Davies Tile, Inc.

This was an awful experience and the worst choice I have ever made for our home project - tile work. The room was perfectly ready for the crew ; I was expecting owner Keith Davies to be on site - working and he was not there with crew; actually not at all until the very end of the job and the very beginning of the job - he did not review the tile work after the completion of the job either. I checked in on the crew and prior to the job starting I communicated to Keith & crew that I did not want any chipped tile and for this to be done right. They all agreed - this was said numerous times during the job being completed - "no chipped tile allowed" - they agreed. The crew was 3 or 4 to 2 to 1 as it changed - not sure how this crew could do such poor work. Many times I looked into the room, they were gone - left door open to the outside backyard - and left room messy. I stayed up all night the night before to finish painting the walls and there were finger prints from hands all over the walls. The end of the project there were 50 plus tiles with chips - some larger than others, missing grout in areas and tile was not level - was uneven in many areas. I contacted Owner Keith - he was quick to point out why I waited so long to get in touch with him, later came to look at the room with agreement on the chipped tile and started to blame the tile - store - luckily I had 2 full boxes of the same tile that was not used - boxes were unopened. We went through each tile in one box; Keith continued to point out a chip and when I wiped the tile with my hand - show Keith there were no chips - this happen numerous time - until he stopped saying there were chips in the newly purchased tile. All tile's in this box were looked over and none were chipped - Customer's are not stupid to buy into someone "Keith" saying there is a chip on a tile when there is not a chip on the tile... Next Owner Keith communicate the tile was defective. I called the tile company and spoke with a supervisor of the tile area and he went the extra mile to check with others to find out the tile was not defective. Owner Keith took out a black Sharpie marker and said "if I covered these before you saw the room you would not have seen them"; he proceeded to cover the chips with black Sharpie marker. I let him know that the Sharpie marker will come off over time and is not the solution to repair the chipped tile. Finally he took some responsibility to come back and replace the larger chips and use a tile kit to repair the smaller chips. I was concerned as how do you fix chipped tile without replacing it. I had already purchased extra tile. Keith and a crew employee; this employee had spoken badly about owner - company when at our home during tiling at the start of the project. I specifically communicated to Keith that I did not want a Sharpie marker used on the chipped tile. There were over 50 plus chipped tile and he replaced 2 1/2 tiles and marked over the rest with black stuff and black Sharpie marker which came off after I washed the tile with warm water. After they left the first time it took me and my daughter washing the floor 4 times with vinegar and water as we were directed by a crew employee who was the last person on the job. The room was left with a thick dirty film over the entire floor. After the 2nd time at our home to complete the job and replace - repair all the chipped tile Keith communicated just to use warm water on the tile to clean it the next few days after the 2 1/2 tiles had time to dry. I believe he did not want me using any cleaning product the would take off the black stuff - black Sharpie marker. The room was not better expect for the 2 1/2 tiles that were replaced. I found marks on the floor from the black Sharpie marker after I asked the owner Keith not to use a black Sharpie marker on the floor - he disregard as he was only trying to get away with covering up the chipped tile (Tip - stand over your tile worker or contractors). I made a big mistake to trust this company to complete the job with quality work that was good to great as this work was horrific... This company should be rated minus stars. They left our room a mess, floor a mess and really terrible quality work - again with chipped tile - grout missing - uneven tile. I was so devastated and upset as I expected this project to be completed as I gave owner Keith a second chance to come into our home and make this right - this did not happen... I texted Keith and sent him some photo's of the chipped tile from the most recent time at our home - let him know I was not done counting the chipped tile that were not replaced - missing grout - uneven tile. Keith reply was they must have missed a few. A few is around 2 tiles - there is 50 plus tiles that need to be replaced. This is a BIG difference... This is the first time I have had tile work done on my own with hiring, I unfortunately feel owner Keith took advantage of me being a female and a nice person. I unfortunately can't prove this gut feeling - I can prove the terrible quality of work that Keith and Davies Tile delivers as I have many photo's - video as well. I did communicated this to Keith when he came to our home to see the many issues with the tile work and he got very defensive. I requested a refund and now the owner Keith is not replying to my texts - "Yes" Ghosting his Customers... Mistakes I made that I want to share with you as this should not happen to anyone. 1. Don't use Davies Tile - Keith Davies 2. Do not give a check or full payment until you inspect the work. I gave full payment before being able to wash the floor and see - inspect the work. This crew left the tile with a awful dirt film that took us 4 washes to see the tile and this is when we saw all the chips - the crew knew these were on the tile before they left our home. It's just terrible that you can't trust anyone anymore. 3. I waited too long to inspect the room due to living a busy life and taking on some additional family obligations. I trusted this company - owner Keith's promise to complete work with a high quality - it's apparent that Davies Tile - Keith work is less than a 1 star - actually minus infinity stars for Keith & Davies Tile. So again do not use Davies Tile and second wash the tile and inspect before you pay the company - person. I could tell you more - the bigger picture is Keith - Davies Tile did not take responsibility and wanted to blame everyone else other than looking in the mirror and admitting to their mistakes. Keith took our money and cashed the check the same day - so he took our money for work not competed and ran. Now Keith is not replying to my communication; many attempts and also asked Keith for a reply and nothing... Now we are without my daughter's room completed and I need to figure our next steps to get this resolved. Be warned and don't use Davies Tile or work by Keith Davies. From a very dissatisfied customer... I hope this saves many from making the same mistake in hiring Keith - Davies Tile Company or errors in dealing with workers - contractors. Thank you
