the last round of blinds, Doug tweaked and updated the first order he installed to make sure they matched in look and operation. 
We would definitely use them again because the entire process was so painless and professional.  Both of them are great to work with.  Thanks to Blinds by Design the value of our house just from the looks has gone up.

The owners of Blinds by Design, Doug & Maria, came to my condo to take measurements of my floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door which runs the entire width of my condo's living room.  I've always had vertical blinds on this door, but they were old and broken.  I looked at window-treatment samples with Maria and discussed the options. 
One of my requirements was that I needed something that will accommodate my using this sliding glass door as my front door since I am on the first floor and it is more convenient than using the actual front door.  Whatever I purchased will need to work with my constant entering and exiting.  Replacing my vertical blinds with newer vertical blinds was the best option for this situation.  I chose vertical blinds with a pattern and a bit of color instead of the solid almond color of my old blinds.  They customized them so that when completely opening the blinds, they separate near the sliding glass door handle instead of exactly in the center.  This makes it easier for me to part the blinds when entering and exiting my condo.  We also decided to use the wands to turn and separate the blinds so that I wouldn't need to climb over furniture to use a cord & chain on one side of the blinds.
Doug & Maria informed me that installation would occur about 3 weeks after ordering the blinds.  They were accurate with that estimate and installed the blinds in 3 weeks.  They both arrived to install the blinds and did so in an extremely efficient, timely, careful, and clean manner.  They didn't even balk when I informed them that my condo regulations state no construction material can be disposed of in our dumpsters.  They took my old, broken blinds and track with them.
One day after installation, I received a follow-up email asking about the blinds with an attached copy of the warranty I requested.  So efficient!  I would definitely use them again because the entire process was so easy and smooth.  Both of them are great to work with.  Thanks to Blinds by Design, I have great looking and working vertical blinds.

Thank you Blinds by Design for the new shutters in our living and dinning room.  I am so very happy with them.  They look great inside and out.  The entire experience with Doug and Maria was wonderful.  They are two of the nicest and most professional people I've ever had the pleasure of working with.  From our first meeting to the installation they just made everything so easy. When I spoke with Doug about giving us an estimate, he was professional, thorough, and friendly. He arrived to take measurements since I had already decided what I wanted. His measuring equipment is state of the art and consequently, every blind was a perfect fit. Doug showed me a sample of the quallity of the blinds and the mechanism used as well as the valance. It far exceeded my expectations. These are really quality blinds, and they're made in America--which is a huge plus in my book. The valances are extraordinary. They're a small touch, but they look like crown molding--very classy. I was told it would take about 2 weeks to receive the finished product. Their prices were more than fair.
Two weeks later--to the day, when Doug and Marie arrived to install the blinds (right on time) they were a smooth and polished team. The work was done thoroughly, even using a "magic eraser" to remove any smudges. Not a detail was overlooked. There were no hidden costs and I'm really thrilled with the beautiful blinds and the whole process.  I will certainly recommend them to anyone looking for window treatments and wouldn't hesitate to use them again myself.

So who knew blind selection could be fun.  Although I knew exactly what i wanted for several of the windows, I have a 16 ft sliding glass door, and there was no way I was going to put vertical blinds on it.   Doug recommended I check out they're page and look at rolling shades.  As he put it, "these aren't your grandma's rolling shades".  
When Doug and Maria came to our house, they brought in several books of samples and we started to work, and then they brought in even more.  At our request, they made several recommendations and patiently worked with us for, no kidding, 4 hours.  We eventually decided on plantation shutters for most of the downstairs, rolling shades for the slider and pool bath door, regular standard blinds (which are way better than any standard blind I've every seen) for the bedrooms, plantation shutters for the master bath, and cordless honeycomb blinds for the master bedroom.  The coolest window treatment I purchased was in the kitchen, we did an Allure Transitional Shade (google it, it is amazing), in a color that almost perfectly matched our kitchen cabinets (thank you Maria!).  When it came to taking measurements, they are state of the art, and take into consideration everything about the window and how the window treatment will look when installed. 
When it came to installation we continued to be amazed.  Only when the treatments went in did we realize how self-professed OCD Doug was.  Every window treatment fit perfectly, and looked amazing, but it was the small touches that really impressed.  Maria even went behind Doug and clean up any scuff marks with a Magic Eraser.  
Since the install, I have had several other families who are building homes in our community swing by to check out our window treatments. Even the sales ladies at the model home stopped by to take a look.  Oh, and everybody thinks they look fantastic, and want to know who did them.
I would and have recommended Doug and Maria to ANYONE.  In fact, we have a couple of other windows we're probably going to put shutters on.  You know who I'll be calling.

First and foremost, wonderful people, extremely knolwedgeable, great products, superior and quality service.  Now the details.   We had used Lowes in the past for some windows treatments and really do not have anything particularly negative to say (though in retrospect wish we had known of Blinds by Design at that time).  However Lowes, like Home Depot can only accomodate you to a point with respect to process (measurement, ordering, installation) and product offerrings (in the case window treatments.Suffice to say Blinds by Design has the brick and mortar stores beat by a mile in all of the above categories.  With regard to price, they matched what Lowes was charging us, for a better product that Lowes could even offer.  A + B = how can you beat that.  They were able to accomodate our "crazy" schedule.  They arrived with their mobile showroom.  It was truly amazing the variety of samples they brought with them - way way more than we have ever seen in Lowes, Home Depot and to be honest some other stores who sell window treatments. They are state of the art when it comes to measuring, meaning what you get fits perfectly.  Meticulous is the only way to describe the way they handled the installation.  Seriously, they handled everything like it was their own home.  We are having other things done in our house, and if they offered those service they would be at the top of our consideration list.
