Green Energy Options, a Gainesville-based company, provides Building Performance services to the North Central Florida Area. Our Mission is to provide expert guidance and services to home owners who are interested in improving their home’s efficiency, comfort and indoor environment. We use building science principles and the “House as a System” approach, to provide comprehensive home analysis for energy efficiency, combustion safety, and home comfort. Energy Analysis Our home energy analysis includes a thorough examination of your house inside and out, scientific testing of your home air leakage using a “blower door” and digital pressure gauges, additional testing of your duct system leakiness if necessary, a detailed discussion with you and a detailed, prioritized written report. Combustion Safety We use state of the art equipment to check for correct supply air flow in combustion zones, correct flue draft within each combustion appliance, and check carbon monoxide levels and steady state efficiency. Your home’s safety is our first concern. Home Comfort, Air Quality and Education We offer additional services to check comfort issues such as uneven air flow, building moisture and mildew, HVAC system efficiency and duct sizing. We also provide solar site assessment and energy conservation and energy upgrade presentations for groups. Kevin Veach, the owner of Green Energy Options, and a 16-year resident of Gainesville, has been active in the energy efficiency movement since the 1980s. He received the Minnesota Residential Conservation Service certification in 1981 and performed home energy audits in Minneapolis for a low-income weatherization program. In addition, he founded Home Weatherization Services, focusing on remedying infiltration problems in existing homes.
